74 /100 322 BELLEVUE AVE Visited July 2017. In a weird mix of industrial/commercial/and outskirts of residential area just a bit off of 101. Plenty of parking and a bit of a warehouse type tasting room. I guess you could say they're kind of going for a barn aesthetic? Luckily they had AC because it was hot. Nice bar with about a dozen beers on draft. I just opted for some small pours of a few things I hadn't had before as I was a bit pressed for time. Their beers are really hit or miss for me. They can make some awesome stuff and some pretty bad stuff, and everything in between. It's worth a stop if you're up this way as it's not too far of a detour from the other places you would want to go (Russian River, Cooperage, etc.). |
52 /100 1305 CLEVELAND AVE Just north of the centre, this is a cute little place that's been around for a while. Taplist is not super intriguing, but they have some oddities on that might be worth trying if you're into them. Flights available, with however many beers you want on them for $2 a piece. I wasn't enthused with any of the beers I tried, but they were mostly competent. Service seemed a tad impatient, but was otherwise OK. Wouldn't especially recommend a visit. |
82 /100 Rincon Valley Tap Room & Bottle Shop (Beer Store) 4927 SONOMA HWY @ MIDDLE RINCON, BEHIND CHEVRON - 4 MILES FROM RUSSIAN RIVER Ten minutes east of downtown. I used them regularly during the Covid-19 lockdown because they have a really easy online ordering system and they'll bring your order to your car for you. Owner is a former Porsche owner, which means extra points for ambiance, and she'll gladly have a safe distance and masked chat with you about her old Porsches. Selection emphasizes CA breweries plus a handful from WA and CO, good prices and regular sales. Haven't been inside because of viral restrictions. Solid place. |
64 /100 Whole Foods Market - Coddingtown (Grocery Store) 390 CODDINGTOWN CENTER Stopped here with heykevin for some breakfast on the way out of twon the morning after RateBeer Best 2017. They have a taproom/bar area as well as the usual selection of beers in coolers that most Whole Foods locations have. The selection is pretty straightforward and does not really hold any surprises for you. You will be able to at least get the local stuff like Russian River and the usual suspects in any Northern California bottle shop. It's fine enough if you happen to already be coming here, but just go to Bottle Barn if you want a big selection. |
88 /100 725 4TH ST Old school - so well run and organized.Busy, but never feels crowded. Tasters, Pints and Merch. |
76 /100 725 4TH ST Was there on the Saturday of the gay parade, so the place was jam packed, difficult even to find a place on the bar. Had the full board tasting which is great value but may be to big to appreciate all the beers. Nice place, glad i came. |
76 /100 3330 INDUSTRIAL DR Small cozy place. Nice bartender and guests. Really nice place recommend it. |
80 /100 Bottle Barn (Beer Store) 3331 INDUSTRIAL DR Really big place with lots of beer and other things. |
74 /100 725 4TH ST Pliny the elder is overrated just like their other beers |
96 /100 725 4TH ST Besøgt marts 17
Super sted med helt speciel stemning
Mens man venter på bord må man nøges med en blind pig ??
Var der på en hverdag hvor der var fyldt
+ 20 tap

78 /100 3350 COFFEY LN, SUITE A i remember for years waiting for the "imminent" opening of the Moonlight taproom, but it did finally happen. Its a pretty large space, a little more complete than in Broken's review, but still has an "under construction" feel to it. All beers individually avaialble as sample pours. Quite busy on a Sunday. I ended up doing a couple of samples and moving on, but it is a great place to catch up on the lager staples that have made Moonlights reputation. |
74 /100 8138, 357 SUTTON PL Old possum is a surprisingly large space given how new it is. Large bar, tables, clean bathrooms. Flights of everything available, which was six beers when i was there. Service was fine, beer quality was OK, although the two lagers were actually pretty terrible. |
74 /100 610 3RD ST walked over here from RR. This is a large space with a balcony, kind of old school, but pretty busy on a saturday night. I did not do the mega-flight, but instead had a simple pils, which was satisfactory. This place would do well in many markets, and apparently does well here, but it seems overshadowed quality wise by the new comers, as well as the iconic Russian River three blocks away. |
80 /100 981 AIRWAY CT As noted by others, a bit industrial, but still fun. I like a douche have waited too long to upload this review, so it will suck. Individual sample pours availabe, kinda expensive tho. Beer quality high |
80 /100 3350 COFFEY LN, SUITE A It finally happened--there's a Moonlight taproom!
Visited with heykevin43 in January 2017. Tiny bar in the entryway for ordering one of your favorite beers and they also have a small merch selection as well. The primary area to hang out in is in the back/brewhouse. A couple small tables and some wobbly wood dividers up (don't put your beer on them). The beers are great, as you would expect. Good prices. Glad to have this place around, finally. Maybe hard to justify such a high score as the place itself isn't the most exciting, but the beers are top notch and it's the best place to get all your Moonlight ticks in. |
100 /100 725 4TH ST One of the top places |
82 /100 725 4TH ST Had the 19 beer tasting flight. Beers were surprisingly mediocre outside of most of the IPAs and the absolutely incredible sours. Pliny got a little lost in amongst the noise, so I somewhat recommend getting that separately, I got a bottle to take away. Pizza was good. Pizza was great. Place felt like a small town brewpub should. Busy and comfortable, very friendly service. Glad we made the effort to get there, but next time I'll just get pints of the good ones. |
84 /100 725 4TH ST Sat outside on Redwoods Half Marathon trip. Decent food. Nice tap list. |
86 /100 725 4TH ST Have been here a couple of times. Tough to get a seat but worth it if you do. Anyone who likes craft beer enough to look up this site knows how coveted Russian River brews are. This is the mothership and is a bucket list item for a beer geek. |
90 /100 725 4TH ST Visited a friday afternoon around 2PM, no line to get in, and was offered a table after 20 minutes or so. Rather big place with a long bar along the left side as you enter, seating in front and to right. I liked the fact that allthough always busy, if was fairly spaced between tables so that it dosnt feelt to crowded.19 beers on tap, a number of bottles. Shared a flight of all tap beers, quality of beers from good to amazing, not surprising. Had a really good pizza and salat for lunch. Loads of staff, all very friendly and service minded. Good prices, think our flight and food was about 55$+tips. Some bottles to go (looked like most left with a case of Pliny) aswell as short, caps, and the like. A great visit. |
76 /100 981 AIRWAY CT Industrial tap room close to others, we walked here from Moonlight and Plow is even closer. Long bar along the back of the room, and about 10-12 tap's, good varity among styles allthough abit IPA heavy, pilsner, a couple belgians, stouts, a sour stout. Overall good quality of the beers. Samplers size pours served at 3-4$, full pours is 6-8$. A good number of guests on a friday night, still service was fast and effiecient. A good visit. |
64 /100 Whole Foods Market - Coddingtown (Grocery Store) 390 CODDINGTOWN CENTER Whole Foods with a good selection of beers, mostly locals and mostly in 4/6 packs and bombers. There is a taproom (Russian River, Henhouse + more) inside the store and next to the beer department, but not opened yet as we visited early in the morning. Good prices. |
80 /100 Bottle Barn (Beer Store) 3331 INDUSTRIAL DR Huge industrial place, barn seems the right word for it, slightly messy. Huge selection of beers, locals, plenty of other american beers, import, danish(Amager, To Øl, Mikkeller) belgians, germans etc. Surprisingly few Russian River. Good prices. |
74 /100 3350 COFFEY LN, SUITE A Another industrial place a short ride from downtown Santa Rosa. Our Uber driver took us a little up the road to see how close the wildfires got to town last fall - scary. Nice Modern taproom, clearly put some money into it, brewery to the left as you enter, bar to the back. 8 or so beers on tap, flights, half and full pours, growler fills. Quality of beers pretty good. Food truck outside, we tho we didnt had any. Pretty busy on a early friday night, service still nice and informative. Fair prices. Nice place. Walked to Cooperage after this. |
72 /100 3330 INDUSTRIAL DR Small industrial place right across the road from Bottle Barn. Small bar and like 4 tables. 7 beers on tap, samples, half and full pours, aswell as crowlers avaible. Sampled all seven for 2$ each. Beers where pretty good, nothing really great tho. Really nice and chatty service with a good knowledge / interest in beer. We enjoyed our stay here. Really nice music to, classic heavy rock / heavy metal. |
74 /100 610 3RD ST Big brewpub in 2 flors and with a beergarten out back, near to Russian River. Visited a friday afternoon after RR, a good number of guests but plenty of seating for us. 11 beer on tap + handpumps with cask version of 2 of the same beers. Flight avaible with all beers for 19$, hell of a deal. Quality fair, not outstanding on tap beers, the cask ones had been on to long. Fine fast service. |
90 /100 725 4TH ST This is a must visit if there ever was one. Home to the Pliny, great tap selection, bottles to go, tasty food, decent prices. Just make sure you avoid the worst rush hours and you can't go wrong. |
70 /100 610 3RD ST Super Bowl Sunday and Pliny release weekend made this place empty early in the day. Sampled a few and got a crowler to go.Went for their highest rated beers, and was underwhelmed. I had just come out of RR, so perhaps my palate was skewed. Still found them rather pedestrian. Open and inviting, kind of industrial feel. No guest taps, Flight options were for the whole lineup, else just 10 oz pours available. |
88 /100 725 4TH ST Visited in March 2015; An outstanding brewery. Good food and great beer. The place was packed on the night we stopped by. I had a Pliney first, which of course was outstanding. We then waited nearly an hour for our pizza and the beer flight, but it was well worth it. The flight was unlike anything I've seen elsewhere - 19 different beers! They were arranged in two rows with one row being all Belgian style beers. One of my favorite brewery experiences even with the wait. They also have a nice little store where you can get your brewery swag and growlers to go. |
78 /100 725 4TH ST Never a dull moment, hard to find a quiet time, or a seat. Good food, sours much better than expected, other beers run the gamut from decent to great Worth the wait? Depends on how bad you want a Pliny.... |
88 /100 Bottle Barn (Beer Store) 3331 INDUSTRIAL DR Stopped in after a visit to Cooperage. Wide open warehouse style, bottles available in both cold case and on shelf. For imports, i didn't notice too much out of the ordinary, the usual German, Belgian and Brit beers. Heavy on the locals for most of the craft beers, but they did have Jackie O's but only sours (boo!) Pliny bottles a plus. Found plenty to keep my interest, decently priced. |
76 /100 981 AIRWAY CT Brewery back in industrial area. Inside is wide open, height gives it appearance of more space, but its petty small. Bands on a Tuesday were rocking the place. Looks like constantly rotating taps, a good variety of styles, most of the usual suspects and a fair amount of IPAs. Friendly and comfortable.. Small menu available, but did not eat. |
62 /100 Beverages and More (BevMo!) - Santa Rosa (Beer Store) 2090 SANTA ROSA AVE Normal for the type of store, a bit less selection than expected. A few bombers from the local area, and six packs. watch the labels, some shelf stock was past date. |
54 /100 Safeway - Santa Rosa (Grocery Store) 2300 MENDOCINO AVE Overall decent selection of regional beers, including a few standouts (racer X). Mostly six packs, limited bombers. Found a few that were new to me. |
64 /100 Whole Foods Market - Coddingtown (Grocery Store) 390 CODDINGTOWN CENTER Good selection of bombers, did not pay attention to six packs. Tap room on site too. A good selection of local breweries, as well as the usual suspects. |
82 /100 322 BELLEVUE AVE Nice small tasting room, out if town, Industrial area. Friendly open, speedy, knowledgable. Not a bad beer in the bunch. Food available, did not try. |
74 /100 Beer Baron Bar & Kitchen (Restaurant) 614 4TH ST Popped in here as the weekend lines at Russian River were too long. Small, locally focused tap list. Small food menu too. Maybe normal for Cali, but prices seemed high. |
76 /100 322 BELLEVUE AVE Well, I talked up Cooperage to my wife before our latest trip, and then Henhouse goes and beats em hands down in both beer quality and service. Not a ton of stuff on tap and a little hop heavy perhaps, but the hoppy stuff (especially the haze) is really good, and classics like the oyster stout and saison are under-appreciated. The structure itself, a bit of a warehouse strip mall vibe, is nothing special but prices were pretty good, beer was very good, and the service friendly. |
80 /100 Bottle Barn (Beer Store) 3331 INDUSTRIAL DR Not much to the place but the selection is really good, no singles though or possibility to do a mixed six. The guy that helped me was super friendly and really knowledgeable. Most prices were good, there was a big section of barrel aged stuff with some pretty eye-watering price tags (probably no higher than elsewhere though). Worth a visit for sure! |
82 /100 610 3RD ST I really liked this straightforward pub in the downtown area. Not hugely busy on the Saturday evening that I visited. Service was top notch. Beers were of a decent quality, really liked the Bombay Rouge red IPA. Food good also (had a pulled pork sandwich). Good prices. Overall a really solid place, would strongly recommend. |
80 /100 Whole Foods Market - Coddingtown (Grocery Store) 390 CODDINGTOWN CENTER Was also amazed to see a tap room inside this supermarket, not open though when we visited. Staff were helpful, especially as an issue came up when we paid for our stuff, as we were overcharged for one item. Selection was solid, good range of big bottles, limited selection of single smaller bottles. Food at Wholefoods is always good, with a great hot food selection and salad bar but is quite pricey. The beers I bought were reasonable, some expensive bottles also. Not a patch on a dedicated bottle shop but great if you want to buy groceries and beer at the same time. |
86 /100 725 4TH ST Can't say much about the ambiance of the pub, as we sat outside. Rather busy on the Thursday evening that we visited. Service was efficient, if not overly friendly. 20 own beers on tap, no guests that I could see. I had three beers - Blind Pig, Pliny the Elder and Consecration, all of which were really good. Food-wise we had a pizza and a tuna sandwich, both of which were great. Prices seemed decent. A must if in the area! |
98 /100 725 4TH ST Visited here while on vacation in early August ’17. Can;t add much more than what others have said. Great interior of old beer signs, classic looking mirrored bar, Located in a nice downtown area, parking nearby. Had well over 20 on tap, available in half pints, pints, tasters and growlers, The prices were extremely reasonable. Pliny for $5 - come on! Prompt and friendly service, waiter appeared to show up just as glasses were getting empty. Food was solid, If any where near the area, a must stop! |
84 /100 725 4TH ST Did the pilgrimage with a bus from sf. Amazing to see how busy the place was on a monday morning. Beers were great of course, with lots of stuff that’s not available anywhere else. Food was really delicious as well. The beer is well-priced, especially the tasters. As someone else said, this place does everything right. Worthy of the legend. |
70 /100 610 3RD ST Really good service, the food is not bad, pretty good prices, I like the booths, lots of beers on tap and some very interesting ones - they just aren’t super amazing. |
