76 /100 721 HANOVER PIKE This is a tiny little place in a shopping center, half of the space taken up by the brewery, just about 20 seats or so at the front. Friendly staff, pretty good beers across a pretty good spectrum. Unique story.
Unique, enjoyable decor. Hopefully they can grow out of this little spot). Brewery #929. |
58 /100 2300 HARVEY GUMMEL RD Maryland may not at first glance seem like the state with multiple farm breweries, but Ruhlman makes the count at least 3. Ruhlman is a small, pre-fab garage tap room located mere steps from the owners house. There is ample parking alongside the corn fields. A crusty, ponytailed man greeted us inside and offered samples from plastic mouthwash cups of some fairly mediocre beers. Infection seems like a problem, so I will need to revisit later hoping they clean things up. The base beer seems good, but sanitation may be a current issue. Snacks are available for sale as are packaged beers. |
76 /100 2300 HARVEY GUMMEL RD This place is a farm where, among other things, owner Henry and his wife grow the Cascade hops they use in brewing. They had nine beers on when I stopped by, free samples served in little plastic cups. Growlers fills, pre-filled growlers and bottles are all available, at very reasonable prices - growlers were $8.50. Beers were tasty. Although they’re open year round, the best time to visit is summer, when they have live music and frisbee golf. Worth a stop. |
