80 Seems to be a pretty happening bar and restaurant. Decent sized dining room and a good amount of patio space as well as a large bar area. Kind of dark and perhaps a bit of a mid-century feel to it in general, but doesn’t feel dated.
Full bar with plenty of cocktails to be had as well as a selection of wines. Beer list was extensive as well with at least 30 different options. I believe pints only here, which is kind of to be expected since it’s just a normal restaurant. That said, some of the beers are pretty interesting like Prairie 3rd Anniversary, a barrel aged IPA from Sixpoint, oak aged Oktoberfest from Two Brothers...so not just your run of the mill stuff (though they have that too). Definitely some beers available from the local Gainesville breweries. Pretty cool place. Would definitely recommend popping in for a drink or two, and possibly dinner. |
80 Finally made it here after moving from Ann Arbor and was rewarded nicely. Really reminds me of being back in A2. They randomly had CCB Cafe Con Leche on tap! My face went "!!!$$$$!$!$!$!!!!$$!!!". Some other CCB brews that included their standard stuff in addition to seasonals and one-offs. Really a nice surprise. Burger was good as was the wife’s chicken breast. Decent service and perfectly reasonable prices on the beer given their selection. Unexpectedly awesome selection on tap. Will be returning. |
84 The Top is located in downtown Gainesville off Main St. At night, transforms from a hip restaurant to a indie night club. Really cool interior with patio, including a fire place! The service tends to decline when they get busy, but the bartenders do try their best. They recently expanded and now have an excellent selection with more than 20 taps. Tend to be Florida-centric with lots of Cigar City and Swamp Head, including their obscure stuff. Food is pretty good as well. Prices are higher but worth it in my opinion consider the ambiance. Highly recommended. |
84 This was my favourite bar when I lived in Gainesville. Pretty busy, but the atmosphere is great. Tap selection is excellent. What do you expect with Cigar City, Bells, etc. available? Food is very American but fresh, interesting, tasty and well prepared. Prices are good too. If you want to explore beer and beer style rarities you’re better of at Stubbie’s maybe, but this place is great when you just want to enjoy beer, food and your company. |
86 Had a great meal in TOP last year, and again visited after the Hoggtown Beer Fest. They now have a large bar with a great selection of craft ales, the food is outstanding and it’s the first Restaurant i’ll be visiting when I get back to Gainesville! |
68 Not the place I would seek out for the all encompassing beer experience, but a decent selection of the sort of beer you would find in a hipper establishment. Ambiance is very antique and rummage sale kitchy. Reminds me of somewhere you would find in Seattle or Brooklyn, with occasionally hipster servers to match. Either way, the service is usually good, and the food is absolutely great. It’s a must-dine establishment if you are in Gainesville. Advice- go there in off-peak hours. The place can get packed. But the bar area is fist come first serve and you can eat at the bar. |
86 Had dinner and a few beers here, food was just awesome. Our service was very good. The beer selection was not massive but the beers that were available were interesting and reasonably priced. Would certainly go back to eat here. |
