84 Visited later in the evening, not many people inside. Sat at the bar, did not check the shop (not sure if it was opened) which seems quite interesting looking at the online shop. About 20 taps on with all kinds of different beers. Was too tired to go through it properly so it's on my re-visit list. |
80 Nice place with both a bottle shop and taproom. Only visited the bottle shop. Great selection of local breweries, as well a good selection of regional beer. Not as much of a selection for breweries outside of the region or international. Taproom looked like it had a well curated selection. |

96 5/13/19 (Chicago): Not sure why it took so long to reach The Beer Temple beyond the location, but well worth my first visit and can't wait to go back. Started in the tap room, over 20 draft pours including an ongoing cask conditioned handle, they offer a wide variety of brewers and styles at reasonable prices, especially considering the quality and availability of their offerings. Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and provided great service to one and all. Bar and table areas nice and accommodating. Bottles also offered, either from the taproom or bottle shop, which is extensive in terms of styles and quality of offerings, including non beer offerings such as meads and whiskey. In addition to the four (two more than I originally planned on going in), I brought additional offerings home (new offerings and old favorites),with a second and third trip list of additional offerings I plan on snagging in future trips. Friendly and knowledgeable service and selection, I look forward to many future trips to the Beer Temple! |
88 This place is a must-stop while in Chicago. The staff and selection are both great. An esoteric selection that will impress everyone from enthusiasts to connoisseurs. |
100 sample while you shop, brilliant |

94 A really cool beer store bar combination. Smallish bar area with a pretty standard bar seating. Service is quite good and knowledgeable. Selection is great in both the store and the bar. No food but they occasionally have a vendor on site. I will also plug the tacos across the street at the grocer. Prices are a touch high but you pay for selection. A great spot. |
82 This place doesn’t have the selection you think it would, it is mostly bomber offerings, very few 6 packs, hardly any 12oz singles, so it is a bad place for variety. But the owner here Chris knows his stuff and if you are actually looking for a bomber of something, you won’t be disappointed with the selection here. The beer is always extremely fresh and stocking dates are put on all bottles. Just under half of the beer is available cold as well. There is also a small selection of cider, spirits, wine. There is often beers open for tasting, some pretty rare and from far off places which is really cool. So in all I like this place but I don’t often go in here because it is not economical to the way I prefer to consume beer, lack of a vibrant mix 6 selection really hurts this place for me if you’re form out of town and looking for a lot of ticks there is a grocery store just down the street with a better (almost by double) mix 6 selection.
Re-rate, this place is now mostly a bar. They have pretty typical offerings form chicago, i think 20 drafts and a cask. The bottle selection is even smaller. Good bar for the town but nothing special. |
88 Really good beer store with a fairly small but really good selection. By that I mean that their selection is far more limited than e.g. a Binnys, but the actual beer is consistently of a very high quality. Found some real gems in here. Friendly staff, too, which helps. |
