82 Updated November 2016. I have revisited this place a couple of times, and they now feature the largest selection of Texas singles I have seen in the state. They are stored warm, but if you want to try a bunch of new Texas breweries the selection is great. Upped score from 76 to 82. 82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors) I only use the total score, not the component parts. Visited last afternoon on a Tuesday. This may possibly be the largest "warehouse" style liquor store I have ever been to. It was more or less overwhelming, though it was easy enough to find the beer section in the far back corner. There is a huge selection of beer in coolers, and an equally huge selection of beers in warm storage. I noticed not all beer was in the cooler, so make sure to check both places if you are looking for something specific. I was looking for Deep Ellum Rye Pils, and was able to find it. I was hoping to grab a variety of beers to try, but there was no single or mix a six selection here. The lack of singles was probably the main drawback. Service was mega store functional. Overall, probably a better spot for locals than visitors, but regardless a good stop. |
80 Probably the best Specs in the Dallas area. Pretty good and wide selection in cooler and ambient. Some mixed 6 stuff as well. Always running a sale on something. Fairly convenient to get to. Beer guys know their stuff pretty well. |
78 Large warehouse-style liquor store with an outstanding beer selection. Some offerings are less expensive, some things are more expensive. You can find almost anything on the market there. |
90 large beer selection,,,,,, wine and spirits too.,,, I got beers that I never heard of before,,,,
WILLOW HILL HOME BREW CLUB,,,, 2010,,,, |
82 Another big box store, but I’ve found that Spec’s has usually had good service when I’ve been in there. The just expanded their bomber selection and just put in a small mix your own 6pk set of shelves. They have a good selection of both bottles and cans available. |
74 Greatly expanded selection of bombers and 4/6 packs and expanded mix 6, can be a sketchy crowd at night, good prices on cigars as well as beer. discount for cash |
80 If you have been to one Spec’s you have been to them all. This is physically larger than most and they had a dedicated beer geek to help you along. Better than the stores that are just a few blocks away. Not great, but good and they don’t hoard stuff, so I found some nice Prairie stuff there. |
58 Impossible to get into the parking lot. Beer selection is actually pretty weak for how large the store is. Couple of racks of dry storage with about the same stuff you could find at central market. Coolers in the back of duplicates. Prices are blah. This place needs work in the beer department. |
74 Massive warehouse type store. Beer is all the way in the back. Pretty good size selection of regional brews with the original JK Black Metal in stock which was a nice find. Had already sold out of Avery Uncle Jacobs, but beer guy on staff was pretty knowledgeable. For Texas this place was pretty nice. |
58 Large and pretty good selection. A fair amount of TX meads that I had not seen before. Zero help offered, checkout staff that day seemed clueless and slightly ghetto (if you want customer service, cross the freeway and go to Perry’s) Massive liquor and wine selection. Prices seemed average. Somewhat hard to get too if you try to use the Walnut Hill exit. |
