COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Earl (1911-1985) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Stout is crafted from American malted barley, Flaked Oats, English roasted malts, American hops, Organic Guatemalan Coffee, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. A silhouette of coffee and malt - an embodiment of complexity and drinkability, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Earl. 7.2% ALC/VOL 18º P Ingredients: Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Columbus hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2021 Pours black with thick tan head. Flavor is coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate. Has an unexpected bitterness in the finish, which creates a very nice contrast with the full body. Really, the only thing it lacks for me is a good aroma.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2021 Served up at the source in VT with NEBT crew. Large stemmed snifter glass. Beautiful outside patio spot. Pours a coffee black appearance. Nose is assertively coffee with plenty of roasty malt notes and maybe a hint of peat and smokiness. Taste leans heavily into the coffee characteristics with an impressive roasty quality and almost a dark fruit presence. Bitterness is primary but not overly done. One of my favorite coffee forward stouts. Delicious and worth the drive to get here.
