84 13-OCT-2019, visited with the family.
Fine Whole Foods with lots of 4-, and 6-packs. Not that many single bottles unfortunately. But hey, I love Whole Foods and this has a fine selection. |
72 Pas la plus grande sélection des standards Whole Foods mais c’est souvent suffisant. Son plus bel attrait est le bar, qui lui est dans le haut de peloton. |
64 A smaller WFM but with a fair beer selection, mostly cold singles though some packages are available. There are several stations throughout the store to grab some take-away prepared foods if you are needing something to go with that single or so of beer you just picked up. At the end of the day, it is a Whole Foods. |
70 Great selection of local brews and imports. 5-6 shelfrows of large bottles where half or so are in the fridge. Good value for money. |
84 Great beer selection, especially for a grocery store. Tons of the great San Diego beers available, along with lots of European brews available. |
82 Nice selection of beers that are unavailable to me in Arizona. While the cooler section isn’t the biggest I’ve seen in a Whole Foods (Chandler, AZ), it has a really strong selection of locals, belgians (including sours) and other high quality beers. Prices were in line with a nearby BevMo! |
72 First visit to this location. Its a very busy congested store with much to offer in the way fine food and exceptional beer. I noticed that they use the ratebeer shelf tags on some of their products. Prices on food items seemed higher than average, but prices on beer were more in-line with typical about town pricing. Nice place I will visit again. |
72 First stop to load up on beers on my San Diego trip. Found a wide variety of locals and imports, well stocked and carefully selected. Whole Foods is becoming one of the best chain stores for great craft beer. It sure beats the selection of other retail chains. |
68 Surprisingly haven’t rated this place even though I’ve been going here for years. Great selection as far as local beers go, and pricing can be good overall. Gets a huge inventory of Bruery Beers now as well as most of the standard SD Fair. The beer orderer knows her stuff and at least for a time was working double time here and at SD Toronado. Its a great bottle shop by itself but if your in from out of town it should make you smile check some off your list of things to get. |
72 I often find myself shopping at this location of Whole Foods, looking for that hard to find or unique ingredient for the latest and greatest recipe. Once I’m in the store, I casually wander over to the beer section and often stare for 20-30 minutes. My fiance always knows where to pick me up when she is done browsing the wine section.
Some of the great things about Whole Foods Hillcrest, relating to beer:
- Always have a great selection of recently released local brews.
- An above average selection of brews distributed in So Cal.
- Sweet selection of Belgian and belgian-style brews.
- A ton of bombers and 750’s to choose from.
- All this great beer is inside one of the better stores to shop for food = great pairings at your fingertips.
I find their prices on some things high at times, but overall on beer, they are reasonable. You can always find something to go well with the dinner recipe you’re shopping for. |
