“A tiny little bar and bottle shop. When the bar gets a bit busy it is really not possible to look at the bottles. Everything Taiwan which is nice and some stuff I haven't seen elsewhere. A decent discount to go. Not a bad spot considering it's location to Driftwood.“

“A really nice beach theme with a really nice bar and tiki huts, service was just ok. Same deal on large pours only and no flights, but samples if you ask. Come for the u inquest atmosphere in Taipei.“

“A tiny seating at the bar and a larger space o the other floor. Service was decent but nothing special. A good tap list with some nic bottles as well, prices are high even for here.“

“A tiny kiosk bar in the lobby of a hostel. Chipper staff doesn't understand why she can't help me decide and why I want to try everything. Maybe I am getting grumpy but this kind of service starts to get old. You can do a cheap flight of their mainstays which will put you far off from even wanting to try anything else. Beer is not pleasant and even at the price is not worth it. Sure some cheap ticks, but even I have limits.“

“A pleasant craft beer bar with lots of bar seating. Pleasant owner but little English and he kept trying to converse which was frustrating at times. Decent local tap list and flights and small pours. Pricey though“

“On a nice day this place must rock, rooftop view and huge patio. It’s raining today and I am the only one at the bar. Staff is nice, and like the others flights, samples and decent beer. If you don’t want to be outside this is not the best location.“

“Upstairs in the Breeze, a western style brewpub like all the GBs around the world. 6 beers on tap at a reasonable price for a flight if you so desire. There is nothing unique to this location and the beers are all the same. Service was great and they offered me a sample of the seasonal before I even sat down.“

70 /100 NO. 2號, LANE 357, SECTION 2, HEPING EAST ROAD, DA’AN DISTRICT
“A Canadian owned place that is primarily for expats and English speaking tourists as the bartender had no other language he could really speak. Mainly a stab at an American bar with almost all imports and PBR if you are interested. This place is both horrifying and great but all that matters is a good import tap list at reasonable prices.“

“A good sized and trendy spot that seems to cater mostly to expats. Service was great, offering me tastes before I even asked. Cheap flights for Taiwan, but sadly not the greatest beer. A stop for a dozen cheap ticks if you need them.“

“Fun little stop. Flights and tasters as well as an happy hour. Taps for water at all the tables. Lots to drink and try, the staff spoke English very well. They tasted all the beers first to make sure they were OK. Great stop.“

“Tiny little spot where you drink outside. It is covered but no respite from the heat. Not many taps and pricey, but 2 sizes. Much too pricey even for Mikkeller.“

“An entirely outdoor bar attached to the side of a super high end shopping plaza. Service was very beer focused with the bartender knowing alot about the beer and process of making it. Selection was not as big as the others, but they did flights which included the imports. The flight price is reasonable, but you could just buy one sand sample another for the same price. Overall a nice spot on a hot day.“

“A higher end Gordon Biersch along the same lines. German beers of decent quality, easy drinking and high end atmosphere. No tasting, and samplers of 3 are a the going high rate locally. Beer was OK, nothing too bad. I had a snack which was decent, but in a city like this way overprices and not as good a local snack food. Stopping in for a flight isn't the worst thing you could do.“

66 /100 NO. 60, HENGYANG ROAD, ZHONGZHENG DISTRICT
“Right downtown, only steps from the main station, this is convenient and open early. Huge front room for dining and a backroom open courtyard concept for the bar. Quite nice in the back. Staff was friendly with little beer focus. Flights were pricey but the norm for Asia, quality however was pretty dismal. Go for the ticks if you need them, but there are better ways to waste your money.“

“A very nice and spacious bar with communal seating and long high tops only. Cocktails downstairs. Staff is nice but not really beer focused. English is good and they are attentive. Big pours only and no flights. Painful as a ticker, but you sample no problem. Quality is all over the map and most of the food is American style and pricy.“

42 /100 NO. 4-2號, ANDONG STREET, ZHONGSHAN DISTRICT
“Just opened a few days ago, and I was recommended the place by the bartender at one of the Zhang Men bars. They are the taproom for a brewery from Taichung that I had trouble locating, but they translate themselves to "Hellow" apparently, which is now searchable on RB. Unfortunately, the beers are so bad that I can't recommend the place -- all the ones I tried had a strange and rather repulsive boiled vegetable character. Flights of 3 available for 320 NTD, not a good deal, but pretty typical for the city. The bartender couldn't have been friendlier though. Cash only. They need to sort the beer quality out. As of now, not worth visiting.“

“Another Taihu bar, this one with a sleek, modern interior with plenty of seating and a rather beautiful bar. Since this was the third Taihu bar I’ve been to, there wasn’t a whole lot new for me, as the taplists seem to all be very similar. 12 or so house taps, plus another 12 guests. No flight, but bartenders will give tastes. So you’re looking at either 330 or 500mL pours for 200 or 300 NTD—the usual, steep Taipei beer prices. If you only come to one Taihu bar, make it this one or Driftwood.“

66 /100 NO. 132, SECTION 2, FUXING SOUTH ROAD, DA’AN DISTRICT
“Probably the most affordable flight of beer in town, so in that sense, it’s very ticker-friendly. Flights of 4 for 200 NTD. They have 12 taps, 9 of which were their own. Beer quality was weak / boring - the most uninspiring craft brewery I tried from Taiwan. The place itself is modern and comfortable, with 4 bar seats and a couple dozen tables. Service was good and English-speaking. Worth a stop for the ticks, but the beer is very lame.“

23 Public (Bar)
106, DA’AN DISTRICT, 辛亥路一段100號
“In the far south of town, so a bit far to go, but it’s worth the trip - can Uber out here for under $10 from the centre if you don’t want to do public transit. Small, intimate tasting room. A dozen or so taps, with 8 dedicated to their house beers. Flights of 6 for 580 NTD, which excludes guest taps. Otherwise, you’re looking at 200-220 NTD for a pint, or 150 if it’s during happy hour - this latter option I’d recommend, as the bartender was happy to give free samples. Service was good, though a little stand-off-ish until I made an effort to engage. Worth a stop.“

76 /100 NO.10, LANE 4, YONGKANG STREET, DA'AN DISTRICT
“Another great Zhang Men Iocation, this one a little ways south of the centre. Small place, with 5 tables, plus 4 bar seats. 20 taps, with flights of 6 x 120mL for 600 NTD, same as the others. Bartender spoke perfect English and was very friendly, and happy to give additional free samples. They had a different list here than the others, so I found a bunch of new stuff. Recommended stop.“

68 /100 STORE #11, NO. 1, YUMEN STREET, ZHONGSHAN DISTRICT
“Further north than most other craft beer joints, this is mostly a bottle shop, but had a lot of people drinking in the evening I went. There are a few taps as well. One shelf of bottles was devoted to Taiwanese, and two more for imports. There are better shops for bottle selection. Not a top spot in that regard, but it's in a stylish outdoor mall. Cool spot.“

74 /100 4TH FLOOR, NO. 16, SONGGAO ROAD, XINYI DISTRICT
“4th floor of the building. Modern place, with limited seating. 18 taps, with flights of 6 available for 600 NTD, pricy stuff. Similar taplist to the other location I visited today, with a few different ones. If you’re in this area, worth a visit, but I suspect that once you’ve done one of them, the rest are much less impressive. Nice place.“

Way Home Beer House (Beer Store)
NO. 10 LANE 155, BADE RD., SONGSHAN DISTRICT
“Pleasant place, a little out of the way. 4 taps, none of which were Taiwanese - 2 Belgian and 2 New Zealand ones. It’s more of a bottle shop. Somewhat limited bottle selection, featuring lots from Taiwan Head Brewers. Lots of imports too. Nothing special here, really - there are better bottle shops in town.“

52 /100 NO.8,YONGJI RD., XINYI DISTRICT
“Sort of English-themed, a ways out of the centre, but still very accessible. Only five taps, only one of which was Taiwanese - happy hour between 6 and 8pm where pints are half-price. They have some bottles too. Not a very inspiring place. Wouldn’t recommend a trip, but if you’re nearby, may as well pop in and have a look.“

42 /100 1/F, 91 SONGREN ROAD, XINYI DISTRICT
“This is an unabashed hate rate: modern, corporate, soulless place with 12 German-style beers on tap. Flights of 3 x 200mL available (what’s the deal with such a large flight size?) for 340 NTD, a big ripoff. And worse, they add a 10% service fee to the bill. Server wouldn’t do further samples - restaurant policy apparently. Beer quality was super lame, with weak, watery and generally unconvincing. Just crap. Pretty much didn’t like anything about this place. Give it a miss.“

66 /100 NO. 68, SECTION 5, ZHONGXIAO E RD, XINYI DISTRICT
“Tiny hole in the wall, not accessible from the mall, but rather from the pedestrian walkway on the south side. It’s open to the outside, so if you’re looking for some AC respite, you won’t find it here. No seats, standing room only facing the pedestrian walkway. 13 taps, with 6 devoted to Taihu and the rest being US locals. Flights of 4 available for 400 NTD, not a great deal, but I’ve seen worse around town. 330mL glasses available for 200 NTD for most beers - server was a good English speaker and was happy to five tastes. Not a top tier place, but if you’re nearby and can bear the heat, it’s worth a quick stop.“

68 /100 NO.4-1, ALY. 22, LN. 553, SEC. 4, ZHONGXIAO E. RD., XINYI DISTRICT
“On the east side of town, this is a pretty cool, modern but intimate and classy taproom with a very Asian feel. 13 beers on tap, though 3 were sold out when I visited. Flights of 3 available for 360 NTD, quite the ripoff, but that’s Taipei. Taplist was all local stuff, which was nice, but most of it was pretty forgettable stuff - none of the more ambitious local beers to be found. Super-friendly guy behind the bar, who speaks beginner English, so have patience - he is very kind. Worth a visit.“

74 /100 NO.39, LN. 160, SEC. 1, DUNHUA S. RD., DA’AN DIST., TAIPEI CITY 106, TAIWAN (R.O.C.)
“Opened earlier than most places (2pm), this is a decent spot for earlier in the day. Modern, yet tasteful and well-designed interior. 16 taps, mostly devoted to US and Belgian imports, but they had 3-4 Taiwanese ones too. No flights, just two sizes (330 and 500mL) for typically high Taiwanese prices. Bottle selection is very impressive, with likely the largest selection I’ve seen both of imports and locals in Taipei. 20% off for bottles to go, so I indulged that. Service was friendly but spoke minimal English. Worth a visit, especially for bottles.“

76 /100 NO. 39, SECTION 1, FUXING SOUTH ROAD, SONGSHAN DISTRICT
“A bit hard to find if you’re using Google Maps. Enter the Breeze mall from wherever, and head to the ground floor - then you have to enter this outside courtyard to enter the place. If you have trouble finding it, find an info map inside the mall and it will give you step-by-step instructions on how to get there. Okay, the place itself... 22 taps, all their own. Custom flights of 6 for the outrageous price of 600 NTD, though the bartender who served me was generous with the free samples. Beer quality ranged from poor to good - their IPAs were no good, but some of their others were decent. Couldn’t have had friendlier service - his English was good for Taipei standards. Worth a visit, even despite the prices and middling beer quality.“

BeerCat (Bar)
NO. 9, LANE 1, SECTION 2, CHENGDE ROAD, DATONG DISTRICT
“Nice little bar with our 8 taps - 2 were Taiwanese, the rest being American. Flights of 4 x 180mL for 500 NTD - not worth it for North Americans who don’t care about the US beers on snow here. Otherwise, the beers come in two sizes - the Taiwanese ones are moderately priced for this city (read: rather pricy). There’s a fridge with another hundred or so bottles. Friendly service with minimal but passable English. Worth a stop.“

68 /100 103, TAIPEI CITY, DATONG DISTRICT, NANJING WEST ROAD
“It’s another combination bar and bottle shop. This one has 5 taps, all from Uiltje when I visited. Bottle selection is mostly imports, but they had a shelf devoted to Taiwanese locals. 15% off on bottles to take away. Super friendly, helpful and good English-speaking service. Worth a look.“

46 /100 NO. 6, LANE 250, NANJING WEST ROAD, DATONG DISTRICT
“Tiny little place in one of Taipei’s many little hidden streets. Two taps, uninteresting stuff, with a fridge of a few decent things, but ultimately not very noteworthy. There are way better bars and bottle shops. It’s across the street from BeerAmmo, which is worth hitting, but I can’t even recommend bothering with this place. Pleasant enough place, just not very interesting.“

64 /100 NO. 58 KAIFENG STREET SECTION 2, WANHUA DISTRICT
“This is really more of a bottle shop. They have two uninteresting taps, plus a decent bottle selection. Friendly service. It’s a block from Driftwood, which is worth hitting - so if you’re here, may as well pop in here if you’re looking for bottles.“

48 /100 NO. 60, HENGYANG ROAD, ZHONGZHENG DISTRICT
“This place is way overhyped. Medium-sized restaurant, with air con blasting at the front part and only fans in the back, which is where they stuck me. 6 house beers on tap, with flights of 3 or 6 available for 245 or 490 NTD, respectively - quite expensive. Beer quality is quite poor - the pilsner was solid, but the others were weak, barely passable versions of the style they purported to be. Service was lacklustre and they add a 10% service fee to the bill at the end. Definitely not recommended.“

68 /100 NO. 46, KUNMING STREET, WANHUA DISTRICT
“Beautiful spot in the southwest part of the city, close to the river and a block from The 58 bar. Interior is very wooden themed, with also a somewhat Hawaiian feel. 18 taps, 10 of which were dedicated to Taihu. No flights - smallest pours are fairly large (couldn’t tell exactly how much - maybe 200mL), priced at 200 NTD for a small and 300 for a large. Bartenders—some who speak excellent english, others just passable—will give free tastes to fill that filthy ticker habit in you. Bunch of Modern Times and other US guest taps fills out the list. Lots of US bottles for consumption too. Wasn’t too hot on any of the Taihu beers I sampled. Very pleasant place to chill, at least during the afternoon - can see that it’d get crowded and overwhelming in the evenings. Decent spot.“

76 /100 NO.241, NANJING W. RD., DATONG DISTRICT
“Very close to the main station, this appears to be a tiny place, though larger than the new location - 4 seats downstairs, the rest is standing room only. However, there is a roomy upstairs with room for maybe another 50. 24 taps, with more than half devoted to Mikkeller taps, the rest being US and Taiwanese guests, plus a couple of wine taps. There’s a small fridge of bottles too. They also sell Mikkeller spirits here. Very pricy, Scandinavian-level prices, as per typical Mikkeller. Service was alright, willing to give free tastes. Definitely a top spot in Taipei.“

66 /100 NO. 14, NANJING WEST ROAD
“This second location is absolutely tiny. You enter and there’s the bar, with less than 100 sqft of standing room, no inside seats. There are outside seats, but when it’s 37C outside and nearing 100% humidity, that ain’t happening; so I ordered by beers and found a ledge to rest my beer on while taking notes. 12 taps, 9 being Mikkeller taps, 2 being Taiwan Head Brewers taps, and 1 devoted to wine on my visit. Bartender was friendly and willing to give tastes. Rather pricy, but cheaper than the original location. For some reason, they serve the beers in shitty little plastic cups - what the hell, Mikkeller? Worth a visit, but the other location is certainly better.“

56 /100 NO.241, NANJING W. RD., DATONG DISTRICT
“There are four uncomfortable bar stools which are poorly situated. The long brightly lit bar is almost exclusively standing room. Don't expect to get to know the bar tenders because the bar isn't a feature here. The main seating is upstairs where there is no service, no waiters, which means you have to cart your beer upstairs. Great if you want to burn those carbs you're consuming I suppose. The food is little more than snacks. The chili made me laugh. It's a tiny, wee bowl that you're supposed to use as a dip for your corn chips. The beer is mostly imported from Mikeller in Denmark, the States and a local brewery or two, having said that, the few local brews are just as overpriced as the imports. Like many craft pubs, the beer list changes fairly frequently with a few core beers. The beer is very good. The music is quite good. Add seating at the bar, service upstairs, decent food and I could grow to like this place.“
