| 82 /100 6000 BLIMP BLVD, UNIT A “Very cool brewery in a small uneventful town near the coast. You can’t actually see the coast here, so not much reason to linger other than the beer at de Garde. The latter is obviously top quality, although they don’t have a ton of their own beer on tap. I believe it was six of theirs, and six guest taps. A bunch of bottles are available to drink here, and a smaller list available for takeout. Friendly service, and nice design. No food, but there were some taste food trucks nearby.“ |
| 86 /100 6000 BLIMP BLVD, UNIT A “Called in during a slow, winding 250 mile drive up the Oregon coast. A nice smart tap-room in Tillamook, right next door to a Pelican brewpub. Large barrels with seating outside. Inside it's fairly small compared to taprooms from the larger players, perhaps 6-8 tables with stools. Six De Garde beers on tap, with six guests including a Black Damnation and nice wild-fermented Oregon cider. A well-curated bottle selection with some choice Belgians, some UK bottles. Friendly, helpful staff willing to talk through all the beers. I got a couple of samples and bottle to take out ($19 for a 75cl). Nice vibe here, good music selection, and probably the nicest toilets I've ever been to in a brewery. Check opening times though - I got lucky calling by on a Sunday, but they're closed Mon-Wed.“ |

Smaller # of taps (6) with not only a bunch of bottles available to go, but a bunch for on-site consumption. My only negative, are all bottles are 750ml - I was the only one drinking so i could only drink a couple. That being said, this is a must stop place ... PERIOD.“ |

I visited on a Thursday in mid-March and was a bit surprised to find a queue of people waiting for it to open. Beers available to takeaway numbered about 5, with another half dozen or so available on tap. There’s also a pretty expansive bottle list that offers some of their more hyped releases at surprisingly decent prices. In general, I think De Garde offers some of the best value wild ales produced in the states. Say what you want about their beer, but it’s very reasonably priced. Beer quality during my visit was very high and the staff were exceedingly friendly. Overall, I was quite impressed by the experience and will happily make the drive out from Portland on future visits. Don’t come expecting to find a destination brewery experience. Calibrate your expectations accordingly.“ |

It’s sort cool to be able to watch the brewing staff work as you drink. The customer experience is definitely different than the massive Pacific City brewpub location. The Tillamook outpost offers a very small gift shop and bar service in a cramped space. A very limited food menu’s offered (think tater tots etc.). The beer list numbered about 8 in total, and had a couple of new beers for me. No wifi was offered. Staff were professional but quite transaction oriented. Overall, I wouldn’t rush back due to the cramped layout and relatively limited tap offerings.“ |

First of all the guy at the register had the personality of a potato and was just a plain dick. The food is a plus, except for probable frozen fish and chips. Smoked salmon was really strong. Fries are frozen but ok. A touch expensive. The beers were mediocre at best.

No kids or dogs allowed so after a long trek here its a pain in the ass. Strong draft list, bottles to go, and rarer bottles to drink here. The servers were nice but not overly or joyful. Cool experience but it lacks a little charm.“ |

The smell of manure from surrounding farm fields mingles with the aroma of fermenting fruit and grain to give an idea of what this place is like. Rotating selection of draft, bottles to go and on-site only bottles. Four guest taps of great local and one Belgian lambic. Lots of friendly service. I would definitely come here again.“ |

If you’re not very interested in highly specialized beers—or at least very curious to learn more—this isn’t quite what you’re looking for. But if you do happen to have a liking for sour and funky ales, there are only a couple places within 500 miles that are definitely better, and, hey, you might be more in the mood for De Garde right now. In short: the more of a beer geek you are, the likelier it is that this is one of the best places for you to drink in this state. Maybe make that several states.

It’s picturesque because there’s green everywhere, but you’re sitting in a slightly-gussied-up warehouse in the middle of nowhere. Don’t come here hoping to be spotted by paparazzi. There’s a little parking out back, and a few tables out front. Inside, there are a couple rooms with barrels for tables, and padded stools. They put in some nice vintage-looking light fixtures and clocks, so it feels more like a tasting room than it does a workspace, but it’s fairly minimal. There’s a bar to the left with friendly kids hopping to it when you order. These guys searched throughout the state of Oregon—literally—to find the best place to make their beers. They spontaneously ferment everything, rather than pitching cultivated yeast in each batch. This can occasionally create unexpected results, and they can’t always confirm exactly what fermented each beer. They do this in a koelschip, which allows waiting wort to capture whatever wild yeast floats by, and their chemical tests confirmed Tillamook has the most interesting cultures in Oregon. So, they started their brewery here.“ |

Only 8 beers on tap, mostly "safe" beers and none of the sexy ones. Cheap flights and friendly service. They do food, including a vegetarian option (veggie burger) but I didn’t try it. May as well hit it when in town, as there is not much else.“ |

Seating is pretty tight, but they opened tables and chairs among the tanks to accommodate the larger crowds. Service was friendly and tried to engage in beer banter. Selection was large with a nice bunch of seasonals. Tasting flight is available and cheap. They had food, but we didn’t eat. Overall a good stop and convenient if you are travelling on the coast.“ |

Inside, a shuffleboard and a fair number of tables; with the bar and grill taking up a fair amount of space. No seating issues, however, on a pleasant evening, as my wife and I were able to grab a seat outside on the fairly large patio. Service is quick, though they seem to put a premium on efficiency - which is fine - and the beer is the normal lineup with a couple seasonals but nothing much special. Prices are a bit high, which is somewhat normal for the coast, but also just what Pelican does in my experience. Altogether, a nice little hangout, but not really somewhere I’d need to visit on a frequent basis - more as a matter of convenience.“ |

Cozy ambiance with a wooden fence look on the walls, laminated bottle art mosaics, and a fair number of tables and chairs in its three rooms. Granted, I’m not a huge fan of barrel tables; they’re next to impossible to write on - fortunately, i was able to grab one of the stools. It was very busy on this night; lines out the door all night for the bottle release. (It was not my reason for visiting, and though, I certainly don’t begrudge such busyness, I was also hoping to avoid it. Not exactly their fault for being popular, right?) Service was both efficient and personable, prices were excellent - even for the bottles which one could drink at the location, and altogether I’m pretty sure that whenever I’m in the area, I’ll stop by again.“ |
| 88 /100 6000 BLIMP BLVD, UNIT A “An interesting place. I’d imagine that a lot of visitors are driving out from Portland and the drive is really quite beautiful from the city. It’s about how long it takes me to get from Orange County to San Diego, so not that bad, either...stop complaining, Oregon people.
The tasting room is quite small. A bar that really consists of just a kegerator on wheels (and there’s a second one). They have a handful of beers on tap and a bottle list that seems to rotate regularly depending on what has just run out. While we were there (only really an hour and change), three different bottled beers sold out...and we got there right when they opened. Anyway, aside from the main portion of the tasting room, there is a second area you can hang out in. You can poke your head into one of their barrel storage areas, too. Tables are also present outside to sit and drink, which is quite nice on a summer day. Prices are really quite good and fair on everything, which is pretty much a staple in Oregon, it seems. The beers are generally good and of course, they’re all sour-ish. It can be hard to pull yourself out of the city, I’m sure, but I thought it was well worth it to come out here and I was initially skeptical about doing so. Also, if you have some time, it’s a short drive to the Tillamook Cheese/Ice Cream factory and you can also go check out the awesome Oregon coast. If you’re really adventurous, go north to Astoria and check out the Goonies house.“ |

Surprisingly not busy on a Friday evening, with an eclectic mix of locals and the occasional beer bro. Some outdoor seating, and a few tables inside as well. Full pours are $4, or a flight of 3 four ounce tasters (no choices) are $8. Only one person working the tiny little service bar. She was really nice and clearly knew her beer. Bottle orders handled blazingly fast. They had 5 of their own taps running, plus a couple of guest taps (including Pallet Jack IPA for the sour haters) and at least nine bottles for onsite consumption, including multiple imperial bus. Also a half dozen bottles to go, with limits ranging from 1-6 per beer. Prices ungodly cheap. Really friendly laid back vibe. World class.“ |

One of my favorite new brewers. A must if you are on a pilgrimage for great beer.“ |

Really lovely small interior with barrels as tables. On our visit, there was 4 De Garde beers on tap (all Bus), and 1 guest tap from Block 15, available to try all in sampler tray for $6, which I thought was reasonable. They also had 6 bottles available for purchase. Very friendly service. A must-hit stop when nearby.“ |

It is twice the size compared to the old TR and has outside seating as well. The tables were made from repurposed 100yr old cognac barrels that they couldn’t get to swell. It’s still a bit cozy, but WAY better than the old location. No food and this unfortunately means that minors aren’t allowed on the premises. The beer is always fantastic and they usually have something in bottles to go. de Garde is off the hook!“ |

Tiny place. Excellent service. Had some bottles to go. No kids allowed. I love going to places like this that are mellow and totally local. Too bad the hoarders are on the prowl and will try to ruin this place. But I think the management is pretty well aware of this, and hopefully it will stay what it is: a great local brewery committed to a wonderful craft. I think the location helps: man, try getting to Tillamook from anywhere! The drive down 6 was wonderful, just a bit of a challenge. Anyway, fun place. Good luck!“ |

The taproom is situated on a large balcony area overlooking the brewery. Eight Pelican brews on tap, six regulars and two seasonals. Sampler of six for $7 (and the server added one more seasonal brew). Bottles to go in coolers near the entrance. Also, some merch (shirts and the like). Friendly service. Small pub food menu, with appetizers, sandwiches, soups, and salads. Good place to try Pelican’s beer (which are mostly clean, well-made standard styles).“ |

I imagine that they will outgrow this space pretty soon. Only two de Garde beers on tap, plus two guest brews. Several bottles for sale. Great service. The woman who pours the beer was very friendly. When we had a question about the name of one of the beers, she immediately texted the brewer and got an answer in a few minutes. Prices are a bit high, but this beer is definitely worth it. Only need 10-15 minutes advance notice since the brewery itself is nearby. Only two people on staff, the owner and brewer. Both were there to greet us after opening the tasting room especially for us. Beers on tap are all avant garde (haha) spontaneous fermentation with sour stouts and Berliners. High quality, big pours for only $3. 750mLs to go for $8-9. Great prices. Really fun to visit and chat sour beers with Trevor and Lindsay.“ |
