“ter plaatse op 5 augustus 2019 Niet enkel online je kan er ook echt ter plaatse in het magazijn aankopen. Wel groot aanbod met veel moeilijk vindbare bieren. Iets duurder in een oud pand, wat een verschil met verzorgde Comptoir des Boisson te Tihange dat ik daarna heb bezocht.“

“Visited two weeks ago. Just off the highway. Tiny entrance, missed it and drove past it first. Parking in front of the door limited available. Big selection of various belgians, osme french and more international stuff. Good prices.Well worth a stop if passing by.“

“An Aladin's Cave of a beer shop, just off the E25 motorway as it passes through Liege. Huge selection of interesting beers at fair prices, lots of unusual stuff both Belgian and international. We were left to wander around and chose at leisure what beers we wanted although help was available if needed.“

“Visited the day after New Year's Day on a cold but bright afternoon, this place, which is seemingly oblivious to the fact that Antwerp has an even more famous craft beer pub with the same name, felt welcoming and cosy, with not too many people inside; we had ample room to sit and chose a low bench near the exit. Bottle list is traditionally Belgian and a lot more standard than I had been hoping for (Dubuisson, Dupont, De Ranke etc.) but the - apparently rotating - tap list did have some surprises, mostly unknown beers from small local producers, at reasonable prices. Friendly and efficient service, too, we were being served at the small table where we sat. Has a kind of 'brown' atmosphere which becomes all the more apparent when you go downstairs to the toilet: the further I penetrated in this pub's dark bowels, the more sleezy and dirty it became. I would definitely not recommend the toilet here for either ladies or children, but other than that, a pleasant enough experience with several ticks for me, too bad the shop wasn't open to take some bottles home, though. Will probably revisit whenever I'm back in the "Cité Ardente".“

“One of the established 'biercafés' in Belgium and a fixed value in the city of Liège, this pub once boasted the largest selection of Belgian beers and I have been wanting to visit it (or any of the different branches it has spawned in all those years) for a long time. Finally made it there on New Year's Day, when the entire city of Liège eats a sauerkraut dish for good fortune - available at Le Vaudrée as well, but we only had beer there. A very 'deep' pub, with a very long bar stretching all the way to the back; binders with the beer menu on or next to every table. The beer list was long but Belgian only, with a great number of lesser known, local Walloon beers, as was to be expected. Be ware, though: both the list and the bottles corresponding with it, are far from fresh, with several bottles being oxidized and prices on the list no longer up to date; my friend had a four year old Boon Mariage Parfait Geuze but when the bill came, was charged 3 € more than indicated in the list because the list was "outdated". Obviously we did not agree to pay that extra money - and we didn't - but it does show that inquiring about the prices before you order, might be recommended here. Halfway the pub, there is a refrigerated storage room which does harbour a few foreign beers (varying from Asian macro lagers to e.g. Brooklyn's Local 2) and it is possible to buy these, either to be consumed "sur place" or to take away. Be sure to ask for the prices in that case as well (which the people behind the bar will look up for you in a central computer system). Service was friendly enough, albeit a bit on the slow side in spite of the fact that apart from us, there were only about five to seven other visitors at the time, so one can wonder how service goes when the place is full... On the plus side, when the Saison Dupont Biologique my girlfriend ordered was out of stock, the lady behind the bar came up with five alternatives for it (including Saxo Bio which is what she went for eventually), something we could really appreciate. In all, certainly not an unpleasant experience albeit a bit odd; after so many years, it came as no surprise that it has a kind of 'faded glory' feeling to it and I would not go back to Liège for this pub alone.“

“It was a very nice surprise to find the stairs towards this oasis in the old part of Liege. So a very nice spot, up the stairs, ending in a beer garden with terraces around a small pond, a brewery in an old church. They serve only their own beer (and then mainly their pilsener), and personnel doesn't know very much to tell about it. No food. There is a shop, also only with their own brews. So, an enchanting place, with a superb outside spot, but the limitation to their own beer is a pity.“

“It's just a grocery store which sells organic products. Among them are about 20 different beers from Dupont, Brunehaut and La Caracole, that's about it. I wouldn't advise anyone to come here specifically for the beer but it's still a nice shop nevertheless.“

“A surprisingly nice beer focused restaurant, offering a very large selection of Belgian beers (with a tiny non-Belgian selection that’s well known). Certainly you’ll find some ticks here like the beer’s from Bouillon or Authentique. Friendly service, quiet (on Sunday lunch hour, they open at 12h), very cool walk in beer fridge. Good was actually very nice, fresh, tasty Belgian fries, well made burgers and for fair prices. Beer was on the expensive side they for Belgium. We really enjoyed our visit.“

“What a huge disappointment, what a contrast with the very professional website and the dirty reality we encountered! The place is not cosy at all. Ikea furniture, all very generic and soulless. Menu was dirty and sticky with beer and dirt. The whole place smelled like the day after a huge party, like stale spilled beer. Upon arrival we asked if we could eat something there, to which they replied positively. We knew from the website, that the only real meal-item was a croque (grilled cheese sandwich), all other stuff was finger food (wings, olives, cheese plate with crackers). But when we ordered, they told us they were out of croques and the only thing they had left was nachos and cheese plate. How the F can you be out of croques, when your business has only just opened up for lunch? How do you expect to make it through the day, if you can’t serve your signature dish? A huge let down, it was... Don’t think I’ll be back any time soon.“

“A bit pricey sometimes, but they did have an awesome selection. Only had time for 2 beers, alas, but I found at least 12 new ticks in their beer menu. And that means a lot, for a Belgian ticker like myself! They also regularly put new beers on the list, as some of them only came out recently. Atmosphere is rather poorly though. Very bright white (TL?) lights, sticky tables, rather slow and uninterested service, etc. I’ll be back, one day, but only for the ticks, not for the atmosphere.“

RUE SAINT GILLES 130
“At first glance, I saw a number of new ticks for me, even though the selection is not really that big. (I’d estimate a good 100, maybe a bit more) At second glance I saw the prices of the bottles, and I fled from the shop immediately. This is madness. They sell the beers here for prices you would expect in a bar, not in a shop! Most were € 3.5 and up, for 33cl bottles. Ridiculous, this is not the historic centre of Brussels, this is on the outskirts of Liege (and quite a walk, if I may add). Even saw them asking € 5.5 for a 37.5cl bottle of the locally produced Curtius beer. Hell, that’s even more than the bars down town charge for it! This is just ridiculous. They can rip off other tourists if they think that’s profitable, but they didn’t get my money. No way, José! Shame on you!“

“A bit out of the centre, but worth the walk. The food looked good, but we did not try. Beer menu is fairly extensive, containing a lot of the usual stuff, but quite a few rarities too. The bottles are in a store room at the far end of the bar ans can be purchased to take out, also pop in the shop across the road.“

“Located at the side of/behind of no. 9. Look for the garish signs on the side of the gate. A passage lined with murals leads down to the bar. The bar is also is clad with psychadellic paintings, mirrors, all sorts of stuff. They have quite a big beer range, but nothing interesting for the seasoned drinker.“
