“Dive bar that has around thirty bottles and a regional brewery from tap. We got a few looks from other patrons because, well, we're tourists, and had a good look at the pinxtos that looked surprisingly tasty. Service was friendly. Bottle selection of mostly basque micros is really good. Open all week. A good option in the old town. Value is great at 3,5/bottle.“

“Nice place with a shop, a bakery, a big eating area and a big crowd trying to get in. Reserve a table if you want to have dinner. Seven taps, their own beers, something local. Bottle shop has more international offers as well. Service was slow but friendly, value alright but not great.“

“Nice bar with a lot of taps and great selection, although a few more regional options from tap, apart from the house beers, would have been nice. Scored many great Wylam offers here as well, tap and cans. Range of different sours were available as well, staff was nice and happy to recommend more. Prices can be a little steep sometimes, depending on the beers.“

“We visited here Monday 9th July 2018, we had asked the owner of La Catedral de Cerveza where we might get a decent beer locally and possibly bite to eat and was directed here. So for orientation purposes this is very close to the aforementioned beer shop and also close to the Mercado de la Ribera (Indoor market) so it is quite central and located on the east side of the river.

The area outside opens up a tiny bit so they might possibly get some chairs out here, and this is close to the end of the alley/passageway so whilst in an otherwise dark area with narrow stress and alleys this is a part where light does start to penetrate this area. The bar is a small simple set up, a few stools up to the bar and a few tables to the side. They do quite a lot of small snacks (Pinxtos). Beer choice was modest but very good, 5 on tap including a couple of very good micros, I recall Basqueland on and there were some very good bottles from the likes of Laugar, Basqueland, Urban Beer and La Pirata to name but a few. Service was good and the prices were also very reasonable. We only stayed for the one beer but on the basis that the choice is very good and it appears to be open at lunchtime during the week (we visited about 13:00 on a Monday) then it is a good place for beer in this area.“

“We visited La Catedral de la Cerveza Monday 9th July 2018. It is centrally located on the east side of the river and close to the large Mercado de la Ribera (Bilbaos huge indoor market, by the river. When we arrived it was probably quite close to lunchtime, it looked dark and appeared closed however a gentle push and the door opened. I think that we had just got here in time as the owner turned lights back on and seemed to suggest that he would hold off closing until we were done. It's a straightforward rectangular set up with beer stacked on shelves on both sides of the shop, the counter was at the rear.

Maybe there had been a rush on over the weekend but I noticed many of the shelves were a little sparse, I think that the owner did start to mention something in relation to stock but I didn't quite catch what he said. We felt a bit guiltily taking too long as the owner and an individual whom I presumed was his wife/partner (who was breast feeding their baby) probably wanted to shut up so we quickly scanned the Spanish Micros (left hand shelving) and picked up half a dozen beers. I never really took a good look at other beers but I did note that it appeared there were Belgian beers on the opposite side nearer the front of the shop. Prices were good, there was some great stuff from Laugar, Naparbier, Redneck and many others, however in terms of choice I tend to think that the beer shops that I had been to earlier on our holiday pipped this place. Más Ibus Despacho de Cervezas in Torralvega seemed better for Spanish beers and it had some taps and 3er Tiempo Tienda de Cervezas in Santander also had a decent Spanish selection but was streets ahead with it's excellent American selection, however please let me state this was a very nice shop and the owner seemed a lovely friendly and helpful person, I would have liked some further time here. As we paid I asked the owner for a suggestion of somewhere locally for a good beer and that would be open and thankfully he obliged with a suggestion that isn't currently on the site but was very handily literally just around the corner, I will add that in due course.“

“Nice beer bar in a central and very nice part of Bilbao. Service was great, very attentive and they know their beers, also specialize on coffee and have some basic but well made food to go with beer (mostly snacks and some cakes). Range was great, a couple of german lagers, some local stuff and then around 8 taps very well curated (Fourpure, Siren, Abraxas, Founders KBS, etc...). A great find in Bilbao!“
