64 /100 Strand (Bar) GOLD STREET Former jewellers that has been converted into a proper pub rather than a micro. 1 long room that feels like it has separate areas, nicely done. Beer range is Ok, you should pick up a rate or 2. I’ve found the service hit and miss but worth popping in if you’re in the area.
There is a very small car park in Gold Street or just furher down there is a medium sized free car park opposite side of the road to Sports Direct.
All buses to Longton stop close by on the Strand or Longton rail station is a 5 minute walk away. |
64 /100 Crescent (Bar) 1 BATTISON CRESCENT, Smart refurbishment of the former Polish Catholic Centre just outside of Longton town centre. 4 hand pulls, Pedigree as with many pubs in the area being the staple. The other 3 beers were from local micros. Worth popping in if in the area. |
86 /100 Congress Inn (Bar) SUTHERLAND ROAD Basic community local with a cracking range of well kept real ales. Friendly staff. You can park in the car park opposite even though it says for Best DIY only. Currently (1/10/14) the house beers are Townhouse’s Meridian Mild and Gladstone Strong Ale plus Castle Rock Sheriff’s Tipple and Wells Bombardier.
Kasteel Rouge is also available on tap as well as Dortmunder Pilsner and some mass produced British stuff. |
90 /100 Congress Inn (Bar) SUTHERLAND ROAD A very old fashioned pub with a 30+ bottled beers from Belgium and the US and 9 hand pumps, 6 constantly rotated, all at a very good price. The staff are very friendly, as are the locals. May be in need of a lick of paint, but a must visit if you are in the area. |
