“They force you to order food in order to sit and have a beer. No bloody thank you.“

“Nice little bottle shop/bar with a big selection of Belgian and local craft beers. Shame it seems it's rather pricey for local standards.“

“Probably one of the best places in Mexico City, if not the best, in terms of selection. Relatively new, with a big tap list. Flights available. Food pretty good. Expensive on Mexican standards though. Lots of local stuff and lots of American micros on tap here as well. Good service.“

“OK, CRITICAL TO NOTE THIS PLACE HAS MOVED. It is no longer in front of the Monument; it's well outside of city center. Check google before you go. You know what, don't go actually. The space is very cool, open, plenty of tables, couches, industrial but cozy with a bakery attached. That's when it goes downhill. Sorry, the staff are great too, but I don't know who they are waiting on. Cristana has 10 beers on the menu... but only one is available. Unlucky for me, it was their imperial Alt when I was there. They have plenty of fermenters... so maybe they are just selling out? Nah, the brewing equipment is just for show and not even hooked up. Don't want an imperial Alt? Well, you can get a can of Mexican macro OR some VERY pricey imports at about $9 a bottle. There is food, but it's extremely uninspired. There are so many good places out there, skip this.“

“A bit outside of the downtown area, I took the metro and got here easily. I was surprised to find an open and modern industrial space with a food truck permanently parked inside. Best way to view the beer menu is by hooking up to the free wifi, but then... oh, what a beer menu it is. 50ish taps, lots of Mexican craft stuff I hadn't seen anywhere. Prices were good, sample sizes for about $1 a pop. Flights allowed. Staff was attentive, some spoke English. Very pleased.“

“Smack dab in the Roma neighborhood, which is the hot spot for basically everything. Cool space. Brewing equipment on the first floor, open air tasting room/bar space on the second. Great service, food on site was tasty. Beers were above average for Mexican craft and prices were on par for Mexico City. This could be the class of the CDMX craft beer scene.“

“Nice little bar in Mexico City. Rock music and skulls as decoration. The food is tasty, try the chilli nachos and german sausage. A decent variety of beers every week (mostly ales).“

“Cozy place with decent selection, added points for some of the best homebrews in the city and canning service for 1L growlers. Varied and tasty menu. Friendly service, only complaint is the loud pop music. Has become my local pub, very recommended if in the area.“

“Cool little place right next to my airbnb in Mexico City. They had mostly Minerva on tap and Colima. Minerva makes sense as they are owned by them. Lots of bottles as well as the 10 or so taps. They are happy to let you try taps before committing to pint - I'd advise as many Colimas were infected.“

“Massive place with some cool decoration, particularly the falling piano of namesake. I was in on a weekday afternoon and it was dead. Nonetheless service was bored and bad. Beers were all below average - this place needs some work. Pity to have such a nice huge place with this quality of beer. They do flights.“

“First prize for most creative name in Mexico beer scene, though Brewer Gastropub in Queretaro was a close second. Possibly the best tap list in Mexico City, with something like 25 taps, mostly Mexican and U.S. Literally tons to get through, and they do flights, though including the U.S. beers can be pricey. Service OK and ambiance low key in the middle of the day on a weekday when I was here. Server had good advice on beer.“

“Probably the best place in Mexico City in terms of selection still. Tons of bottles, like over 60 available, with two or three taps. The guys mostly know their stuff and are happy to talk beer - the only down point being when I asked the bartender for a recommendation for my last one and he goes and pops open a golden ale for me before I can even say "wait!" It was an above average golden ale, but a golden ale nonetheless - and this with a fridge full of stouts, IPAs, Belgians and other real beers. Hmmm... Anyway, cool little hole in the wall nonetheless, and friendly service.“

“Massive brewery in a shopping mall in the south of Mexico City. Not easy to get to in Mexico City traffic, but then what is. A fair amount of beer on selection, along with a lot of fruit beer variants. I had rib tacos and they were awesome. Other food from friends was great too. Service pretty oblivious on the beer seen, but attentive enough. Flights and small 4oz pours available for everything. They have a happy hour as well, two four one.“

“I only had one house brew and it was meh. The interior is spacious and pretty cool, but we sat outside, which was also pleasant. The service was OK. I think there was at least one mislabelled beer on the really crappy menu we received. Too many Primus beers on tap. Pretty crappy brewpub. The brewing facilities here look particularly pathetic.“

“This is a mediocre place in the heart of Mexico City. There is also a second location in Polanco. The bar seemed to have a standardized and unchanging beer menu. They were out of about 50% of the beers when we were there. I think they had other beers replacing those taps but no one ever told us. Place felt stale and lame and we felt stupid sitting outside. That said the street we were on was not one of the cooler streets in the city so no judgement I guess. CDMX has way better places. No one spoke workable English, by the way. At least they did small pours. That said they gave me the wrong beer at least once.“

El Grifo (Bar)
CALLE JUAN ESCUTIA 24 B, COLONIA CONDESA
“This is a small shop/bar connected to an affiliated pizza shop. The waiters/shopkeepers service both establishments. El Grifo has about 200 or so bottles of mostly Mexican beer from all sorts of craft breweries... Colima, Zorra, Chingoneria, Tulum, etc... plus, they have a smaller curated Mezcal selection. Some of the beer is less than fresh, but they have a pretty good turnover. You can also get samples of all of the mezcals, which is pretty great. The shoptender/waiter, Luis, speaks very good English and is very helpful. You can take the beers for there or to go. The seating is mostly outside, but is very nice with a lot of plants everywhere. The pizza place (Pizzas Nosferatu) is very good by any standards. We only are a small pie but this place could be a sit down restaurant in Brooklyn and succeed. Prices for beer, I am guessing, are a bit high, but they are still pretty well priced for US/European standards, especially for in-bar drinking. There are price breaks for getting multiple bottles. I highly recommend this place (I will end up having about 20 rates from here).“

“Very small cozy, oldschool beer place. All the beers are in bottles and you kind of have to get behind the bar to see what they got, as there are no menus. The staff are friendly (and some speak English), and/but their general approach is to ask people what they like and bring a corresponding beer. This is not a viable option for someone on this site, of course. The selection is pretty big, but some of the beers are pretty old (we definitely had some old IPA here). They also have their house beers brewed by Dos Polomas, which are interesting. A big plus here was that they were playing pretty dope music (video sets of interesting DJs and a Chilean afrobeat group) for the whole night. We didn't have the food, but everyone else did. Jamin serrano on the scene. I was in Mexico, so I did not look at the prices... cheap by Western standards.“

Beer Bros (Bar)
LUZ SAVIÑON, ESQ. JUAN SANCHEZ AZCONA
“Small place in a quiet street. We were there quiet early and the bar opened 45 minutes after the opening hour according to google - quiet annoying. Then the staff cleaned the bar and it smelled of chlorine although we were seated outside. 9 taps (8 Mexican, 1 US) and approximately 50 bottles, which are stored cool. The prices were slightly above average for Mexican standards. We felt quiet unwelcome and the staff mostly ignored us. Would not come again.“

“Modern style bar with 12 taps and about 50 bottles which are stored cooled. Albeit they offer only 12 beers from tap the selection is really diverse - 5 of their own beers, 2 Mexican guest breweries and 5 US imports. Flights are available for slightly below average Mexican prices and all beers were in good shape. The inside of the bar is a little dark but we were seated on a nice terrace. The waiter was extremely attentive and the food we had (guacamole and salads) were pretty good. Although the bar is located a little outside the center it can be reached easily by metrobus. I can really recommend going there!“

“Bottle shop/bar south of the center of Mexico DF. In the middle of the bar there is a shelf with about 100 bottles - some Mexican beers, some rather boring European imports and more interesting US beers. However, the temperature was probably well above 30 °C and the beers were not stored cooled. 5 taps with interesting imports. We had some snacks there which were mediocre. Overall I did not enjoy the atmosphere which has a patchwork feel to it and it was way too hot.“

“Very small place in the south of Mexico DF. 6 beers from tap (3 Mexican and 3 imports) and about 100 bottle (mostly rather standard international beers), which can also be bought for take away. Beers from tap were rather cheap. The staff was friendly and they offer some snacks. Nice small place worth going if you are close by.“

“Modern bar in Roma with about 20 taps - mostly Mexican breweries. Flights are available. Really attentive staff, who explained every single beer we ordered and gave us some background information. I really enjoyed these short intros. Maybe a little geeky but not too much. Beers were in good shape and prices were slightly above average for Mexican standards. Food is available but we did not eat there. Overall I really enjoyed our stay and I can fully recommend visiting the Tasting Room.“

“Beer bar with about 20 taps of Mexican and European beers but without anything particularly interesting. They offer typical food you find in such Mexican bars but we did not eat there. Loud, club-like music. Prices were relatively expensive for Mexico. Not a place I would recommend to seek out if you are not close by.“

“Bar with a huge selection (52 taps) of mostly Mexican beers along with some US imports and some Belgian breweries but the rotation is not the fastest. Good selection regarding styles. Cheap flights are available and they serve food and snacks. The bar is located in an hall which looks like a large old garage and the setting is a mixture of industrial/modern style and traditional beer bar with large beer benches. Huge screens on the walls showed sport events. Noteworthy is for sure the staff. Everybody was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Overall a great beer place and a must go if you are in Mexico DF and serious about beer.“

“I love this place, the fact that it is near Graciela and La Nacional but with extremely delicious Oaxaca style food makes it win. The home beers are good, I used to love the stout but they stopped doing it with the same gusy so now I love the Double Ipa, very creamy and nice taste. The food is AWESOME! Not very crouded (thats what I love about it), huge selection of mezcal.“

La Belga (Beer Store)
QUERETARO 95, CONDESA
“Es la tienda que me queda más cerca de todo y generalmente encuentro lo que busco PERO el servicio es no muy bueno, no sé si es porque soy mujer y el chico que atiende es misógino o qué pero varias veces he llegado preguntando por sugerencias y te atiende de mala gana. Por ese simple hecho ya no me gusta ir. ////// Used to buy there a lot cause it was close the places I visit (like Escollo<<<<<<VERY RECOMMENDED) but I dont go anymore cause every time I asked for suggestions the guy would not have a very friendly treat (trying to assume it isnt because Im a girl) but he was always very hostile to me which didnt happen to any of my male friends or foreign people. SO NO, NOT BUYING THERE ANYMORE. “

“Decent selection from some of the better brewers in the city as well as some interesting experimental crafts brewed in-house. Prices are OK for beer but don’t order food as the portions are offensively small.“

“Beer selection is limited to a dozen Primus/Minerva, Baja Brew, Cucapá etc. Has been around for a while and used to be one of the only options, but is pretty much irrelevant these days. No reason to go with other options at walking distance.“
