“I heard that it's not bad. I haven't been to try it some other day. It's also an interesting thing to punch in various brewery stores. I hope there will be a good experience. I also hope that China's brewery will develop better and better.“

“The overall feeling is not bad, but most people are a little troublesome. After all, it's okay to belong to the domestic first-tier refined brand. I hope it will get better and better in the future.“

“Big brewpub a block southeast of Guomao, in the CBD. Not crowded, but with good attendance on a wednesday. Imposing and commercial upon entry, but boy, these guys know what they do. Whoever invested in this really found the right people... Expected a beer menu filled with nonsense and translation errors, but found it insightful and filled with useful information. Food is crossover, while good it plays second fiddle to the beer. All 5 beers I tried were elegant and really well brewed. Another five house brews were available for takeaway on can. Staff were all super trained, whenever any waitor didn't manage to answer a question the next one or some manager were appearing within microseconds. Not your charming mom and pop place. Perhaps the exception to the rule that good beer and big money don't go together. Totally impressive.“

“I've defenetly liked this place. Two three self brewed beers and good choice of guest taps. Beer snacks are served. Personnel speak required level of English. Located on the bar street near the Lama Temple subwai station (line 2 and 5). Not all western cards are accepted so take some cash with you. (They have a device to produce crowlers so you could take any pf the draft beers with you)“

“A nice place in Jianchang Hutong. They've 10 beers on the tap and some bottles. The prizes are between 35 and 50 for the pint, they offer flights with 4 or 6 beers. Food you can order from the neighbour place..."we are one family" Their beers Beijing to the best what you can get in East Asia“

“Nice beer place with ~ 25 taps and I guess ~100 or so bottles. Very good variety. Nice atmosphere, good service. They offering the flights of 6 or 12 their tap beers, but the price for 6 is abnormal high - 180RNB :( Overall - very good beer place - recommended.“

“Got there only because its listed as No1 at Beijing. Totally disappointed... :( Crowded noisy uncomfortable dirty place at nowhere location. Several pretty simple beers on tap. No bottles offered. Basically no service at all - only pouring pints. Food is delivered by phone orders only -- looks really nasty. Huge disappointment from that place - highly not recommended unfortunately.“

Chez Gérard (Beer Store)

“A bottle shop that is very unassuming and in a hidden courtyard in the hutongs. Close by Arrow. Lots of bottles and some reasonable prices. Although not quite well organized, everything is refrigerated and nothing in direct sunlight. Mostly imports though.“

“A funky and upscale bar with lots of different rooms and patios. Fridges lines with local and import bottles along with a dozen taps make for a good selection. They have flights but they are only for odd/even taps, no choice. Patio is nice as is location. I think one of the better craft bars with a nice vibe.“

Punk Rock Noodles (Restaurant)
25 DONGGONG JIE DONGCHENG
“A trendy spot that extols the virtues of old British Pop, Punk and Ska. Many regulars in the scene and many who have likely read about it in a guide book. Beer selection is actually quite limited and of course only pints. Food is decent and cheap, beer is reasonably priced and service is quite decent. Not a beer place for sure, but if you are looking for an easy place to hang out where English and easy to read menu's are the norm. This is it.“

Panda Bar (Bar)
WUDAOYING HUTONG, DONGCHENG DISTRICT, 100007
“A tiny little spot in the middle of the hutong. Not really much too it and not much if anything on tap. Just bottles and a small list at that. Not really a great stop with the brewpub being so close, but a place to get cheap bottles to go. No CC, didn't ask about wifi as I didn't stick around. Almost no English at all, we had to use the translators to just manage me buying a bottle.“

“They don't brew anything here just sell Creature Comforts beer. Nothing too impressive and flights are expensive and in 8oz pours x 6. Nothing about this place makes sense, but if you are eating in the building, this is an option for drinks.“

62 /100 WORKERS’ STADIUM W RD (WEST GATE OF THE WORKERS’ STADIUM), CHAOYANG DISTRICT
“A large place that turns more nightclub and disco with dark mood lighting and loud music. A bit everywhere and nowhere with atmosphere, i found it not that appealing. Service was tricky with little english. Flights were available, but impossible to describe. It is on the menu though so show them and it will happen. Pours are much too big and 10 people could share the flight. For quantity the price was good. Not the place for me, but tickers gotta tick.“

“Beautiful spot in a nice hotel in a high end area. Very polished and upscale. Service was OK, although english wasn't as prominent as I would have expected for an international hotel. Selection was solid and flights available. Kinda pricey but if you get a happy hour deal or do a lunch special it is quite reasonable. Food was decent but nothing outstanding. Beer was pretty good and I think this is a pretty safe and decent stop.“

Deal Beer (Bar)
4 JIAODAOKOU BEIERTIAO DONGCHENG DISTRICT
“In an alley of the main street, this place is a bit too open and woody for my tastes. Smoking inside. Service was nice, but they are owned by Pieping House, so I expect it to slide. Small beer selection, locals are cheap and from mainly Pieping house. I saw a flight board, but with so few taps not real point. A few fun things in the fridge at higher prices. They plan to start focusiing on Gin and they have a huge selection. Craft beer seems to be a small afterthought of sorts, although the walls are decorated with posters. Very odd place.“

Beer Guys (Bar)
NO.91 OLD GULOU STREET
“A very tiny but beer geek forward spot. You can try beers or buy glasses but no flights. Large import list, focusing on the higher end and a nice bottle list. Service was troublesome because of English, but they tried very hard and it worked out. Prices are inline with expensive China craft. If I were interested in imports more than locals, this would be my spot.“

“A fun renovated old building overlooking the river. Too much staff and not enough to do, so as usual not great or confused service. Flights and better menus than the other location. Prices during happy hour are bearable and food is decent. A solid stop if you are crawling around the area.“

“Like all the other Asian brewpubs under the mega umbrella, it is more of a gimmicky German beerhall. Only their most basic beers at high prices. Considering all the places close by, I would skip it.“

“In the far reaches in the old Olympic Plaza, this bigger and glossy version of the NBeerPub is just a horrific endeavor. Ambiance is a bit boring and artificial. All the beer bottles are a bit distracting and it seems they tried too hard. Service was OK, but English was very limited. For a bit place it was pretty empty and most were upscale locals. Selection was solid, flights available and prices outrageous. Basically, just skip this one and go to the more down to earth original which is so much better.“

78 /100 DAILY 3PM-LATE, F1-6, 1/F, HUGUO XINTIANDI, 85 HUGUOSI DAJIE, XICHENG DISTRICT
“The original is a much better option than the new one. Ambiance is more quaint and with more people in it a bit more comfortable. The Hutong surrounding it is also much more local and cheaper than some of the ones more central. Service was difficult with very little English, but still more pleasant. They seemed to be having fun and smiling with some of the local customers. A refreshing and pleasant change. Customers were mixed 50/50 and no tourists. Selection was solid with almost 20 beers of their own and large selection of guest taps and bottles. Food was solid, get the hand cut fries. Flights were available, Wifi and for some reason the flight was much cheaper here than at the new location. Also they let you try the special editions which they don't at the new location. All in all, this was one of my favorites, although the beer itself wasn't spectacular, the atmosphere was spot on.“

“Although physically comfortable there is something decidedly disjointed about this place. Pseudo steampunk theme that doesn't translate well. Service was decent, but it was hard to understand with such little english being spoken. Flights available in nice glasses and wifi. No credit cards and pretty expensive.“

“Deep in a Hutong this is a nice spot that had quite a few locals, but still more expats. As usual the service was pretty bad, but they had wifi and cheap flights. Selection isn't as large as the others and many were sold out. Quiet and pleasant, this is a nice break from the norm.“

“Narrow but modern multilevel brewpub with limited outdoor seating. In a very high end shopping district, this place was primarily filled with locals. Service had decent english and didn't seem nearly as apathetic as others in BJ. Guided english tours if it interests you. Flights and wifi were available, although the flights were pretty pricey. Food was good and quite reasonable. A nice spot all around.“

“A neat little place in the classic old hutong area, that is very hip and trendy. More expats than locals. English was spotty and it took a little to make them understand what I was looking for. They have flights and good wifi. 14 beers on tap, but prices were a tad high even for BJ. Cash only.“

“Similar atmosphere to #12 though apparently a different crowd. It was quiet on our visit. Selection was excellent - 2 more beers than #12 had at the same time. Couple of guest taps. Well worth the visit, even if you're at #12 worth popping over for this one.“

80 /100 WORKERS’ STADIUM W RD (WEST GATE OF THE WORKERS’ STADIUM), CHAOYANG DISTRICT
“Another easy-to-find brewpub in Beijing, just next to the West gate of the Workers’ Stadion. Went there during lunch time when I felt like the only guest. Spacious, modern brewpub with lots of wood and sunlight pouring in through large windows. Friendly, efficient service, everybody speaking English. Nice food (excellent lamb chops) and a range of home-brewed beers. Definitely worth a visit. Can be combined with a visit to Drei Kronen 1308 Brauhaus on the opposite side of the Workers’ Stadion (opposite the East gate).“

60 /100 NO. 46 FANGJIA HUTONG (ENTRANCE IS ON JIAODAOKOU NORTH 3RD ALLEY)
“The site is an old machine factory renovated into it’s current form as bar/restaurant. There’s 32 taps including a selection of their own onsite brews from the small kit upstairs plus guest taps from other Chinese based breweries. Flights available. Oddly enough, we encountered terrible service when sitting at the bar wanting to sample a few beers before committing to full pours. It didn’t seem they were too happy with this and as a result we were completely ignored until it came time to pay our bill. It probably wouldn’t stop me giving this place another try, even if it’s just to see what new house brews are available.“

“Large modern brewpub that sees the Slow Boat production move to central Beijing. It’s a multi-floor venue with brewing kit on full display. Concrete pillars run the length of the space with dining tables positioned between. Floor to ceiling high windows allow in plenty of natural light. New beers available from the onsite kit which should provide variety on visits. Food menu is burger-focused.“

50 /100 108 S. LUOGU ALLEY, DONGCHENG
“Popular cafe/bar due to its location right on Nanluoguxiang. There’s two unremarkable house brews available by an undisclosed brewery. Fridges have a selection but nothing of note when I was there. Service was slow pace. Other than the house beer ticks there’s no reason to stop by beer wise. Best to hit Great Leap a short walk away.“

“Cool little hutong taproom that Beijing does so well. Come here to try the Arrow Factory range. I find these are some of the better beers brewed in BJ. It’s a popular hangout so does get crowded due to it’s size. There’s food available next door at Stuff’d. Friendly spot that’s a solid addition to a BJ beer crawl.“

“Similar vibe and decor to the #12 location but with a more communal feel with long tables and open floor space. The brewing kit can be seen at the back. Pizza is the main focus here and it’s real good. I visited during a quiet lunch service and enjoyed my time. Natural light channel through the windows providing a nice atmosphere. Check out the steel laser-cut map of Beijing, very cool.“

“A lovely atmospheric taproom tucked away on Doujiao hutong. The bar is inside a beautifully renovated Qing era courtyard house with seating under large shady oak trees. It really is one of the most impressive spots to drink a beer. Food can be ordered in from neighbouring eateries. The other reviews cover it well. I’ve visited quite a number of times now, in different seasons, and it always proves to be a must visit for a relaxing beer when in Beijing.“

“Did not drink there because of the awful loud music they were playing and the ghastly Halloween decorations but bought several bottles from the fridge next to the entrance. The fridge contained not only their own Panda beers but about 50 different bottles from breweries I had never heard of, mostly American ones. Worth a second visit.“
