“Location is inside the backyard, with many bars, Bratyska half stairs up. Amazing beerspot. Music items on the walls. Rock music played, tracks shown on screen. 23 of 30 taps were loaded on my visit, and ukrainian craft on most of them. Even small breweries outside RateBeer's universe. QRcode for menu, which i instead found @ Menu · qrmenu.biz https://app.qrmenu.biz/menu/84bc8542a101652a Kitchen delivers good food. Staff are young and speak a little english. Card pay possible. I recommend Bratyska.“

“Eight on the board at my visit. Nanobreweries also. Tasty beer snacks as fried chicken wings and fried potatoes. All tasty. Staff wore black t-shirts sponsored by Brater. Varka is a beerspot where one may find something new.“

“Reminds me of my visit to Urquell site in Plzen (Pilsen), Staropramen (Praha) or as an enlarged Mack (Norway). Nice place with friends, but as solo not overwhelming. Macro Lvivske beers. Just okay.“

“Not the easiest place to find, as the location is inside a block, west of Taras Shevchenko statue. Sixteen taps. Beers from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa, and Lviv. I would say that is a good craft beer selection. Not much chairs here. Many small tables, good for beers and drinking while standing. Decent pizzas. Definetely a beerspot.“

“Typical 19th century brick building just two blocks south of the oldest city. Slightly 1920-look inside, and some dark wallpaper and things reminded me of Master and Margarita. At least fifteen taps, krany. Korolivska, Brater, CopperHead, Kant, Burgomistr, Zeman, Sambir, and cidres of Zolotonosha at my visit. I chose kovbasy z hrybamy to eat.“

“Just fifty metres WNW of Ratusha Lviv, Rynok, huge beerpoint on the NW corner of the block. Dozen taps and hundred bottles. Many beer-gifts in that shop. "Pravda Pivoteka". Pity that covid19, kitchen could not work. Brewery brews quite close to the appropriate style. I came before 14'', a calm time. When in Lviv, visit Pravda.“

“Visited in October 2018. Clean basement pub a stone's throw away from Pravda. Good service, nice and welcoming interior. 20 taps, apart from their own stuff they also serve guest breweries, e.g. Varvar. There is literally no reason not to visit this place, as it's among the best of its type in Lwów.“

Choven (Bar)

“Visited in October 2018. This was by far the busiest craft beer spot in Lwów. Lots of patrons, with the median age being quite young. Very nice, lively atmosphere. The staff did their best but was overwhelmed, which is understandable, as the place was packed full. 16 taps, a handful of imports among them. Other than that it is luckily a place to sample Ukrainian craft beer. The price of a tasting board varies depending on the beers chosen, though you have to pay 1-1,5 EUR per 0,22l, which is very fair. On a side note, the Pravda beers that were available were from single batches and much more interesting than the beers at the brewery. I can very well understand why Choven is rated so highly - it is truly a must-see when in Lwów.“

“Visited in October 2018. One of the main craft beer spots in the city. Waiting service both beautiful and efficient, some pub food, a nice, dimly lit cave/basement feel without the odour that is more than often prevalent in such places. The chalk board sports 24 different draught local brews and there are sampling trays. There is no reason not to go here, a very nice and inviting place.“

Zalizyaka (Bar)

“Popped in unexpectedly in October 2018, upon seeing that they have 8 taps. One of the many craft beer places in Lwów, this one has a more disordered, haphazard look than the other, typically theme-oriented venues. With that being said, it's a nice, smallish meeting spot for local youth. The service is nice and they also have food - delicious ribs and a surprising, not spicy pumpkin soup for example. The taps seem to be rotating ones. Nice venue.“

“Visited in October 2018. This place is huge, which shows how big craft beer is in Lwów at the moment. A whole building at the main square, complete with several storeys and a huge amount of tables. Slightly industrial decor, lots of live shows on many evenings. Service was good, food was superb - the veal was wonderfully tender. Beerwise Pravda is definitely not the European cream of the crop, though some beers were definitely agreeable. On the downside is the ill-concealed nationalistic chauvinism of the people who run or own this place, as visible in the politically charged lighting or the label of their imperial stout.“

Meat and Justice (Restaurant)
VALOVA ST. 20
“Retro style restaurant with wooden deco and torture paraphernalia on the inside of the eastern part of the old town fortifications. It carries Pravda beers, so it is one of the many craft beer spots around town. Alas, the beer is not nor should be your main concern when you come here. Meat is. Meat of different varieties grilled over open fire. I had the most delicious veal in my life in this restaurant. It was more tender than any sirloin I have eaten. And it was no sirloin. Service was very nice and prices affordable. One of my favourite restaurants in Lwów.“

“Visited in October 2018. Huge hall with the brewing equipment centrally on display, a lot of wooden tables and benches and the walls decorated in a way that makes them resemble old building fronts. Kitschy but agreeable. There's a huge beer garden in front of the building but that was obviously not functional in late Autumn. The food was good, the beers were not, though at a price of roughly 2,20 euro per 4x200ml tasting tray the latter did not matter much. On the upside - the hostess that guided me to my table was strikingly beautiful, as were some of the waitresses. Plus, there was a stage in front of the brewhouse with an approximately 7m long pole. I gather from internet reviews written by disgusted tourists that there are striptease parties in this brewery held at nighttime. While those tourists may confuse pole dance with striptease, I sincerely regret having missed the occasion to become "disgusted" myself. Bottom line - don't come here for the uninspiring beer, though the parties might be worth it.“

“Visited in October 2018. Not very spacious interior in a red-brown colouring, with pre-war music coming from the speakers. Not really my type though good for what it is. Many Kumpel beers obviously, though some only in bottles. Ok service. Somewhat uninspiring compared to other venues in this city.“

Baczewski (Restaurant)
SHEVSKA STREET 8
“Visited in October 2018. Like many places in Lwów, this one also carries craft beer, namely Kumpel in a variety of bottles. Granted, you don't go there for craft beer, as you can find that in every second or third restaurant in this city. You go to Baczewski for a variety of reasons. 1. the decor - an old pre-war Polish restaurant evoking the charme of the 1920's, music included. 2. the service - impeccable, old fashioned, classy and yet not pretentious. 3. the food - traditional galician style food in a wide array of dishes. Gorgeous. 4. the vodka - it comes in many different flavours and even a person as anti-vodka as I am found a liking in their stuff. One of the best places in Lwów, if not the best one. Be careful to make a reservation, as it is hugely popular. The best restaurant I have ever been to. Honestly.“

“Visited in October 2018. Very spacious retro style restaurant amidst an overkill of communist era apartment housings. Lots of wood inside mainly. Very good traditional cuisine. Try their vareniki with sour cream and borsch with meat and you won't be disappointed. Very nice service. Alas, the beer was flawed and frankly very bad. I did a detour to get here and while experiences of this kind rarely make me regret my travel decisions, there are certainly better places in Lwów beerwise.“
