“Nice brewery in downtown Redding. $3/taster is typical to cheap in Silicon Valley, but a little pricey here. Food is pricey too. Good beer selection: 24 beers on tap, including a wonderful BA imperial porter. Great place to visit overall.“

“Nice brewery in Redding. About 16 beers on taps. Good mix of hazies, IPAs, porters, etc. No BA beers, and I didn’t see any cans for sale. Service was slow. Food is hit or miss. 6 tasters for $12: enough said.“

Trader Joe’s - Redding (Grocery Store)

“Typical Trader Joe’s, but beer selection is half of other stores: about 1/2 of one side of an aisle. Large craft breweries. No local breweries. Not worth visiting for beer, but of course awesome food selection.“

“Very new. They managed to make it look like something attached to a brewing venue. Wood, steel, concrete. A dozen taps or so. Beer for sale in cans, bottles, growlers. And the bombers are fetched from the cold box! Many others just stick them out on shelves. I got a fair amount of advice on the beers available. They use Square for payment. I dashed in, got some beer to go and dashed out. Very slick. It is a bit hard to find using GPS. It's in a huge shopping mall/strip. GPS dropped us beyond the physical location. Had to turn around, enter the mall and drive the large area to find it.“

“A nice space, tucked in next to the VFW. A varied and large selection of beers. I did the six tasters. All were really enjoyable, and I thought the porter and brown ale stood out. I didn't have any food, but it looked good. Great service at the bar. Highly recommend.“

“An unbelievable amount of good beer on tap and in bottles. Kind of a dive bar atmosphere but don’t let that get in the way of having a “unicorn” beer. This place is simply amazing and you should pay it a visit. "No crap on tap!"“

“A great place to go for craft and import beers as they had coolers of beer from the front of the store to the back and a long shelf of imports and bombers. Lots of local beers can be found here as well as specialty beers. I do have to admit though that the store is kinda hidden and not seen from the road. Went in there on a Saturday night and the place was without customers. Still, they had what I wanted.“

“Located in a strip mall which is the weirdest part of the visit. Once you get past that there are some good beers to be had here. The Widowmaker Double IPA was pretty good as was the Colossus Imperial Stout.“

“Strip mall location was weird, but nice inside. A selection of 11 beers on an incredibly well priced flight. Good quality across the board, though the DIPAs were too malty fo my taste (the regular IPAs were great). Nice mix of styles and friendly service. Easily my favorite beer experience in Redding.“

“Final stop in redding. Less than a ten minute walk from either the new Wildcard or Final Draft. Atmosphere between the two; busy but not packed. This place is more food oriented and features a bar+ menu with some interesting options including a vodka shrimp pasta. At this point of the evening I was just down for some buffalo wings which were decent. Bar service was great, the guy was helpful and talkative. A bit amused that I walked in with a four pack of Final Draft beer in my hand, but they were totally cool about it, and in fact some of them hang out there when not working. He even offered to store them in the fridge for me. Flights available, which I partook in. Damned if I can remember what I thought of them; I will need to find my paper ratings and update this review. Other than that uncertainty, this is a fun place with a good vibe and great service. Recommended.“

“This place was not at all what I expected for a recently opened brewery. Serious money behind this endeavor. Large new space, open warehouse style. Large bar in the center, tables around, Stage to your left as you enter. Area with games etc. that kids were welcome in. Huge Jenga in a warehouse must be fun when you are eight (or drunk, which is functionally about the same). Outdoor seating as well was shut down due to weather. Tap list was extensive - Two full monitors full of beers; guessing about 24 in total. There were two-monitor pairs spread about the place so you were never far from the beer list. The place was totally packed on a Saturday night; must have been 150 people inside. Kind of shocking after Wildcard, which is only a 5 minute walk away.

Quite a range of styles; german american, british, belgian all represented at some level. They had a Berliner but no other sours or BA beers on. At least a couple of their entries were bar mixes including a Kolsch beermosa which was just their Kolsch and OJ in what appear to be a 50/50 mix. All beers priced as 4 oz samples, full pours, and growlers. There was also a sign about 16 oz cans to go, which turned out to be that they would fill a can of anything other than nitro pours and bar mixes (and they served both) and seal it up for the pint price. Not super cheap given that the pint price is in-house, but still it is convenient.

I ticked my way through four beers which ranged from good to excellent, and got some cans to go. They had a deal that if you buy three 16 oz cans the fourth is free, which lessened the sticker shock quite a bit. I would say this has a bit of a hipster vibe to it unfortunately, but its will a fun place and they appear to be hitting on all cylinders w.r.t. beer quality.“

“A second location for Wildcard; I think they have been open less than a year, much closer to the center of town and the majority of other breweries worth noting. It is worth noting that Google maps puts this around the corner from its actual entrance - the front door is on Pine Street, not Butte. Quite quiet on a Saturday evening, a handful of locals inside. Super helpful service helped me choose a flight, loaned me a pen, gave me a place to charge my phone. The place itself is decent sized, with a large bar front and center and a number of tables around. A glass door cold room to the left of the bar displays kegs and cans to go. I was very impressed with my first flight of five, so much so that I looped back at the end of the evening to try a second flight; much to my detriment, but so be it. Great addition to this part of Redding. I am really surprised at how busy they weren't given beer quality.“

“Fall River was my first stop in Redding. I was honestly not expecting much; few rates for their beers and its in a mini mall. I was pleasantly surprised. The mall location meant ample parking. Inside it really did feel like a tasting room rather than the chain brewpub I was expecting. A decent sized bar and a few tables. Coolers in back to hold cans; more on that in a bit. They had about 10 beers on tap and did offer flights of five, so I partook. Most of the beers were average at best, but I was fairly impressed with their NE IPA - Lazy Hazy. They had four of their beers in four pack 16 oz cans as well, and when I asked canning dates the guy rattled them off immediately, which was nice. They are still selling a NE APA canned in August :/, but the IPA was just a couple weeks old so I grabbed a four pack to go. Service was solid. I thought this was a perfectly respectable beer stop, and hopefully the NE IPA was not the exception in terms of future beer quality.“

“OK-ish liquor store close to the main mall. Selection was not bad, nothing startling, well organised by style. Service was friendly, not very knowledgeable however. Prices were quite good, better in some cases with a reward card.“

Trader Joe’s - Redding (Grocery Store)
845 BROWNING ST
“I usually like shopping at Trader Joe's because they allow you to make your own six pack. The selection at this particular location however was so poor that I found it impossible to find six beers that I actually wanted to have. Most beers seem to be either own brands or Boatswain beers, which I have found to be pretty poor in the past. For food shopping, the place is OK.“

“I really enjoyed this space. It’s huge but welcoming and very communal. Cornhole and giant Jenga in a large open space with plenty of seating inside and out. The food was pub fare but an excellent rendition. Plenty of their own beers on tap and a couple of guest ciders. Overall however the place was a little expensive, I’m not used to California prices sure but damn.“

“Visited here in early August ’17 while on vacation for dinner. Nice newish looking space located downtown, big bar, plenty of seating, Have about 18 or so of their own on tap, the four half pints we had were solid. Varied menu, seafood, wings, sandwiches etc, I had a black and blue burger it was pretty tasty. Friendly, attentive service, Worth a stop if in town.“

“A little tricky to find as the address number’s circle around the mall and it’s islands. It’s next to the starbucks. so a sterile, small, mall environment, light wood & windows to cheer it up. Around 12 of their brews on tap, and a good selection of fairly priced bottles. Good guys working here. And they make fine beers..“

“This is a big warehouse type building with beers on the right side of the store. They have lots of room here. The selection is good. Better than BevMo. They have plenty of local and international beers present. I found some Feather River stuff and some unique Mount Shasta stuff. They also have Etna. I also managed to find some Batch #1 Ommegeddon! While this is a score for me, it also should serve as a warning that there may also be old beer here. I saw some Sac Brewing Red Horse Ale on the floor, which has been out of business nearly 6 months. Neverthless, the service was good, as I was asked twice by 2 different employees if I needed any help. Likely the best beer place within a 2 hour driving radius.“

“I was surprised by the selection of beer that these guys had...it wasn’t a large selection, but it was a very good selection. There were beers that were unfamiliar to me (unusual for Redding), local favorites, quality imports and they were not limited to a few popular styles. I don’t remember names, but the gal behind the bar was knowledgeable about the beer she was serving. Very relaxed and comfortable little place. Best beer place in town.“

“The Alehouse in Redding, CA is BY FAR the best bar in town to get the widest selection of good microbrews on tap! The owners, Robert & Shelly, go out of their way to listen to what their customers want, and follow through! Check it out! You won’t be sorry!“

Trader Joe’s - Redding (Grocery Store)

“It’s a decent Trader Joe’s store... they carry Chimay, Duvel, Lindeman’s, and other craft beers from the USA, England, and Germany. But most of the beers there are their "house" ales and lagers that are made for them by either Gordon Biersch or Goose Island brewing. The one stand out (besides the aforementioned Belgian ales) is the Vintage ale from Unibroue / Canada.“

“UPDATED COMMENT: Ok it’s been 6 years since I have rated this place- (Today’s date is July 13, 2012) Wow... Blair has certainly kicked it up several notches when it comes to selection. By far the best in Redding, and in the North State! It’s been nearly 2.5 years since I have visited the store... (Bev Mo is not even 1/2 mile away from my home) but the Liquor Barn’s variety and selcetion blows Bev Mo away! It’s a bit more of a drive but the selection of Belgians is very much worth it.“

“Grocery store sized liquor store tucked away in a dark parking lot....little leary entering at night. Decent selection of west coast bombers and fairly common imports. Decenlty priced. Service - the clerks had trouble ringing up the order...it was late after all, dude! And we all know what is the number one crop in this area....Anyway - worth a visit if you need to stock up in Redding.“
