“A nice old school brewpub in a shopping center type area, with a small indoor space, but an awesome outdoor biergarten. Service was good friendly and cordial, had beer suggestions, but was mostly just trying to turn tables for lunch crowd. Selection was solid, ran the table for styles, old and new, including hard seltzer and bourbon barrel barleywines. I'd go here again if I lived in the area for sure.“

“A pleasant enough place with memorabilia of reckless resource exploitation from a century ago. Beer is decent but no flights limits what you can reasonably taste in one visit. Food was good. Service was pleasant but not fast. Worth a short detour off 101 if you are passing through.“

“Biggish place rather outside the centre of town, great for us however as we were staying in a hotel practically next door. Good service. Decent selection on offer, most beers were rather good but the high gravity stuff was a bit disappointing. Food was great, I had the tri-tip dinner and my wife had the chilli with some onion rings. Prices were good, apart from the one 'special reserve' barley wine that I had, which was rather expensive. Worth a visit.“

“Great inside and outside. Service was great. Maybe ten taps or so from them? Food was fantastic. Prices were very reasonable for a brewery. Overall, great experience.“

“Stopped in here on 8/5/10 and got a sampler. Decent enough looking place, but they’re going for the local dive angle with lots of stickers with funny slogans up by the TV. Beers were not very good. Porter was the best and it was pretty mediocre. Didn’t try the food. Service was okay. I can’t say anything incredibly good or bad about the place. It’s just kind of average all the way across the board.“

“I had no idea what to expect at this stop. Other than that it was in Humboldt county, so our motel required the odd signature that we would not smoke or sell marijuana on the premises. We were so amused that we photographed the disclaimer. The Organic IPA here was scrumptious. Food was plentiful and decent (great burgers!), and service was great if you were at the bar like us. Otherwise, plenty full and busy, even on a Monday night. Troed several brews, but settled on the IPA as the best (my own taste). Interesting brewery with all sorts of folks as customers.“

“This is your typical American brewpub, with generous food, friendly service and clean, good brews. All in all, nothing really stood out (although the beer garden seemed like a nice place to hang out when it didn’t rain) and that is mostly why I can’t give Eel River a great score as a place.“

“Pretty decent selection of well-done beers. Didn’t try the food. The experience was marred by a bartender who was more interested in chatting with her local friends, than in serving us, to the point where she seemed irritated when we had to interrupt her to ask for another beer.“

“The food is pretty good but the atmosphere is a lot of fun. Customers are mostly locals but the friendly kind. Their selection has a good set of beers with a roatation of seasonal ales. The staff give the place a lot of energy which makes the experiance even better. Great time and great beer.“

“I go here occassionally, and there is no WalMart here. It is located just off the 101 Freeway and sits between a couple hotels. Lots of parking and a nice 30’ long bar and lots of tables. Service is always excellent and the staff is very friendly. They have an excellent selection of beers. The last time I was there I had their Fish and Chips, and the fish was about as good as you can ask for. Very nice atmosphere, better than average brewpub food, and an outstanding seleciion of beers makes this a place a beer lover will really enjoy. Their Ravens Eye Imperial Stout and Triple Exultation Old Ale are worth trying, and I also like their Organic IPA.“

“This place is stuck in a large grassy field, behind a WalMart or something, but not as bad as it sounds. Has a lodge and cabin feel to the inside, with a medium sized outdoor seating area/beer garden with copious amounts of hanging foliage. On our visit the service was slow and there were many mistakes made, even though there was not high traffic. The beer was decent, not outstanding, and the food was the same. It was worth a stop while traveling north on the freeway heading towards Arcada/Eureka, but it was hell to find coming off of the freeway.“
