88 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Nice beer list. Included 3 Floyds Zombie Dust & Old Rasputin Stout. Going of track here but Mikey the bartender made a chocolate martini that my wife really liked. |
38 /100 52 COTTAGE ST Don’t waste your time. Way too many other fantastic breweries in Maine to waste time, money, and space in your liver for this. They should be ashamed of themselves. |
84 /100 52 COTTAGE ST Visited here for dinner Memorial Day Weekend '18. Apparently this place just opened up and it shares its space with a burger place. They roll the sidewalks up at 9:00 in Bar Harbor and I barely got my lobster roll order in ( they were very accommodating). This is a pilot brewery of their main location which I visited earlier in the day. They have completely different tap lists. The three half pints I had were great. Friendly, talkative service, a few locals dispersed around bar and tables having a good time. Worth a visit in this touristy town. |
84 /100 Bar Harbor Beerworks (Bar) 119 MAIN ST Stopped in to try a couple of beers. Several local taps, in two different bars. One has lots of local common beers while the other has more harder to get beers. So went to the harder to get bar, and our bartender was really friendly. Gave us a few samples, and knew them back and forth. Tried a couple of pints, no food, really good service. Well worth the stop. |
62 /100 Finback Alehouse (Restaurant) 30 COTTAGE ST Stopped in for dinner, nice views of the bay. Large bar area and large seating both indoors and outdoors. We sat inside, was a little chilly. Known for their seafood, beer selection was decent. Our server was not real fluent about their beers, so tried a couple of local brews. |
84 /100 52 COTTAGE ST Stopped in while staying at Bar Harbor. Nice open air space, with an upstairs seating area. We sat at the bar, about 20 seats in a U shaped bar. Bartender was friendly and suggested certain beers based on your food order. We tried a flight, all were tasty. Large seating area with beers to go and other merchandise. Well worth the stop. |
84 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Stopped in on the way to Bar Harbor. Great location off the beat and path. Started at the tap room, tasted several of their beers, with no cost. Bartender explained all their beers, very friendly place. Next, went to the BBQ building right next door, very good BBQ. Did not take a tour, enjoyed the day. Worth a stop if in the are. |
86 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Visited here on Memorial Day Weekend '18 while on vacation. Cozy, little tap room, about ten seats at the bar, a dozen or so tables. Have about a dozen of their beers on tap, their regulars that you see from time to time around the country and then some seasonals and specials. Served in half pints, pints, growlers and flights of tasters, reasonably priced and pretty solid. Lots of locals hanging around, all friendly, but not overly curious of outsiders, Prompt service. They serve Bar-B-Que, I wanted lobster, so didn't partake. Great place to refresh after a day of exploring Acadia National Park. |
60 /100 Thirsty Whale (Restaurant) 40 COTTAGE STREET Decent food, better than the beer list. Very crowded but we snuck in and got a table. We had high beer expectations on this trip and this place was below that line for beer. |
72 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Sold bottles to go, and had draft of their product. Were able to make a mix 6. Beer decent. Service friendly, prices good. |
78 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST The best beer list in Bar Harbor, friendly somewhat knowledgeable staff. Did not try the food. Definitely worth a visit. Nice vibe, we sat at an outdoor bar at happy hour, nice to get a discount on cream of the crop beers. |
80 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Nice little cozy place by our hotel on maine street. We stopped in during happy hour and found they had Bissell Brothers, and at a discounted price! Did not have food since we had a late lunch. Would like to go back. |
62 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Nice new clean place. Service was fast. Not many people there at the time. |
68 /100 Thirsty Whale (Restaurant) 40 COTTAGE STREET Had dinner here with John, Anne and Patty. Normal pub food. Decent beer list. After having Red's lobster roll, all others can't live up to them. same here. This place seems more crowded than other places. Must be doing something better. |
56 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Kind of meh. The beer is meh. The place feels styled after other brewery tap rooms and is kind of meh. The burgers next door are alright but overpriced. |
68 /100 Finback Alehouse (Restaurant) 30 COTTAGE ST Nice pub with good ambience and great food. Friendly staff. Decent beer selection. |
76 /100 Bar Harbor Beerworks (Bar) 119 MAIN ST One of better spots when in town or even on island. Busy but tables rotate fast as this is big pub. They have plenty of local and even some rare beers on tap. Food was very good. Service was friendly enough. Bonus another tap room (with 10 taps) just door away. |
62 /100 Finback Alehouse (Restaurant) 30 COTTAGE ST Visited back in 2013, small bits of notes from backlog. Big beautiful curved wooden bar. All of the woodwork here is great, hand built in the 70s. Very nautical feel, not tacky though, just a lot of things that remind me of a boat. Service was quick and friendly.
|
76 /100 McKay’s Public House (Restaurant) 231 MAIN STREET Visited in 2013, old notes from backlog. 10 taps, 2 casks. Nice selection of Maine beers including Allagash (FV13 at the time I was there), Maine (Mo) and a couple of slightly lower tier Maine stuff (it can’t all be Maine Beer Mo). The atmosphere here is pretty neat. Eclectic yet refined, nice copper bar, cool young energetic staff. Since we were doing a bar crawl sort of thing we only got the pretzels to snack on, but damn was the red dragon rarebit that accompanied it amazing. I want those at just about every bar. If I could only pick one bar in Bar Harbor to go to, it would be Blaze. If I could pick two, this would be a pretty close second in spite of the smaller tap list, just seems a really fun place to hang out.

72 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Visited in 2013. This is where all of the Atlantic and Bar Harbor stuff is made. Didn’t do a brewery tour, though I think they do have them. I also think that once you’ve done tours of a few they all start looking the same, so I often skip them unless there’s something unique. Anyway, nice thing about this place is that during the warmer months (and maybe the colder months, but really, how many people are vacationing in Bar Harbor in the colder months) the BBQ place Mainely Meats (get it? It’s a pun. Puns are funny) is open. We were both happy with the food there, though be warned there’s not a ton of vegetarian options. Well, there are, but it’s all sides. Which were good. But it wasn’t a whole meal for me. The tasting room has samples of things, and I don’t recall there being a cost associated.
|
52 /100 Bayside Liquors (Beer Store) 53 MAIN ST Visited on a Bar Harbor trip back in 2013. This is the liquor store in Bar Harbor. You’re going to go here. You’re going to buy a few things from the fairly good (for a vacation town) selection. The people are friendly, and the prices reasonable. The place is charming and quaint, but as you’re likely going to end up here on a longer stay in Bar Harbor anyway, that doesn’t matter all that much.
|
50 /100 Thirsty Whale (Restaurant) 40 COTTAGE STREET Stopped in here with my wife while doing a walking tour of as many of the beer bars in Bar Harbor. Very limited taps. There’s definitely better selections elsewhere in Bar Harbor. Total of 14 taps, a couple of them being macros. The craft stuff is all lower tier craft stuff, the most common and least exciting options generally from Sam Adams, Cisco, DFH, Atlantic, Peak, Shed. Since the beer menu wasn’t very exciting, we only stayed for one beer and split a salad while there. The house dressing was pretty awesome though, some sort of a buttermilk and scallion thing which was very tasty. I’m guessing it was bottled and not made in house, but it was still good. So there. However, unless you’re trying to hit every place in Bar Harbor, I would skip this one.

80 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Stopped by while visiting Bar Harbor during a cruise. Great pizza! Decent tap selection (thing 20 taps). Fair bottle list. Service was spotty. Located a bit down the main street, but worth a visit. |
76 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Stopped by while in Bar Harbor on a cruise. Apparently they bought out Bar Harbor Brewing and have a mix of the two for now. Excellent service. A two ounce taster (plastic) was one dollar. Located just off the main street in the former Bar Harbor Brewing location. Do not know if old location is still operating. |
74 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Nice restaurant in bar harbor. Food was quite good. Selection was decent but we’re out of first two beers in draft list I asked for which annoys me. Waitress wasn’t very attentive and probably could have a gotten another drink or two out of me if she just came by more often. Thy being said would recommend this place for food and beer |
74 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Good beer selection, generic modernistic decor, decent pizza, good oysters, good service, flights available |
88 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST wood fired themed place on main street in tourist town bar harbor. Indoor and outdoor seating options available. Visited on a really rare hot and humid day in BH, so opted for inside. Tap list was pretty stellar with all kinds of offerings from Maine, happy to find someplace up the coast with both Foundation and Bissell Brothers stuff, which is what I was looking for. Food was pretty solid, tried an excellent cheesy breadstick offering, which was quite good and had a lobster panini, which was good..19 bucks for a lobster roll was the going price...really enjoyed the taplist, worth a stop for beer definitely and the food was very good as well... |
74 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Nice place. A bit chaotic. Staff seems a bit distracted but friendly. Food was awesome and kind of unique. Selection was Maine-centric. |
84 /100 McKay’s Public House (Restaurant) 231 MAIN STREET Wow. Great food and a neat supply of local beers, all of which were new to me. Helpful staff. |
86 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Had dinner here. Reservations are recommended! They really know how to do beer here as they had 40 taps and probably 40 bottles as well. The server wasn’t just occupying a job as he really knew his beer. I described what I wanted in a beer and he came through. The food and atmosphere were both excellent. I should also say that this is a touristy town and there is traffic everywhere in the evening and parking can be a challenge. |
56 /100 Bayside Liquors (Beer Store) 53 MAIN ST Eh not much going on here. Just a regular liquor store that has a couple small shelves dedicated to craft beer. Some local stuff, some imports, some other micros. There aren’t any great places to get bottles in Bar Harbor and if you aren’t from Maine this might be a worthwhile place to stop in to pick up a few bottles. |
50 /100 Hannaford Supermarket (Grocery Store) 86 COTTAGE ST It’s a grocery store in a vacation town. There’s not much more to say about it. For a grocery store they have a decent selection and if you’re in town for a few days and not eating out for every meal you’ll eventually come here and you’ll probably buy some beer here as well. |
86 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Our first beer stop in Bar Harbor and we did dinner here our first night. Beautiful wood smoke fills the nose as you walk in. A touch on the dark side visually with low lighting on top of the dark black and red décor. Food was incredible. Prices seem a bit high, but this is a vacation town and the prices reflect that. Everything that we ordered had some aspect of it that was done over the wood fire, even the salads which had amazing slow roasted smokey vegetables in them. Pizzas were great. This is probably the best taplist in Bar Harbor, 34 beers on tap, well curated and featuring as much local and Maine stuff as possible. Some Allagash, Maine Beer Co. and like every other place around Bar Harbor a good amount of Bar Harbor and Atlantic beers, but here there’s enough other good variety to keep it interesting. If this place wasn’t 8 hours away from me, and 3 away from Portland (or anything else really) I’d love to come back, even if only for the pizza with slow roasted smokey tomatoes on them. |
68 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST Packed even on a a windymonday night’
Good selection of Maine craft beers as well as a great selection of west coast beers will be back |
66 /100 Lompoc Café (Restaurant) 36 RODICK STREET Apparently this place has been here for years. I was told by a friend that I had to visit while I was in town. Turned out to be a nice place. Local beers were available on tap and the food was decent. |
68 /100 Finback Alehouse (Restaurant) 30 COTTAGE ST Ate here during a vacation to Bar Harbor. Nice place, with good food and decent beer selection of local beers. A bit pricey, like everything else in Bar Harbor. |
60 /100 Geddy's (Restaurant) 19 MAIN ST Fine place to take the family. Lots to look at and keep the kids busy looking for old licence plates on the wall. Not a bad selection of regional brews. Food was pretty standard pub fare, nothing to write home about. |
84 /100 McKay’s Public House (Restaurant) 231 MAIN STREET Nicely landscaped quiet outdoor patio. Killer crab cakes. Tight maine focused micro brew beer list. Reasonable prices. Would return. |
60 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Mainely meats bbq and atlantic brewing beers. Outdoor patio. Free brewery tours. Gift shop. Sausage was good from the meats platter, but we were starving after climbing so many mountains. Service was quite slow. Beer was okay. Not a bad place. Nice stop after a hike. |
74 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST A good selection of beers at this place. The waitress was nice but not very good. Food was ok I had something pan fried as opposed to wood fire cooked. Because of the camp fire in the kitchen the back of the restaurant can get hot in the back. We sat outside. I recommend the adult float. It’s Allagash Black and scoop of local vanilla ice cream. |
84 /100 15 KNOX ROAD One of the smaller breweries that I have been to. Very interesting to see how they do the bottling for this place. After the tour there was a speed tasting session. Almost all their beers were available in bottle. |
82 /100 McKay’s Public House (Restaurant) 231 MAIN STREET just sat outside in late sept ... the staff was helpful on the beer.
More restaurant than beer. But both food and beer would good. Expect to spend some $$ (dinner for 2 with tip = $100) |
72 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Located outside of Bar Harbor on the north side, down a gravel road. A small bar and indoor area with several long tables, and several tables outside under cover. The BBQ is quite good. Beer selection is OK. I got an IPA and my wife the Blueberry. Good service. |
76 /100 Blaze (Restaurant) 198 MAIN ST 21 Aug 2011 -- We stumbled on this place just off the main square in Bar Harbor and decided to check it out ’cause it looked cool. Surprise, surprise ... 32 craft beers on tap, and only 6 imports ... most of the US choices being regional. A no-kidding fire pit going in the kitchen and wood-fired pizzas on tap too. The service and food was just a bit "outside" ... but the next day we found out that we’d accidentally walked in this place on only Day 2. Given that, this was a hit. And after a couple days on the island, it’s easy for me to say that this is the top beer destination in town. If you have one stop to make, go here first ... Atlantic/Bar Harbor (same company, different store fronts) and Jack Russell are second priorities if you’re an out of towner and have to choose. Plus the food and service are good to boot. |
46 /100 102 EDEN STREET August 2011. This is an old house converted into a kitschy restaurant, with a brewery in the old garage out back (aka Maine Coast Brewery). The stout was pretty good ... didn’t eat, and it didn’t seem like many others were either. There were a few hotties working there though, so it’s worth a stop. Sit outside and try a beer or two. |
52 /100 15 KNOX ROAD August 2011. In a wooded setting on the outskirts of the Bar Harbor/Acadia area, this place has a unique set-up for a brewery, with emphasis on a gift shop. They do offer a wide array of beers and glassware from places across the area. A small BBQ joint is connected and offers the beers on tap. The food smelled good, but we didn’t eat. The beers were nothing to write home about, but good enough to hit the spot after a long drive to the island. |
58 /100 15 KNOX ROAD Vistited here with some longtime family friends during a Maine vacation with my folks last year. Beers were meh as expected. I have had my share of this breweries offerings during my time in Amherst. Food was pretty good, I got a bbq sandwich which was pretty tasty. |
60 /100 Hannaford Supermarket (Grocery Store) 86 COTTAGE ST They had about 15 or so micros in six packs chilled and some bombers (including good imports) and warm sixers on display up front. These included beers brewed here in Bar Harbor, other parts of Maine, Canada, and elsewhere. Prices were about what I’d expect in that kind of tourist small town supermarket. Service was decent and they had some nice options for food to go along with the beers. I’d return for sure. |
68 /100 Thirsty Whale (Restaurant) 40 COTTAGE STREET I visited the Thirsty Whale while in town for my wedding. There is normal pub food that was enjoyable. They do have a great lobster roll. While we were there, there was great live music at night that went well with a good beer selection. |
