“Phenomenal shrimp pasta, with a ton of indoor and outdoor seating. Great vibes and friendly staff“

“Up on the second floor, a tap house with a bottle shop connected. The bottom line: a great selection of geeky beers but very pricy. The tap list was a mixture of Korean Craft, American Craft, and Belgian, including Tilquin on tap for 18,000 for 250 ml! Great bottle selection too, including several different 3F and other lambics. You will pay for them, but probably not more than they would cost you in the US. Nice service, crowded. Good for geeks.“

“Pretty sure this was where we went. They had a handful of Belgian beers in bottle for outrageous prices, plus 4-5 taps of Magpie. Also priced about 12,000 per pint which was about the highest I saw. Lovely atmosphere though, which made it worth a stop for a pint.“

“Place was packed when I went in, mostly people dining. Sat at the bar and got a 4 taster set for 19,000 won. Beers were mediocre. The manager was super friendly and she chatted with me about beer for a long time despite the place being busy, which I appreciated, being alone. That was the best part of my visit.“

“Small place on street level with pizza and 4 taps. This is a Korean-owned brewery that finds it cheaper to brew in California and import to Korea. I had a NE IPA which was decent enough but not great. They serve pizza by the slice.“

“American-like place run by Korean Americans, it seemed. Burgers and fries everywhere, a bit pricy for those. A nice tap list, mostly Korean craft but a few American beers including some rare ones. Prices were about average though I was lucky to come in on the day of a hop industry event so got to try some stuff in small pours at lower prices. I liked it.“

“Basement dive bar, with another street-side bar next door. Went during an event so it was packed. Decent selection of beers, most of them well made, available in both cans and on tap for some reason. Pizza looked good. Toilet is upstairs and a bit of a pain. Had a good time.“

“Usually visit on weekends. Mostly their own beer. My favorite is “Amazing IPA”. They literally have “amazing” beers. Friendly staffs and good food.“

“A nice pair of bars opposite each other down a side alley in Ikseon-dong. They have about a dozen beers on tap between them - all South Korean craft brews. They only seat about 20 people each and have a nice cosy and friendly vibe.“

“NOTE: Ratebeer map is wrong. Use "devil's door coex" in Google Maps for the correct location. This is a huge bar in the massive COEX shopping complex. It would seat hundreds of people and serves various American style pub food. They have five Devil's door beers on tap. I tried two of them and both were bland. Besides the doors (devil statues) the place is essentially uninteresting unless you like paying top dollar for uninspired beers in a shopping mall.“

“NOTE: Ratebeer map is wrong. Use Google Maps with this search term: "World of Beer Hongdae" This is one of two World of Beer Venues in Seoul and is located in the busy shopping precinct of Hongdae near Hongik University. It is upstairs and is quite a large venue with 40 taps. The range is extensive including plenty of Korean crafts across all beer styles, some imported, and also some corporate lagers too. The style is sports bar with multiple screens showing various sports. Music when we were there was loud gangster rap which didn't encourage us to stay beyond one beer. I guess it could be a decent venue depending on what you are after, especially given the wide range of brews on offer.“

“NOTE: Ratebeer Map is Wrong: Go to Sinyongsan Station and follow the signs to Amore Pacific where it is located on the lowest floor. The newest of the Booth pubs in Seoul is located in the basement level of this amazing office block/art gallery/shopping centre. If you find yourself on the main level and can't locate the pub, you could ask the talking robot adjacent to the information counter (seriously!). The venue has about 8 taps including some of their own plus guests from Korea and overseas. It seats about 20 indoors and another 20 outside. Being in a shopping centre its difficult to create any real vibe but it felt pleasant enough. The main downside was the uncomfortable wooden stools which are not conducive for a long stay.“

“A very cool venue in the very cool Ikseon-dong neighbourhood. They are located in an old Hanok house with several rooms based around a central courtyard. There are about 10 or so taps of rotating craft beers, mostly South Korean. Food is Pizza and assorted other things, service was fine and overall a great vibe. One very good thing was the music - in that it wasn't top 40 pop or gangster rap which we have encountered in other Seoul venues. Worth a visit.“

“Not a bad place ticked in a laneway of Ikseon serving about 20 of their own beers and couple of taps. It has a few different rooms off a central courtyard. Service was good and beers were reasonable. A worthwhile destination if in the area and could be tied in with visits to many other brewbars in the region.“

“A nice vibe permeates this place with several rooms branching off a central courtyard. There's about a 15 or so taps of their own beers. We tried a few and all were very good. The pizzas we had were also good. The neighbourhood is full of craft beer joints but I'd certainly consider coming back here again despite all the local competition.“

“A nice enough basement venue with 18 or so taps of largely their own brews. What we had were nice and would be keen to try some others. The venue itself was pleasant enough - although the music selection is pretty bad and loud (unless you like cheesy American top 40 tracks). Ultimately I might give it another chance but given the range of other places now serving good beer in Seoul I'm not sure I will.“

“Cool bar in cool area. Ik-Seong dong has many bars, food places and art, craft jewelry in traditional Korean Hanok buildings. This bar is in such a Hanok around a central covered courtyard. 10 beers on tap of which more than half are local craft beer with a few internationals. Three different four beer samplers. Friendly staff. Cool music if a bit loud. Comfortable. They do food. Price is par for area. Don’t trust the RB map - put the address in Google Maps.“

“NOTE: Ratebeer map is wrong. Put this into Google Maps for correct location: "craft hans jonggak" This is a nice two storey establishment overlooking the Cheonggyecheon stream in central Seoul. It has about a dozen taps of its own beers plus some others in bottles. We tried some of their own and all were solid. Their menu is typical Korea beer bar with fried chicken and pizzas dominating. Service was prompt and it had a nice vibe. There are a number of other beer venues in the neighbourhood too.“

“This is a very nice establishment with 12 Korean crafts on tap, some European bottles and some excellent bar food. The prices are high but the service and ambience are excellent. All up a great venue. NOTE: the Ratebeer map of this location is incorrect. For correct location put the following into Google Maps: "Seoul Gypsy"“

“Huge place with large selection of craft beers, many their own. Quick service and no problem with English. Detailed beer menu book on table. Recommended for a visit. Must be 20 or 30 taps. Nice space - big brick walled rooms - ex industrial by appearance.“

“Cool basement with comfortable interesting decor. Friendly helpful staff but glad I had a fluent Korean speaker with me. 18 beers on tap, mostly their own. The few I had were good. There is food but I didn’t try it. Music is interesting but a bit loud. Pretty empty early evening on a Saturday.“

“A really neat spot with a huge out front outdoor space with hammocks and comfy seating. Very beach meets urban. Lots of families and little kids, coffee, juice and food make up the most of the day drinkers menu. I was there for beer and sadly no flights or small pours. Samples can be had and the beer quality was pretty decent. This was a good stop.“

“In a weird spot between major roads and companies but in the back alleys. Staff was pleasant but not too beer focused. Flights for a fairly OK price if you can get one of the one off special beers. Quality was OK and honestly everything was OK, just a bit boring.“

“A tiny hole in the wall that is very difficult to find. It is on the second floor, outer ring of the mainly lighting mall. Good luck. Tiny and casual, very beer nerdy and good staff that speak good English. Small tap and bottle list, mainly imports and of course their own contract brews. No flights or small sizes but you can try some stuff no problem.“

“If you are looking for ticks in the area, there are some here although they are pricey unless you are there for 2 for 1 happy hour. That may be cheaper than the flight price. Not a bad spot, but with so many better options it is hard to recommend. The typical pizza place in a busy area, there just isn't much to say.“

“In this spot surrounded by beer bars, brewpubs and lots to do it has done a great job of standing out. The building itself is fantastic, with an inner courtyard and full wall windows to look at people and be looked at. No bar, but surprisingly great customer service. Pricey as expected but reasonable flights at an OK price. I liked the spot and the beer was solid. I highly recommend this place and area for ticking.“

“Sometimes a bar just clicks. This is my nirvana of Seoul. Easy going, passionate, beer culture is promoted and staff and beer are awesome. This is not a ticker joint though. No flights nor small pours and a small curated tap list. They only had one of their own beers on tap and had a guest chef doing the food. The first really good sized bar that was packed and in fact it was a local hotspot despite the higher than average prices. I loved this place.“

“It looks like a pizza place from the outside in a trendy little eatery square, but once inside you see the tanks. Service was OK, but very Korean. Only 6 beers, but the best flight price in town at only 10k for 4 good sized pours. My heart wept. Beer quality is sadly marginal at the moment.“

“Another little night district has this open air and indoor pizza place that hosts a taproom for 2 breweries. Galmegi and The Ranch. Flights and tons of beer make this quite a good ticking spot. 16 on tap and flights of 4 or 8. Prices aren't great but pretty good for Seoul and the odd taster can be had as well. I didn't eat but it claims to be a proper Italian pizza joint and the food looked good. A good spot for lots of ticks.“

Beerroom (Bar)

“A huge modern building that is an Italian eatery and a huge beer bar. Sadly the service is weirdly inefficient and doesn't work as a ticker. You pay at the bar and servers bring you your food and drink. This prevents samples and they don't do flights and very few small pours. The extensive list makes up for it, but be prepared to drink and pay alot for the huge selection.“

GANGNAM-GU, 2F, 167-28, 논현동
“This bistro bar is all about craft. Craft and interesting food, craft beer and a nice way to show it off. The owners also own a beer distribution company so you can see they only carry 4-5 brands internationally but they are big interesting brands. HF on tap! Prices are a bit steep, but you get what you pay for. They are very nice and will translate everything for you as there is almost no English.“

“More like a disco than a bar, but seating downstairs, although still loud is fine. The area is expensive so the flight is pretty absurd but if you are looking for ticks and don't mind the music they are here to be had. Beer was pretty average.“

“A nice little spot with a small bar and good amount of short tables. Very empty. Flights for a very reasonable price and for a Mikkeller bar a reasonable value. Staff was a bit cold and even went out of their way to ignore me. Pretty sad since I was the only person at the bar.“

“Like most BrewDog locations this one is big and brash. Service was decent and there is a flight that isn't too bad considering it is Asia and BrewDog. They make their own beers at the pub so there are definitely new ticks to be had and I thought they were pretty good. A bit off the noisy bar district this is not a bad stop.“

“What a wouldn't do for a local pub to serve craft beer and local food. But this place makes a go of a good sized import list in draft and bottles. Pricey and of course no flights or half pours. Chef is good though and although is succumbed to a steak and pasta, they were both very good and well worth the price. The beer has been sitting for a bit, so try the IPA's before you commit. A decent spot, but unless you are looking for american style red meat, you can walk on by.“

“Beer store where you can crack them open and drink inside or on the patio. Surly old lady is the owner, but the rest of the staff are pleasant and try really hard with broken english. Impressive bottle list from all over the world and a few locals. Prices are decent and there is no charge to sit and drink. What makes this place shine is it's early opening hours, which seems to be rare in this neighborhood.“

“A tiny taproom just serving their beer and some spirits. No food, really just a frontage to expose the products. Brit manager is a nice guy who likes beer and will happily chat you up if you are new on what to do and where to go. Apparently this is a temporary space so message ahead it may be gone.“

“I would call this the Mikkeller killer. Super industrial and cozy, good smart staff and a ridiculous selection of import beers. Prices are insane, but the type of beers are worthy of those prices. I would hang out here and drink all the time if I were a local and could afford it. Big names like Garage, Wakefield and tons of lambic were for sale. No small pours and no half sizes. Worth a stop just to see and have a drink.“

“A huge spot with both a big indoor and outdoor area. It lacks a proper bar though, but service was quick and I didn't mind. Preset flight of 8 for too much considering what you get. I got one then ordered the single size beers while getting samples of the rest. They didn't mind. Table service meant hard to engage, they were all young trendy and eager to please. Prices were on the better size and selection was huge. Beer was hit or miss. A great spot for ticking.“

“When I went the tap list was empty except for 5 Ballast Point beers. The owner was busy on the phone so after seeing the list I left. I can't figure out if this is the trend in the area or there was just a massive change for the rest of the taps. I will pop back in to find out, but for now as I saw it I have to review as a dismal place.“
