De Bierkoning

World-class bottle shop worthy of its reputation. Possibly the best Dutch beer selection, or close with Sterk; plus a nice lambic selection, and assortment of European beers in general. Friendly service. Bit crowded inside. Mandatory visit when in Amsterdam.

Really happy to discover this store. Wooden spirit. Beers are packed like beers in a library. Huge selection ( maybe more than 800 beers ?). Good selection of dutch beers, european (but only 2 french average beers...) and american beers (The Bruery, Jester King, Garden Path, The Prairie) ; nice selection of gueuze/kriek/lambiek (I found there 2 beers from De Cam); a few ciders too. I was there during tap take over of the norwegian brewery Eik & Tid and the australian brewery Sirène during Carnivale Brett Festival. Ok price.

Cozy shop, crammed with beer bottles. Nice selection of Dutch and international beers. Large amount of pretty exclusive American beers, a lot of them hard to find elsewhere in The Netherlands. Also pretty much harder to find Saisons, Wild and Sour Ales. Good Lambic / Geuze selection. Friendly staff. Prices are ok for location Amsterdam. Only disadvantage is perhaps that there is no parking space for the car in the immediate vicinity of the store. Must visit bottleshop when you're in Amsterdam.

Original Jul 2005: The best beer store I’ve visited. Belgium selection as good as in Beermania etc plus other beers around the world. Update Dec 2018: De Bierkoning - one of the first better beershops in Europe I think. I visited here for the first time in 2005 and back then it was the beer heaven. Now we have internet shops and beer places all over and Bierkoning looks same than in 2005. Well, it still was nice place to visit. I picked some beers from Dutch breweries I have not tried before and also Ramses Beer and The Hair Of The Dog collab beer!

Perfect shop. A lot of unique belgian and netherland beers. Service helpful but they don't follow every you step.
