72 /100 DLOUHÁ 21, PRAHA 1 - STARÉ MĚSTO Had some 20-30 minutes to waste in the touristy purgatory that is Staré Město, and decided to forego the oasis of bliss that is the Hostomice place, but to explore around Dlouhá, see if Beer Story is active or not (not) and so on, even stepping on the dreaded Staromák for the first time since 2017 while pondering if I should waste money at Caffrey's for a quick expensive tourist trap place tick. Decided not to and went back, noticing that, whoa, there was a new PBM right in front of me - again in Dlouhá but at a different location, boasting 24 taps or something like that. Eh, why not. Wandered in for a cheeky beer. Ah yeah... PBM with their almost-never-changing list of largely mediocre to okay beer with few exceptions. Thankfully, Rychtář Rataj was a tick so I got it... for something like 42 for 0.33l, not terrible for SM standards I guess. The aroma was a bit tart, but the taste was fine (a decent beer really), unsure if the pipes are that well cleaned, but I could be wrong. Okay service. Medium to big place in browns - that used to be daNico wine restaurant, Fish & Chips and Long Street Food - now with a less food-driven tenant that might stick longer. The entry room with a big communal table and some niches around was semi-full, unsure about the back, not a terrible ambiance. Dunno. Okay place overall, better than most in the closest area, if you're around and have ticks to find, there, why not. |
62 /100 Lokál - Hamburk (Restaurant) SOKOLOVSKÁ 55, PRAHA 8 - KARLÍN Lokál is a pretty classic chain - a bit on the "been in one, been in them all", but the generally good but not too expensive food + tank PU + their version of dark Kozel concept is highly popular for a reason I guess. Been past this one tens of times, as it's just by Dva Kohouti, but never went in till now. Packed, really packed, how weird to see that in Covid times... 45 for mlíko (had to get one for Trolleo's and Anna Bog's sake) of 2 day old tank PU.... which turned out not to be in the best of shapes. Weird. Also, the waitress didn't even try to return the 5kč, which is a meh, but they were busy and efficient otherwise. Dunno, I may return for food one of these days and get the full experience, but just for beer, it was a bit of a disappointment. |
82 /100 Americanbeer.eu - Store (Beer Store) VELETRŽNÍ 42, PRAHA 7 - HOLEŠOVICE One of the newer additions to Prague's Letná beer place cluster is this, the physical store of the Czech American beer importer, really an exciting place to have around / visit - as they get Tree House and Trillium frequently for example, fairly fresh too technically. A sizeable place, but without many places to sit at at first glance. Wonder what it's like with less strict rules, but hm, it didn't seem like a place one sticks around at first experience. The young lady behind the counter knows her stuff and was quick to point out they got a fresh shipment of aforementioned hype breweries, so I got a 1 month old Julius, hah. Some 7-8 fridges filled with a huge variety of American beer, mostly in cans. 1 tap too, but didn't partake. There's some macro stuff, I guess with expats requesting it, but it's a wild assortment really, breweries that don't even have that big of a name. Fairly sure I could get a few state ticks (like Rhode Island, though I wasn't paying 310kč for a can of a kettle sour...). Prices are... hm. It definitely depends on whom they get stuff from - but, say, hype brewery haze that is Julius was cheaper than random brewery pale ales and kettle sours. Nearly everything is expensive as expected, though some stuff seems okay for the price, some is just weird. But hey, still better than American prices in Scandinavia I guess? For a rabid ticker, especially since they get one-offs and specials as well it's so damn easy to overspend - it's an expensive commodity to begin with. I doubt I'll be hitting this that often unless I get 3 more people for a tasting group and to split the costs. Anywho, an excellent store. The only qualm is that the 1mo Julius was in a slightly worse shape than expected for 1mo - like the shipping wasn't ideal perhaps, dunno. I'll probably concentrate on the less hop-driven stuff I guess.
How to get here:1, 8, 12, 25, 26 to Letenské náměstí or Kamenická depending on where you're coming from. In the latter case take the eponymous street right to Veletržní, cross the street, and it'll be a bit to the left. From Letenské náměstí, be sure you cross Veletržní immediately to the north side (and follow it "right"/east) - if you don't, you'll have to either jaywalk (heh) or circle around, no crossings until after it. |
68 /100 U Vodoucha (Restaurant) JAGELLONSKÁ 2426/21, PRAHA 3 - ŽIŽKOV Sympatyczna i niezbyt tania restauracja. Kilka piw do wyboru, jedzenie czeskie. Obsługa w porządku. |
62 /100 BeerGeek Bar (Bar) VINOHRADSKÁ 988/62, PRAHA 3 - ŽIŽKOV Niewątpliwie wybór piw robi wrażenie, ceny niektórych też. To jeden z droższych lokali w którym byłem i chyba najdroższy "mój" w Czechach. Większość klienteli to cudzoziemcy, więc obsługa mówi do każdego po angielsku, nawet jeśli on sam używa czeskiego. Mnie się średnio podobało. |
64 /100 KORUNNÍ 2506/106, PRAHA 10 - VINOHRADY Kilka piw na barze, ceny średnio-wysokie. Tłumnie i młodzieżowo. |
70 /100 PŘEMYSLOVSKÁ 1660/35, PRAHA 3 - ŽIŽKOV How to get here: Take the 11 or 13 tram to Radhošťská, turn left/north into Baranova, it'll be there in front of you at the next intersection. Or take the metro to Flora, exit through the shopping mall to the left and take the Přemyslovská street for 2 blocks.
A part of the same Černokostelecký pivovar-related chain as cult places like U Slovanské lípy, U Šumavy and U Vodoucha (all of which are a fair bit less impressive now than they used to be beer selection-wise), it's a slightly more modern twist on their concept - more modern food I guess, more modern decorations. 8 active taps - 3 of their own, the 10° was quite good and a tick (the 12° I liked slightly less). Sadly, they ran out of Zvíkov's Best Bitter. They had stuff like a Sibeeria special (Hazy Drill), I think Bacchus Framboise and some more other non-ticks for me. Okay enough. No issues with service, friendly enough, but I did speak Czech. The food is modern as I've said, okay prices, but nothing enticed me to order it - but I did plan to eat at Beergeek later. All in all, not a bad spot, worth a visit if you're in the area, you might get some ticks, just not a top-tier place for the town. |
64 /100 Ferdinanda Praha - Nové Město (Restaurant) OPLETALOVA 1597/24, PRAHA 1 - NOVÉ MěSTO The closest RB place to the main train station... which is the reason why I ended up visiting it having 1:30h to waste. Walking up to it, I was actually shocked that it's no longer a Ferdinand place - a Lobkowicz sign is by the door now. And indeed, as I walked down in the fairly modern basement-and-first floor place, the 5 taps were indeed largely taken by Pivovary Lobkowicz beers - 2x Lobkowicz I think (the Premium Lager and something), Klášter 11° and some Černá Hora I think. The only remnant of Ferdinand is the classic Sedm Kulí. Being tired and hungover my Czech died for enough of a second for the bartender to readily switch to good English and start pouring me the Premium Lager. Kay-o, haven't had it in a long while, and since no beer there's a tick... Proved to be quite drinkable, if vaguely flawed - as expected. The place's basement was full, mostly locals, and I'd guess the food is likely good, but I had no time nor will to go for something. The price for the beer was okay I think, something like 42 for 0.5l, not great for Lobkowicz, not the worst, especially for this part of town. I guess the beers will be in better shape than when you find them for cheap in supermarkets. And Sedm Kulí is a very decent choice anyway.
Dunno, probably better if you go to eat, unless you're new to CZ you might not find any ticks - but if you are, and/or are based nearby and/or have time to waste with the other better places around being closed, maybe go for it, dunno. It's far from a bad place. |
66 /100 Diego pivní bar (Bar) SOKOLOVSKÁ 467/114, PRAHA 8 - KARLÍN Fun place with fantastic ambiance and service, but the selection was rather average to be honest. Still, definitely worth a visit. |
76 /100 BEERTIME.pub (Bar) NÁDRAŽNÍ 116/61, PRAHA 5 - SMÍCHOV Great place with a great selection and very good service. A must visit. |
54 /100 BULOVKA 17, PRAHA 8 - LIBEŇ An old school Czech pub that offers average beers at best. Wasn't worth the trip from the center of the city. |
66 /100 Sladovna Praha (Restaurant) VODIČKOVÁ 12/5, PRAHA 2 - NOVÉ MĚSTO Good beers, and good service, but I would say to come just for the beer as the food was rather awful. |
66 /100 Bad Flash Bar Krymská (Bar) KRYMSKÁ 126/2, PRAHA 10 - VRŠOVICE Rather overpriced for Czech standards, but still a very cool spot to visit. |
60 /100 Lya Beer Café (Bar) KRYMSKÁ 39, PRAHA 10 - VRŠOVICE Nothing special to be honest. Just a small bar with a handful of boring local craft beers. |
66 /100 PŘEMYSLOVSKÁ 1660/35, PRAHA 3 - ŽIŽKOV Lovely place, decent beers on tap and fast service. |
70 /100 KORUNNÍ 2506/106, PRAHA 10 - VINOHRADY Really nice Brewpub with good service and an interesting selection. Well worth a visit. |
58 /100 Vinohradský Burger Bar (Bar) VINOHRADSKÁ 1241/67, PRAHA 2 - VINOHRADY Poor service and rather pricey. You can definitely skip this place and not feel like you missed anything worthwhile. |
76 /100 Dno Pytle (Bar) VINOHRADSKÁ 1485/63, PRAHA 2 - VINOHRADY Lovely place, good selection and great service. A must visit for sure. |
68 /100 NAVRÁTILOVA 1421/11, PRAHA 1 - NOVÉ MĚSTO Not a bad spot, a bit pricey but great selection. |
84 /100 DO KLUKOVIC 305, PRAHA 5 - HLUBOČEPY A lovely brewpub in a pretty setting. Seems like you are further away from the city than you actually are such is the relative tranquility in the area. The pub is traditionally furnished yet modern and clean. The brewery is visible through a window in the brewpub. Great beers, really fresh and the staff seem friendly. The food was good and everything was good value. A top place. |
66 /100 BUREŠOVA 1661/2, PRAHA 8 - KOBYLISY Decent beers, average food and a very slow service. |
80 /100 U Vysmáté Tchýně (Beer Store) FRANCOUZSKÁ 55, PRAHA 10 - VINOHRADY Easy to find along street Francouzská 55. Interesting bottle range, so I found one for later enjoyment. |
76 /100 Beer & Beer Pivotéka (Bar) VE SMEČKÁCH 590/16, PRAHA 1 - NOVÉ MĚSTO Beer bar on Ve Smečkach, some steps to west from Vaclavske Namesti. Evening open from 17. Nice n cool small place with young guests. A handfull of pipes and a craft bottle collection.
Visited this address four years ago, then it was Illegal Beer Pivoteka. |
72 /100 Beer Point Prague (Bar) MEZIBRANSKA 19, PRAHA 1 - NOVÉ MĚSTO About at the south end of Vaclavske Namesti. Special system: one buys a beer-card for 300czk, and if you don't use the whole amount on burger and beers, you get in return what's left on the card. 1 dl costs 13-20czk or up, depending on type of beer. Big pad on each draught, with picture of the bottled version. That means you can do your own mini beer festival if you want. Interesting place. |
70 /100 Restaurace Kulový Blesk (Ječná) (Restaurant) MELOUNOVÁ 5, PRAHA 2 - NOVÉ MĚSTO New location is also in a busy street, Jecna. Small room(s), vintage fly marketish furniture. Beer range is more on micro breweries now. Many bottles, cans and a dozen taps. So, for a ratebeerian, sure a place to find something new. I had a Stěhovák 12°, because kraska blondynka had it on her black t-shirt.
Opening hours are mon-fri 15-24.

Modern interior, different materials and colours. Wooden furniture is tan brown, gives the restaurant a light athmosphere. Good kitchen. If you're nearby and hungry, it's worth visiting. Budvar beers of course, it is Budvarka. |

80 /100 SOKOLOVSKÁ 81/55, PRAHA 8 - KARLÍN I entered.... a brewery! Six long beer tanks, plus boilers and all. Women also brew here. Minimalistic factory like interior, benches n tables. Nice scents of mash&wort (representing top score in ambience) in the entire room. 74czk for a mug desitka, which was in good shape, and in the classic way. |
74 /100 Vrátnice Craft Beers (Bar) THÁMOVA 7, PRAHA 8 - KARLÍN I came simultaneously as the beerbarman himself, who opened up. Small place, but stairs up to an extra room. Seven taps plus three extra. Vratnice, Albrecht, Beran, Havran, Trautenberk, Murderwurk, Barney, Valhalla, Raven, and more. My jedenactka could've been colder. It's a beer spot for sure. Vitejte! |
68 /100 Přístav 18600 (Bar) ZA KARLÍNSKÝM PŘÍSTAVEM, PRAHA 8 - KARLÍN May be a too chilled experience in november, but the Pazdrát 11° was worth it. |

74 /100 Myslíš? (Bar) SKOŘEPKA 3, PRAHA 1 - STARÉ MĚSTO Craft beers from small breweries dominate the menu here. Rusty walls, vintage wooden tables, cafeish fly market style. I think most ratebeerians will find a new beer here. |
66 /100 Joystick Bar (Bar) JINDŘIŠSKÁ 5, PRAHA 1 - NOVÉ MĚSTO Situated inside of Jindřišská 5, east side of Vaclavske boulevard, and downstairs in a kind of passage, not easy to find. Flippers and arcade games in big numbers. Uneticke on tap. Fascinating that young people are attracted by these old fashion game machines, thought many of them with new colourful designs and techniques. Some tables, for those who just come along with gamers and is not gamers themselves. |
30 /100 KRAKOVSKÁ 1, PRAHA 2 - NOVÉ MĚSTO The circular "BlahBlah"-sign is taken down, and stands inside the beer bar, on the desk. Ladders on the floor. The place has potenriak. Something is slowly going on, but now in 2021 it is temporarily closed. |

Chicken in paprika w dumplings. |
