74 /100 Holy Fridge Odense (Beer Store) VESTERBRO 3, ST. Situated almost next door to HJ Hansen which is another store for craft in the city. In Holy Fridge you go to seek out the latest hop bombs. Expect similar stuff as you Will find in the Best web shops in the country. Rotating selection with news added Weekly. Stored cold. Prices are slightly higher than in Dinøl and in the webshops. Beers from Deya, Cloudwater, Northern Monk, To Øl, Åben, Dry and Bitter, alesmith, Omnipollo, Ewil Twin and such are often featured. If you go beer shopping in Odense (2022) this is one of the spots. |
20 /100 Storms Pakhus (Bar) LERCHESGADE 4 A place where you can drink beers from Albani like all other bars in Odense. No craft beer at all. Food could be good. But there is no beer selection here. |
66 /100 Cafe Biografen (Bar) BRANDTS PASSAGE 39 Large café with bar without bar stools. Beers on tap and bottles not impressive, neither with regard to number or quality. Ate and open sandwich. Nice. Service friendly and quick. Prices OK. The other guests seemed open minded, so the ambience was pleasant. |
70 /100 Storms Pakhus (Bar) LERCHESGADE 4 Odense street food. Bars and food stalls. Visited Vakse Viggo. Beers from Albani both on tap and bottled beers, sorry I did not count. Small round tables, had earlie been used for cables, benches - quite low - cosy little place. Did not find any beers I had not tasted before but liked the place. Can see there is at least one more bar at the place so I will definately come back later again. At Vakse Viggo you were allowed to sit down and eat food bought at the food stalls. Only saw pizzas. They looked appetizing. Did not eat anything myself. The girl behind the bar looked bored but served quickly. Prices fair. |
70 /100 FLAKHAVEN 2 Visited August 2020. We had our dogs with us, so it was outside serving. Observant staff, very friendly, so we got our beverages quickly. Nice outside seating on a square, centrally located. Good beer card.
Have to visit it another time, as we did not get inside.
|
80 /100 Christian Firtal (Bar) VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 31 Visited August 2020. Located central in the town on the pedestrian streets. Nice old fashioned pub inside with a nice tap selection and a fridge with remarkable beers and ciders. Has some outside seatings. Friendly staff and visitors, who gave water to our dogs. |
78 /100 Carlsens Kvarter (Bar) HUNDERUPVEJ 19 One of the 2 to visit if in Odense. Great map of Belgian classics served in the proper authentic slash correct glassware. 4,5 taps with up to date quality Danish micros. Ebeltoft, Flying Couch, etc. Its a cozy and warm place full of heart and atmosphere. |
74 /100 Carlsens Kvarter (Bar) HUNDERUPVEJ 19 Old-school and cozy bar. Has a decent amount of taps and a lot of bottles/cans. Service was good and knowledgable. Certainly a good place to visit if you're in town. |
80 /100 Christian Firtal (Bar) VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 31 Visited August 2019 – Great location in the centre of town, has some outside seating and inside you will find a nice old fashioned traditional looking pub. We visited on a weekday afternoon so nice and quiet but can imagine it would get really busy at peak times due to location (and being a great place) Solid selection and mix of beer on tap and took advantage of the offered flights. Nice atmosphere and friendly attentatvie staff, really good selection, also noticed they have a good selection of Whisky flights as well. This place has a nice “feel” to it and with the beers on over is overall my favourite beer place in Odense. |
72 /100 Carlsens Kvarter (Bar) HUNDERUPVEJ 19 Visited August 2019 – in the southern part of Odense its worth popping down here to see this place. Nice period building on a junction, with a small set of stairs leading upto a nice old cosy traditional bar. Period furniture with plenty of seating/tables, dark look and beamed roofs, kind of English looking in some ways. The bar as you walk in had a good range of taps, and some beer menu binders showing what was available bottled/canned with a good cross section of new craft and old school classics. Barman was friendly and knew his stuff, prices decent and even though most the beers we had already ticked we managed to bag a couple of scoops from Bad Seed and Åben respectively. Overall I can imagine this being a nice local to have and is well worth popping by when in town. |
58 /100 VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 57 Visited August 2019 – will find this place just up the same street as Christian Firtal so makes sense to combine both the places. Nice looking building from the outside, and the steps take you up to an English themed pub (and English barman on our visit) with lots of British paraphernalia everywhere, flags/beer mats across the walls, dart board etc - abit overkill for a Brit like myself but maybe appeals to the local/foreign visitor. Beer selection was just “ok to basic” with some taps of Danish pils taps, Irish stouts, Brewdog punk ipa and some UK macro cider. They did though have some interesting cans from the likes of Tiny Rebel, Vibrant Forest from the UK. Staff friendly enough, prices ok – stayed for a beer and then moved on, not a ticker destination by any means, but you might as well pop your head in anyway being so close to the great Christian Firtal. |
66 /100 FLAKHAVEN 2 Visited August 2019. Good location on the corner of the square close to the cathedral, and visited in the early afternoon meant it was just some late lunchers there, but due to location sure it would get really packed at peak. Lots of seating/tables both outside on the square and across the floors inside. Very smart looking place and very much a “gastro” place to serve food alongside their own beers. Food looked good but was still fine to drink only and staff were friendly and engaged and happy to explain the beers on offer. Was quite a few beers to try across their 20+taps. Their own beers were “ok” nothing outstanding kind of 3.0-3.3 territory, but they come in flights so this is a good place to pop by to tick off this place and beers on offer. |
74 /100 Carlsens Kvarter (Bar) HUNDERUPVEJ 19 Nice atmosphere with an old school bodega style interior and lighting. Great selection especially when it comes to belgian beers. However the prices are a bit to steep. |
70 /100 Sir Club (Bar) NØRREGADE 49 Visited on Saturday 6th April 2019. Easy to reach from the railway station. Relatively large place divided in sections. One of the sections had two large billard tables. Another one wAas where a long bar and bar stools were situated. Small dark wooden tables and chairs also available there. As far as I remember there were two more rooms with pale wooden furniture. Did not count the taps and did not look for bottles. Did not find any beers I had not tasted before. A nice mixture of Danish and international micros and macros though. Sensible albeit not cheep beers. Efficient and friendly service. Other guests also friendly. Did not eat, free snacks served. |
46 /100 Kick Off Sportspub (Bar) OVERGADE 45-47 Not a place you seek out for beer. Very friendly with lots of sports on big screens. Big commercial brands with dusty old lagers on tap. |
48 /100 Kick Off Sportspub (Bar) OVERGADE 45-47 Taps:7+3 Odense, Thor, Kissmeyer, Murphy & Newcastle.
Bottles:40+, you may find specialties, such as Schiötz Nordic Triple Porter.
Seasonals: Xmas, easter&summer beers.
Exterior green n red, three vaults.
Interior football pub.
Worth a 20-30 minutes visit for a ratebeerian. |
20 /100 Super Brugsen (Grocery Store) VESTERGADE 76 Please stop adding these places man. There are more than a thousand of these.. Horrible selection and not a place you should seek out. |
82 /100 Christian Firtal (Bar) VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 31 Cozy little bare in the center of the city. 18 taps of both domestic and foreign beers of great quality. Friendly and knowledgable service. Fair prices |
58 /100 FLAKHAVEN 2 Service outside, inside at 1st floor and in the cellar. Outs8de beer and food. 1st floor beer and food, cellar beer. The waiter jumped to me. Obvisously he had not much to do. Would have liked to see the restaurant at the 1st floor a bit closer as the cooks were preparing food in an open kitchen. Should only drink beer, so I was drawn to the cellar. 27 taps with more or less interesting beers. Just a few of them brewed at the premises. You could see the kettles, the storage tanks and the taps. Outside nice, few people, restaurant no people, cellar 2 people drinking wine + me. Cellar looked more like a cocktail bar because of the pink light. |
72 /100 Carlsens Kvarter (Bar) HUNDERUPVEJ 19 Enjoyable bar in old pharmacy building, app 12-15 taps (lots of local stuff) and some > 100 bottles. Friendly and efficient staff and quite standard prices. |
62 /100 FLAKHAVEN 2 27 taps (25 were on), 7 of which were their own brews. Coisbo also well representated. Service was rather slow even though there were onlty one other party. The food was to the expensive side and not very good. Luckily there are way better palces in Odense, so only go here for the ticks of their own beers |
74 /100 Carlsens Kvarter (Bar) HUNDERUPVEJ 19 Cozy old bar with 15 taps of which 12 are micros. Focus is on Belgians and local brews from Fyn. That is also true for the couple of hundred bottles. They don't seem to be first movers on the beer front. A very traditional line-up. A lot of older locals come in a get their usual stuff, so I guess that's why they are a bit conservative in their selection of beers. Service is friendly and attentive, prices are decent |
50 /100 Sir Club (Bar) NØRREGADE 49 Large noisy place with two pool tables. Mixed crowd. 20 taps, mostly (semi-) macros but also contributions from Kissmeyer, Lagunitas and Ugly Duck. The local brewery Ølgaard (which generally makes substandard beers) is also represented. At my visit friday night the people behind the bar were young girls with very little beer knowledge. I got a Kissmeyer beer that were clearly off, but they purely denied that something was wrong. "It is a IPA, you know". (Yeah, sweetie, I've had hundreds and hundreds of IPA's and none of them tasted like my boxer shorts smells after running 10 miles). On the positive side, they did offer me a new beer "...if you don't like that one". I'm not to be patronized, so I left the place 10 minutes after and will probably never come back. I'm puzzled that Anders Kissmeyer wants to have his normally greats products sold by people that has absolutely no clue how it's supposed to taste |
66 /100 VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 57 Really cozy place although the furniture is really old and worn out. The acoustics is unfortunately really bad, so when there's two middle aged women a couple of tables away, you're not able to hear what your friends are saying. 12 taps but only four of them are interesting. They rotate a lot and at my visit three of them were great brews from Tiny Rebel in really good condition. Some bottles as well but I don't think there was anything exiting among them. The guy behind the bar is really nice and friendly and he knows about beers. Prices are decent |
64 /100 VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 57 Lovely place to hang out and have a good time with some good beers. Not a Ratebeer focused place though |
50 /100 VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 57 British pub next door to C4tal. Tiny rebel, fullers and Brewdog. Atmosphere is cool. Not a place to seek out unless you need a place rating. |
68 /100 VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 57 Cozy! Small selection with a very clear focus on British beer. Friendly, British neighbourhood pub. |
78 /100 Carlsens Kvarter (Bar) HUNDERUPVEJ 19 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for Android |
78 /100 H.J. Hansen (Beer Store) VESTERGADE 97-101 The store is located at the end of a pedestrian street. Parking can be a bit tricky. The store offers wine, liqour, thea, chocolate and similar stuff so expext to pay a little more than usual for stuff. The beer selection was small but solid. Found a lot of imperial stouts, belgian sours and a good selection of smaller danish breweries. |
72 /100 Vinens Verden (Beer Store) SLOTSGADE 21 C-D The beer is places at the far end of a wine shop that is located in a pedestrian street so parking can be tricky. Large selection of danish brews mainly from Amager, Mikkeller and his friends. There is also a few options from Sweden and the UK and there is a good selection of sours from Belgium. The store is mainly a wine store, but offer beers that are very common but also very good craft beers in Denmark. Prices was a bit higher than other places I’ve been. |
86 /100 Christian Firtal (Bar) VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 31 Visited in April. Great little place. Really nailed the middle ground between good solid selection of beers, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a vibrant pub atmosphere. |
46 /100 Carlsens Kvarter (Bar) HUNDERUPVEJ 19 Visit end of march/early April. Seem very behind the times on the beer front. They seem to prioritise sweet and strong, especially Belgian which is ok I guess, but it’s a little 1995 . Chatted to a few locals, one of whom informed me of the bar’s policy re staff. Was absolutely stunned to hear they refuse to employ women. Wtf? First and only visit. The overall rating reflects the absurdity of their misogynistic policies regarding women. |
54 /100 FLAKHAVEN 2 Visited around end of march, visiting boyfriends family. I just didn’t get this place. Beers tasted were stale. Why have 27 taps when you barely have 27 customers? |
60 /100 FLAKHAVEN 2 HAd a beer outside on the terasse, so did not spot the new bar Camons mentions, too bad. Only 3 of their beers on tap. Friendly service, not too busy this time of week/day. |
94 /100 VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 57 Only ever been on afternoons - but it’s a great bar.
Seems to be aimed at a younger weekend clientele but don’t let that fool you. Friendly proprietor and very English atmosphere. Only thing it’s missing is afternoon sunshine on the outdoor benches. But there’s always space to sit. I’m 48 and I go there with my 18 and 19 year old sons... Recommend. |
72 /100 Christian Firtal (Bar) VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 31 For the simple reason that this bar has the best selection of unusual beers in a mainstream location in Odense. Reservations are 1) It’s hard to get a place to sit outside at peak times 2) Prices 3) It’s in a bit of an overly touristy part of town so you don’t get the sense of it having regulars as such.
Usually combine a visit here with a visit to the next pub up the street, the Tipsy Toad, which is fairly quiet in the daytime but has some great draft beers.
|
78 /100 Christian Firtal (Bar) VINTAPPERSTRÆDE 31 Nice place with a good selection of beers on tap. The beers are offen the safe choice, lots og belgian beer, IPA's and a variety of stouts. Cozy place with a good atmosphere, but the prices have gone up/the went form 50 cl glasse to 40 cl glasse, wich is a big drawback. |
46 /100 Meny (Odense NV, Rugårdsvej) (Grocery Store) RUGAARDSVEJ 211 Supermarket. Standard DK Supermarket selection with some locals troen in. Normal prices. Might be worth stopping by for the local ticks. |
44 /100 Løvbjerg Odense (Beer Store) TARUP CENTRET, RUGVANG 36-38 Supermarked, rather crowded and messy at our visit. Selection is standard supermarket stuff +a good number of locals added. Normal prices. |
54 /100 Meny (Odense) (Grocery Store) MÅGEBAKKEN 4 Supermarked with quite a lot of local beers added to the standard setup- Midtfyen, Coisbo, Ugly Duck, Stevnsbogaard etc. Some foreign beers aswell. Prices on par with other supermarkets. Worth a stop if in the area |
78 /100 Vinens Verden (Beer Store) SLOTSGADE 21 C-D Big wine shop with a good selection of beers in the back. Loads of locals, from Fynen and rest of Denmark, Mikkeller, Amager, Hornbeer etc. international beers aswell, US, UK, belgians etc including some nice lambics. Good and helpfull service with a good knowledge of the beers they sell. Fine prices. For me this had a slightly better selection than H.J. Hansen. Both worth a visit tho. |
76 /100 H.J. Hansen (Beer Store) VESTERGADE 97-101 Nice old school winestore with a good beer selection aswell. Load of locals, fynen and rest of Denmark, good international selection aswell. Good service with a fine knowledge of the beers here. Prices are rather high. Nice selection of wine, spirit, chocolate etc too. |
56 /100 Skjold Burne Hjallesevej (Beer Store) HJALLESEVEJ 6 Small winestore a bit out of the city center, but not to far from Carlsens Kvarter. Small selection of beers, mostly locals, Munkebo, Coisbo, Midtfyn etc, a few italian and german too. Good prices. The limited selection isnt worth going out of your way from, but have a look if in the area. |
42 /100 Ryan’s of Odense (Bar) FISKETORVET 12 Irish pub in center of town, selection is macroes, a huge sign outside advertising for Heineken. No ticks or good beers. |
