“We rented a house in Stowe for three nights for a long weekend in Vermont during the pandemic. Wasn't supposed to still be the pandemic when we booked it, but oh well. Picked up cans the first afternoon and the beer garden was closed due to inclement weather. It was open the second day, though, so we came back and hung out for a couple cans. They only had 4 cans available to go (plus merch) that weekend, but there are 2 more exclusives available in the beer garden (minus one stout, which was only to go). Online ordering is recommended for to-go orders, curbside pickup only. The facility is large and kinda modern and the taproom/shop was closed for renovations/pandemic. Solar panels hang above the parking lot. The beer garden is a large lawn that had a small tent/counter for sales in the middle. Cans are $6, no cups/glasses. Tables and Adirondack chairs were spread out across the lawn. A couple snacks are available, too. Really nice vibe here.“

“We came here on 24.12.2019. Really goo beer selection: Vermont specialities (no Hill Farmstead though), some German and Belgium beers. Very friendly service and a bar attached we did not visit. We purchased the Maple Nipple from Lawson’s.“

“We came here on 23.12.2019. 20 different ciders on tap. Very attentive service. Huge place with open production area and additional rooms for private events. Seems they are 6 years in service and do not have their own orchard. We did sample their standard products but also special ciders. They have 2 local beers on tap. Good experience.“

“We came here on 23.12.2019 after a great skiing day in Stowe. Bar with a few tables, ambiance is not exciting. 30 beers on tap, a great selection. 3 beers from Hill Farmstead, beers from Trillium, Lawson’s and AleSmith. Super nice service. Absolutely recommendable!“

“We came here on 22.12.2019. Beer place # 1,000 and Von Trapp brewery absolutely deserves this historic number. Fantastic Pilsner and Helles, all other beers very good as well (Berliner Weisse needs some improvements). The brewery tour was impressive (every Saturday and Sunday, for free). They invested a lot to make awesome beers and additional capacity available for further expansions. We liked the Chicken Schnitzel and the salads a lot and service was super attentive. We had the honor to sit next to Johannes von Trapp and had a long conversation (In German) about Salzburg and the history of his family. Great merchandising and a observations deck overseeing the brewhouse and the bright beer tanks. Fantastic place - we will come back!“

“We came here on 22.12.2019. #7 stop during our Vermont trip. Very new, well designed brewery with nicely painted tanks. They are selling their beers with certain limits per person and you can sample 3 beers including Heady Topper. Solely for this beer they have a second brewery, which is not open for the public. All 3 beers (Only IPA’s) were great, shame they did not have more variety. Despite it is a bit commercial and there is no brewpub a must visit.“

“Just off the main drag that runs through Stowe. The facility is situated on a lawn with some trees. It is easily recognizable with the abstract pattern on the silo and The Alchemist symbol on one side. A partially shaded patio is adjacent to the beer sampling/serving area. The beer sampling/serving area is the spot to receive one of three samples being offered (the day I was there they were Heady Topper, Focal Banger, and Alena). You can come back for free samples as often as you’d like. They also sell 4 oz. glasses for $4. The retail checkout is on the opposite side. In the middle is the brewery where the tanks are painted up like cans of their beer. Cans are available for purchase in 4- or 6-packs. They will also sell you singles. T-shirts, hats and other memorabilia are available for purchase too.“

“Took my kids to Waterbury for the Ben and Jerry’s tour. The Alchemist is a short drive and well worth it. Attractive tasting room with a beautiful summertime view. Cool artwork on the ceiling, walls, and tanks. Free delicious samples (they had three today), and they had something like 10 beers for sale in pint cans. Stickers and coasters are free, which will add to my beer garage’s wall. Perfect in and out visit with my family; couldn’t see putting them away on the winding roads of the Green Mountains without a sober driver. I left in sunlight; must be pitch black when the moon rises. Would highly recommend a visit. Excellent product. Cheers!“

“Now known as Tres Amigos mexican restaurant. Not much of a craft beer place per se but they have like 24 taps of solid Vermont stuff (fiddlehead, alchemist, HF, etc). Decent prices. Nice if you want tacos with your Anna.“

“Huge brewery with annexed restaurant and bar in the hillside, it all looks quite new. The pils here is quite good, I had several full pours. Food is pretty typical German grub which I do not personally love but it is good quality, albeit a bit pricey. Good place to go put down some fresh pils.“

“2 minutes driving from The Alchemist, so may as well pop in here. They have a brewpub side and a restaurant side, but everything is available on either side, so I don't really understand the split. They had 9 beers on tap when I went, with a core flight of 6 available for $13++. Decent food menu, with some vegan options available - way overpriced though at $18-20 per main entree, but tasty food. Beer quality wasn't anything special. Service was, however, fantastic. Worth a stop if you're in or near Stowe.“

“Not a full-fledged tasting room, as they only have 3 beers for sampling on the left, and you can buy 4-packs (mix-and-match available) on the other side (they impose limits due to the high demand). I'd never been, but didn't find a single new beer, so wasn't particularly enthralled with my visit. Not a highlight, sadly.“

“Interesting operation, geared entirely to seeling cans to go and swag. You can't drink here, other than your three free samples, served in very fancy glassware considering it says "drink from the can" on each one. There are some standing tables, no stools or chairs at all. Nice view into the fermenters and brite tanks. Friendly staff who must be bored stiff. Six beers on offer. Good place to pick up cans but not a place to linger.“

“This is more of a nice well-run restaurant that also brews beer. I sat at the central U-shaped bar with big fancy barstools. The other rooms are "eclectic" and there's a big patio out back. Plenty of parking as well. Eight beers on offer with a set flight of six. Barman was very nice and took good care of me even as the place filled. Food is quite tasty. The beers were better than I thought they would be after reading some reviews, I was happy with each one. A worthwhile stop.“

“This is a sprawling place. The lodge is beautiful and is celebrating it's fifth anniversary. There is a coffeehouse near the lodge as well and numerous other outbuildings, each with its own function. The brewery is the newest space and I pretty massive. U-shaped bar in a large dining room, there's also tables on a porch with a view of Stowe Mountain, and some picnic tables on the lawn. Six beers on offer, flights of four available. Beers were very safe and included German styles as well as some hoppy lagers. Service was friendly and efficient. Johannes von Trapp sat down next to me as I was leaving and ordered some food, so he seems like a hands-on type of manager. Nice place to visit.“

“(September 2016) Three free beers to sample. Endless piles of coasters and stickers. Lots of cool swag. Friendly folks. Great architecture. Somehow they make it smell like fresh hop cones in here. Come to find out they're adding wet hops to their Harvest Ale today. First time they've brewed it in canning quantity in several years. Lucky me.“

“Right next to Idletyme, Alchemist visible a block away; crazy beer density for such a tiny town. Plenty of off-street lot parking. Not busy mid-afternoon on a Wednesday. Beer list on the wall behind the bar, solid selection including a couple HF beers. Excellent Pizzas indeed. Beers available as full or half pours, which helps. I ticked a couple new ones and had a nice pizza. Good chit.“

“Great service. Great food. Fantastic view. Local craft beer on tap and in bottles. It's spendy, but I've found that nearly all good Vermont restaurants and gastropubs are over-priced. This place is within a ski and zipline resort, so...
Don't come here for the beer. Come for the food, service and especially the view. "Oh, and hey, they have some good, locally-brewed craft beer too." The business hours change depending on the season, so give them a call before showing up. A Google search does seem to display the current hours of operation. They are obviously on top of that so that should work for you too. “

“The place is relatively expensive, but the food is good and they offer friendly service. There're plenty of space and places to sit indoors. There's also a very nice outdoor patio area. Unfortunately, the beer is mediocre at best.“

“Very nice looking property and building. They give free samples of 4 different beers on tap (usually always includes HT), and they have cans and merch to go. Staff was great and the prices are very reasonable at about $3-$4 per 16 ounce can. The only downside is that everything sells out quickly and they usually only have 5-7 or so different beers available at a time.“

“Charming little store here with a wealth of bottles, organized with a sharp attention to style detail that is sort of weirdly convoluted. I have to note that the proprietor made some dubious claims about certain corners of the craft beer world and was sort of a big talker in general; but, he was very friendly and eager to provide good service. The cozy little bar attached to the side is a nice bonus, great for hiding away from family for a little while. Excellent service there as well. The only way it could be better is if there were one or two options beers on tap, against the current lineup of several cans which were of varying freshness levels.“

“Diner style bar with larger dining rooms expanding off of one side. Packed place during the holiday week with many vacationing families. The bar design creates a bottleneck of people trying to find service or their companions; service was friendly while the staff were in herding mode. Daily specials on beer including Hill Farmstead specials on Wednesday. Certainly seems to be a local favorite especially for drinking although the menu also has a higher-end gastropub feel. I'll stop in again when things are less crazy to find out.“

“This place really felt hollow to me. A sprawling patio and ambitiously modern interior both fall flat in terms of feel, unsurprisingly seeming designed for rich visitors; no objective complaint about this, it just doesn’t offer what I like in a restaurant or bar environment. Service was friendly and professional, food was expensive and bland. Ten beers on, mostly German styles executed with some decent quality and local style pale ales with some clear deficiencies. Likely would not return here with better beer available so many other places nearby.“

“This is the definition of an immaculate space. The pristine interior and bucolic courtyard area are beautiful and ultimately make for the most gorgeous waiting room anywhere, since only tastes and to-go cans are offered. This cant help but feel like an opportunity not maximized, but they want to keep their system simple and I get that. Five can offerings on today, including Focal and Crusher, with Heady having sold out. The line is efficient and fast-moving, likely all the time since it is a simple packaged transaction. Given the variety of choices here, and the other benefits of visiting Stowe, this is most definitely a better option than whatever local Heady Topper source depending on your time restriction. For locals I might estimate this to be worth an hour’s drive. For visitors, since you’re probably already visiting Waterbury if in this area at all, this is an obvious detour.“

“The drive here is funny. You are literally driving through corn a block from the brewery. Take a left and suddenly there it is, new and architectually intersting, large building with a huge gravel parking lot. This is a production facility with a tasting bar and purchase line, but given that they go all out. Only three beers available to try when I was there (Heady, Focal and the porter). Samples are free. The can purchase area had 5 offerings, all @12.50 per four pack with differing limits. The place was pretty busy at 11 on a Thursday, but there was no real line for cans. Plenty of merchandise available, and great views of the brewing equipment. Cool place and definitely more fun than standing in line at a beverage warehouse for your Heady fix.“

“Lunch top after Alchemist. This is a nice space in Stowe, right next to Piecasso. They have a big parking lot and a large outdoor patio with shaded tables. 10 taps plus a few local cans. Definitely german styled in their beer selections, although they do toss in a pale ale and oatmeal stout. Very prompt and efficient service. Menu is German/Vermont fusion with some interesting choices like the brisket reuben (which was quite good). Beers available as a flight of 6 for $12, or as individual 4oz tasters for $2 each, which is what I did. Generally well crafted representations of german styles.“

“A cozy Stowe Cider tasting room between downtown Stowe and the mountain on Mountain Road with a nice selection and service. Flights are available, seating is picnic table-style, and there are some board games available to play as well. Carryout is available too, and the value is good. Worth a stop if you’re into ciders and are in town.“

“The not so "bustling town" of Stowe might make one think, well, what exactly is in this town that could swoon a "hardened beer drinker" to take a peak inside this place. Ha - yes, it might be the same everywhere one goes, but this mom and pop shop isn’t a Vermont state store, so that’s something to think about. Also, I’ll give kudos to the fact they even in Winter when Vermont gets "Vermont-like," they do a good job of keeping up with the cleanliness.“

“A cool spot in Stowe that offers free tastings of a limited # of offerings (along with merchandise). It’s cool to see the canning line in action, and brings consumers awesomely close to the production line. The selection isn’t extensive, but it doesn’t need to be, because the offerings are so great. “Finally need to say something about this awesome pizzeria. Their pizza is excellent and with Focal Banger and Heady kept in cans pretty much at all times, what’s not to love. Guessing their beer guy can probably walk to The Alchemist if he/she wanted to. Also, if you get bored with this place, just walk to Idletyme.“

“Decent place, but you’re in Stowe and there’s a ton of great beer all over this town. What they have going for them is the mix-a-six, other than that, probably not a "beer destination" of Stowe at least. Use as a last resort if you went to the other places in this town.“

“Nice new addition to Stowe. The place gets insanely crowded during ski season even on off times so keep that in mind. The service was really strange as the hostess seemed put off by the fact that we were there. She may have been a bit flustered due to the crowd but she basically told us "LONG WAIT 45 minutes+" even though there was nobody waiting and a couple empty tables visible. We were seated within 10 minutes and from then on the service was fine. Good tap list from local favorites to international stuff. Food is really the star here. Just great pub dishes that are a bit pricy but really good.“

“Not a bad place in Stowe. If anything, it’s a tough town to keep a great craft beer place going. Yes, they keep some macros here, but the food is always good and service is fairly quick. For a little town like this, these guys are stayin’ alive at their own pace.“

“I didn’t see event center as an option for adding a place on here, so "bar" it was. But yes, bar/patio/place that has loud music or music that they play overly loud. But 24 taps of great VT beers, they usually like to stick to the Stowe options, mainly. Cans of Heady and Focal can be seen. Saturday nights, families should probably seek elsewhere.“

“Impressive new building with professionnal, efficient given the popularity, lineup management services. you basically come here expecting to lineup and load up and that’s what you get, in a relatively comfortable and friendly setup. They may run out of Heady topper, but if you’re attending, you know the drill and frankly, it’s as transparent and well laid out as you can hope it to be. Prices have always been kept at very friendly level given the demand.“

“I was passing through and saw Coffee and Beer shop on the sign on the outside. I said to myself, "self, this sounds like my type of venue." Of course, I had to stop in. And I was met by an extremely clean and inviting atmosphere from the staff and how everything was set up. Coffee bar and seats off to the left and beer bottles and cans off to the right. Some glassware for sale too. Bottles and cans were kept nice and neat and somewhat off to the back. Nice variety, a ton of New England breweries with some Goose Island, Victory, Alamanac, Founder’s, Brown’s, and Brooklyn. I didn’t have any food, but wow, boy, did it smell fabulous in there! The value, well, some of it seemed reasonable. To me, if you’re passing through, it’s worth a stop, but I wouldn’t make it a "Mecca" to stop at.“

“Well stocked bottle shop, not quite in the same league as CBC Waterbury, but not far off. Lots of local stuff, with plenty of beer from further afield that I’d not spotted elsewhere. Decent prices. Friendly staff. The bar area to the left of the shop, up a couple of steps, felt a bit redundant, but maybe at other times it fills up. No taps, just bottles to drink in here. There are a few local foodstuffs to browse in here, too. Worth calling in, definitely.“

“Visited here twice, mid November, once to drink, and once to drink and eat. Great tap list. Decent prices. The bar area felt a bit crammed in, with not much room between the bar and adjacent seating, but there’s plenty of other seating. Service was good. The day after we called for food and drinks. Place was busy with a decent atmosphere. The food was a big let down, though. My burger was well cooked, but completely bland. The missus’ eggplant and mozzarella sandwich was an oily, inedible mess. The server got our drinks wrong, too. With so many other places to choose from round here, this isn’t somewhere I’d bother giving another chance, I don’t think.“

“Called here on a weekday, around 5pm. Airy space, that feels as new as it is. Glass and brick and shiny surfaces. Loads of swag. Free tasters on tap, behind a small bar. The friendly server cracked a Beelzebub open (which wasn’t on draft), to split between the half dozen or so punters in there. No line for cans, at this time, that are stored chilled and come into the retail area via a small conveyor belt. Great view into the spotless brewing area. It’s not a place to linger by any means, but rather is a fast and efficient place to pick up well priced, fresh beer.“

“40th birthday celebration brought me here. Very nice clean ambient vibe, music felt low enough and comforting to blend with the great food and beer taps (ie HF, TA, Crooked Stave (yes, CO, but, they’re really great brewer), Idletyme, Von Trapp and Jack’s Abbey (MA)). My pizza was phenomenal. Value seemed reasonable for that area of Vermont. I’d go back.“
