Magnolias at the Mill

Upscale restaurant in an old mill, good service, nice food. A few local beer offerings (Adroit Theory) but most customers in here are looking for a Chardonnay.

Large and cavernous, we sat at the front in a place that stretched quite a ways up and back. The mill ambiance is correct, with equipment used as decor. Staff was nice and adequate. Upscale feel but the prices were solid on food and the food was decent. Nice beer list including lots of local beers and a nice selection. Of the four beers we requested none were out of stock. 3 x 5ish ounce flight for $7 and while there is a $1 upcharge for some, I should have been hit with that and I was not. Overall a good place in an up and coming beer town.

Stopped here for lunch before a beer tour of the area. Parking wasn’t bad, easy street with a lot across the street. Large old characterful building with plenty of preserved remnants of its industrial past. Service was top notch, with everyone working very hard. Menu was large and creative, food was OK but not great. Good beer list included drafts from two different DC breweries and one local one, and you could get flights of three if you like. Overall a nice stop.

Came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon after cutting a Christmas tree. Nice upscale country restaurant with live soft guitar music. Draft list of 28 quality beer and 32 bottles -- mostly large. Nice food and good service.

I have always had a positive experience at the bar and only the occasional mishap while dining at Magnolias. Owned by the same people that own Fireworks and Tuskies, they love their beer and it shows. They keep a nice selection of stuff in rotation, the staff are well educated, and there is very little mass produced crap. The bar can get crowed with regulars and for good reason. The food is consistently solid, if a little on the pricey side, and you can always find something you like on tap!

Found this place by accident while trying to find a place to eat while on a farm tour. Very nice atmosphere. While I had had a great number of the beers, almost all of them were good choices so the selection was good enough for me. Miller Lite and Sam Adams were probably the biggest, and weakest of the beers on tap or in the bottles. Food was quite excellent.

Great restaurant in a cool old building which (quite obviously) used to be a mill. The inside is all original, and belts loom overhead. They have 30 beers on tap that are rotated seasonally, from what I could gather. The ones I had (North Coast Red Seal and Stone Smoked Porter) were served at the correct temperature, but in pilsener glasses. The servers know their beer. The food menu is eclecticI had to make a tough decision between sirloin tips with artichoke and spinach ravioli and pork barbecuebut the dishes are excellent. There is also a bar. The only negative point was when when my waitress offered an Anchor Liberty Ale as a similar replacement for an Allagash Tripel.
