“Red Dog has a very good selection and their staff is really helpful. I do find them a bit pricey compared to some other local shops, though.“

“Free dedicated parking. The beer is in a separate area with beer on shelves in a separate room, cold beers in refrigerated cases all the way in the back, they had beers on tap in the back center (from memory more than a dozen). I had a guy help most of the time I was here, so service was good. Prices were reasonable. Worth a shot.“

“Part of a big complex right next to Publix with a big paved parking lot. Ambiance is nice wine shop. The guys that work here know their stock and go out of their way to help you. Bottle selection was quite good, not nearly as picked over as Craft Brewed. Prices were the best for the area. Hope to come back.“

“As with other Mellow’s the pizza is great...overpriced, but great. The beer selection was pretty depressing honestly. Not really on the level of any of the Kentucky Mellow Mushrooms. It seems as if they don’t put much selection into their beer choices. Kegs are probably just restocked instead of focusing on new or interesting beers. Other Mellow’s I’ve been to will always have 20-30 taps going with different beers rotating out weekly. Still my beer was in good condition, but definitely not a beer destination when in Franklin.“

“Located in a non-descript strip mall with parking in front. Small bar at the entrance but also some long tables and couches. It had the comfortable feel of a friend’s basement rec room. They had over 20 beers on tap available in various sizes. They also had some food though it’s rather limited in scope though it was still tasty. The beers ranged from quaffable to pantheon. The milk stouts especially were extraordinary in their depth and complexity. They did a lot of riffing on Indian flavors which isn’t a surprise given the name and also the fact that Chopped judge Maneet Chaunhan has an affiliation of some sort with them. It was hard to believe that a place that served beers of such quality wasn’t busier, but more for us. And the folks behind the counter were friendly as well. We’ll definitely be back at least twice a year.“

“We liked this place enough to stop in on two consecutive days during a three day trip. Nice modern well-designed place that capitalizing on its hop leaf / lotus leaf insignia. Long bar, barrel tables and a comfy couch. Tons of beers on tap, available as full pours in nice glassware (not a shaker pint to be seen!) or in flights - a great deal at five bucks for four 4 ounce pours. Beers were very tasty and creative - probably the only saffron IPA I’ve ever seen. The sours and goses were my favorites though, light and easy to drink, all reasonable abvs (a positive aspect of Tennessee laws I guess). Sadly the brewhouse wasn’t visible, except in glimpses when staff entered or exited next to the bar. Snacks included cheese and salads. Friendly knowledgeable staff, but brewers and owners were present and took time to chat during our visit. Great place.“

“This place started as a New York style pizzeria and then they shoehorned a brewhouse into it - and I’m glad they did. Long bar and lots of tables, brewhouse is up front next to the door. We had a front row seat sitting at the bar and watching the brewer work. Lots of beers on tap, all were tasty. They had a pizza buffet at lunchtime, but we ordered off the menu, and the pizza was delicious (and I’m from New York and I’ve lived in Italy). Great service from friendly attentive staff. Well worth a visit.“

“30 taps, lots of stuff from Nashville micros but also a couple of taps and bottles from Franklin & Murfreesboro breweries. This place used to be a Bosco’s, so there’s a large bar up from with some bar tables. Much larger than any of the other Tupelo Honeys I’ve visited, so there’s no waiting for a table. Easy way to grab some tasty food and tour the regional breweries.“

“A bit of a schizophrenic place that can’t decide if InBev or craft rules the day. Bud advertisements are everywhere, and I counted almost a dozen different macro adjunct lagers on the list - since they all taste similar, why so many? The craft part of the menu is actually very strong, but it’s scattered throughout the menu, they should at least separate out the macro pale lagers. Bottle list is good too. Sports bar feel, with TVs everywhere. Food was standard pub grub, but tasty enough. Friendly service.“

“In a large shopping are next to a Publix, so there’s lots of parking. Beers are at the back, and selection is huge. Well organized by country and region with a good bit of local stuff plus ciders and meads. 15 taps or so, including a handful of local things. Growlers and crowlers available, and they had a bunch of crowlers in a cooler next to the taps for beers that had already tapped, a very nice touch. Friendly knowledgeable service. Great place.“

“In a large strip mall, so there’s plenty of parking. Well organized selection, beers at the back. Decent selection from the region, plus a handful of meads and ciders, none local though. A dozen taps or so for growler fills, only one local. Friendly service. Prices were OK. Worth a look.“

“Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. Located at a strip-mall. Ample parking outside. Not much of a crowd. Nice decor. 22 house brews on tap with a broad range of styles. Some interesting and unique brews here. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable and helped us put together a couple of custom flights. Flights were 4 beers for about $5. A pleasant laid-back visit overall.“

“Visited in July of 2015 and was impressed with the selection and especially the service. Bartenders knew their beer and enjoyed the food as well. Recommend if you are in the area. This is coming from a visitor to TN so I don’t know what is available in the stores or at other places.“

“Visited with friends. Plenty of parking in the strip mall, which I really appreciate. Clean, modern and roomy. The bar has a variety of mixed drinks in addition to their own beer selection. Seems like they keep 8-10 beers rotating on their taps and they create new beers often. I didn’t get a chance to sample the food, but I expect to visit again soon.“

“I used to like this place quite a bit, but it’s gone down hill as of lately. The service used to be exceptional, and now - not so much. Their selection is pretty good, and the main reason I used to like this shop was because every beer was available as a single. Now, while most beers are available as a single, there are some that aren’t, and when I’ve asked to break down the pack, I’ve been told no.“

“(Visited 02/2013): This Mellow Mushroom location is in downtown Franklin near the public square on Main Street. Parking can be found in lots, on the street and in a couple garages nearby.

The interior stays true to the theme of other locations. Kind of a grateful dead meets family restaurant vibe. The bar is in the rear with a view of the taps.

Selection at this location consists of about 20 draughts with only a couple standouts from Terrapin and Victory, the rest being macros or very common craft brewers. Similar situation with the bottles.

Service during my brief visit at the bar was friendly if not overly passionate about beer.

I did not have any food on this visit so will not rate it, but suffice to say the menu is essentially the same as other locations and it stands to reason the quality is too. I typically enjoy the food.

All in all this branch does not seem to share quite the same emphasis on variety and quality of beer that other locations I have visited do, but may still be worth a stop for a visitor in the area.“

“Kudos to Derrick Morse (brewmaster), particularly for the Yeasty Nasty and Hop Brutality, both of which can stand proudly in any company. This is a comfortable place to spend an evening, with a knowledgeable crowd, good live entertainment, friendly staff, and a brewmaster who spends time with customers talking about beer. It is tough to put a number on selection - there is good variety, but as far as I could see, only Cool Springs brerws are available. This place is worth a stop.“

“Solid food, although they aren’t sure what they want to be...pub food, italian, fancy...food is good, but need identity. But this is about the beer. And the beer here is by far the most interesting and best being produced commercially in the region...bar none. Worth the trip for beer alone.“

“(Visited 05/2012): Cool Springs brewpub is located in a strip mall on Frazier Drive on the northeast side of Franklin, near I-65. The plaza has a pretty good-sized parking lot.

The interior has kind of a modern look, with brick and purple paint. Several TVs including a couple really big ones, lending to kind of a sports bar feel. Snarky beer signs too. The bar is past the growler stand (more on that in a minute) and there is table seating in the rest of the space.

Cool Springs has 6 of their beers on tap, including a Saison, APA, Kölsch and Coconut Porter on our visit. The beers are all decent, with the Coconut Porter being the standout. They also offer a sampler.

Service on a slow evening was pretty good. The bartender knew the beers and was happy to fill growlers. However due to whatever bizarre TN law we were not allowed to take the growler from the bar, we had to walk back to the front of the brewpub and pick it up from a special "growler window". It was not a hassle or anything, just silly considering the bartender still just handed it to us, same as if she would have done at the bar.

We did not try any food on this visit.

All in all I would definitely recommend checking this place out in Franklin.“

“Very friendly staff with great pizza (I’ve only tried the Venetian, but I was happy). There was a great variety of beers some, particularly the IPA and APA. The eating area has close proximity to the brewing area which is great if you don’t mind some faint hints of smell of the brewing process going on. I would stop by here if you’re in town.“

“I was pleasantly surprised with this place. I had the Shin er Christmas ale, which has a very delicate balance of flavors, and my pint poured so cleanly, I couldn’t have done it better from a bottle. I have come to expect dirty tap line, but this place does not have them. the bartenders were also very knowledgeable about the beers they had on tap, up to a point of being able to tell me what was available without having to look it up (and they have a lot of beers). The selection is smaller than Flying Saucer, but it is also more diverse.“

“The best happy hour in town. 2.75 for their draft beers and cheaper bottles for people who dont drink craft beer. I have been coming here for years. Great place to go and let rush hour die out. Everyone that comes here is extremley friendly. I have met many out of towners that always come back when they are in town. New menu coming out soon. Come try it out if you are passing through Franklin. Jackhammer and the dark beers are the best.“

“Shocked this place is in the database, but what the heck I will rate it. Was here back in September 2009 just a short walk from the hotel. Not really a craft beer location, but they did have some options. The manager turned on the NIU game for us so that was nice. Pizza was okay but pretty sure they messed up our order. It was a long freaking day then and I was just happy to sit down and get something to eat and drink.“

“Got to check this place out while I’m back in town for a few weeks. The bar was long and spacious, also lots of booths and table seating. Tap selection was large and looked awesome at first, but after looking at it a little more, I realized that 90% of the taps can be bought in local grocery stores. There was nothing really special on tap like you usually find at the Midtown location. I got the cajun sampler- red beans and rice, gumbo, jambalaya. I swear to god i put there cajun food to shame when I cook it on my own. Oh well, I wasn’t expecting much anyway. Another thing that bothered me was the fact that the bartender was going outside every 20 minutes or so to smoke what smelled like a cigar, maybe it was a philly or black and mild or something because it was more dank than a cigarette aroma, it could have been a weed blunt, not that I care that he was smoking necessarily, other than the fact that it was all I could smell on my glass when he poured the beers. The setup of the restaurant is way more open than the Midtown location since this used to be a Texas Roadhouse. I would take the outright cigarette smoke and cramped hell of the Midtown location along with the better tap list than this place on most days.“

“Definitely better than the Mellow Mushroom in Nashville, this has a larger selection of taps (from what I can tell they were much cleaner, too) and the food seems to be made with more care. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and loves that this place can make a pizza or calzone with vegan cheese (which I think tastes like mayo). Weird cheese aside, this has plenty of space, parking might be a problem on busier days, but it’s right next a strip of great historic franklin shops.“

“I like that the beer has it’s own section- a little side room of to the ...side... It’s not the best, and it favors four-packs and six-packs more so than individual bottles. They also don’t seem to favor one-offs or collections like Woody’s next door does.“

“Really a cool place. I’m not from TN, so I’m not used to being able to drink a beer that you just bought, unless its a bar or restaurant. I love the whole lounge setup. The lounge looks a little dirty, though- more like a barn loft with leather chairs. But still very comfortable with a great selection. Updated 10/6/2011: The lounge is gone, so are the taps, and the selection has dropped. You probably don’t want to go here, the new Whole Foods has a better low grav selection.“

“Beer aficionados, look elsewhere (Mellow Mushroon is close by) If want a cozy but crowded Irish influenced pub, then this is your place. Expect to find the usual UK and US macros. There dozens of Irish bars in Nashville and probably hundreds of bars that serve Guinness- so I see no reason for this place to even be listed. And of the 3 times I have been to Ireland and the dozens of pubs I visited- not one put a Shamrock on the head. So I would guess that it’s not a true authentic pour (for those that care)“
