72 First visit, October 2016. Apparently this used to also be a video store and tanning place (!) but from my cursory visit and view, it’s pretty much a liquor store. Cross Plains is one of those little towns that’s on the verge of suburbia and as such you can look at this store as either "Madison area" or "small town". If the former, it’s only somewhat competitive; if the latter, it’s excellent. I found several O’So beers that aren’t regularly distributed further south - in fact a couple I haven’t seen anywhere else - and loads of 3 Floyds including Zombie Dust which is fairly uncommon in bottles around here. The woman I talked to seemed somewhat knowledgeable - perhaps she was the owner or buyer - and very friendly. Prices a bit on the high side overall. Not worth the long drive all on it’s own for me, but definitely worth a look if you happen to be in the area or driving through as I was. |
