If you need something that others have sold out of, this place may still have it. If your in the area, it’s a good place to stop. Commendable selection (especially for a grocery store), well organized, pretty good pricing.

Great place. Stopped by on my way to FL from TN. I was just standing in there amazed at the quantity and quality of selection when compared to TN when Heather walked up and asked if I needed help. I didn’t really NEED help, but greatly appreciated her reccomendations and conversation. Before I knew it I was in there for over an hour. I appreciate Heather’s work in bringing quality beer to the region. Be sure to grab one of the awesome Piggly Wiggly glasses while you are there.

One of Birmingham’s hidden gems when it comes to craft beer selection. It appears to be your typical grocery store and then you turn the corner into the beer and wine sections. Although space is limited, everything on the shelves and in the cooler is quality. Heather, the Pig’s beer and wine guru, has built an impressive selection and she often seems to get a few offerings that other places may or may not. Prices are typically on the lower end of most places around the city. A must stop if you are in Birmingham and shopping for beer.

I can’t choose which is better--the prices, or the service. Heather is a great knowledge source on all styles and the latest releases and new distributions to Alabama. Pricing is better than most craft beer sellers, and no gouging for individual botles. FREE craft beer tasting every Thursday, 5-7 pm. Can’t beat that!

This is my local bottle shop. I’m often the dope staring at the wall deciding which bottle I want to enjoy. Heather works hard to provide a value added experience and loves craft beer. She’s also an ace at wine.

OK, I know it’s the pig, but ignore that point. The selection is surprisingly good and thoughtful. The selection ranges from Alabama craft to regional and national craft. We met the beer manager who stopped by on her day off and made some great suggestions. So, it just goes to show that you can’t judge a beer store by it cover.

When you typically think of Piggly Wiggly, you don’t think of a place that has a great craft beer selection. So it came as a surprise when I heard this place had gotten a shipment of Westy 12. They didn’t have any Westy 12 left but that had a nice selection of craft including Evil Twin, Jester King, Mikkeller, Ballast Point, Stillwater, Birra del Borro, Westbrook, and Founders as well as lots of AL craft. We happened to run into the manager of the section and she made several good suggestions. Easily one of the best bottle shops in the state.

Knowledgeable staff that actually drink the beers they sell. There’s usually a weekly tasting on Thursdays...a great stop after work.
