COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When the leaves fall, there’s a chill in the air and the evening greedily takes hours from daylight, we stand strong and embrace the wintertime. It’s a time of rich foods, roaring fires and our favorite sweaters. Drinks change from refreshing to intense and satisfying. The Mitten is a Winter cider, a blend of last seasons best, aged in bourbon barrels, with the new season’s fresh pressed apple juice. Straight cider, aged for 3 seasons, finds notes of vanilla, caramel and charred American oak, balanced with the best of the orchard, over-ripe apples and their sweet, tart, earthy juice. Many barrels are filled, but only a small portion, the very smoothest, will find their way into The Mitten. We love wintertime, especially when we have The Mitten to keep us warm and happy through the long, cold night.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2020 On tap at Virtue, pours a clear pale blonde. Aroma reveals earthy bourbon and muted apple skins. Flavour is quite dry, with a really nice bourbon and vanilla character upfront, and gentle caramel. Traces of residual sweetness provide the complexity needed. Very nice.

Small slightly bubbly mediumlasting head, cloudy golden color. Aroma is slightly sweet sour-ish fruity, sour apple juice, oak, apple cores, hay, sorrel, mild bourbon, bark, minerals, apple peel, alcohol. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish fruity, apple cores, hay, sour apples, minerals, sorrel, oak, apple peel, mild bourbon, grass, flowers. Medium bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish fruity mouthfeel. Nice one. Something kind of remind me of a light ice cider...

Draft @ Barleys Overland Park - Clear, pale yellow green, still. Some funk on the nose, the barrel aging comes through, green apple. Solid.

Has a strong ripe, apple aroma. Appears golden and slightly sparkling with a white head of minimal proportion. There is a sweet apple taste, with a bit of tartness. Unfortunately, I couldnt tell it was bourbon barrel aged, this would have given a nice depth to the flavor I think. Pretty good for a cider

dnstone (5952) - Saarland, GERMANY - AUG 4, 2017
Pours a clean clear golden with now head or visible carbonation. Light musty apple aroma. Light green apple tart and sweet followed by a light woody dryness, booze is light if noticeable. Notes: Bottle from Cosentinos, Aug ’17

Palme (5034) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 2, 2017
On tap @ Tørst. This is a clear looking apple pale yellowish one. No head what so ever. Smells really good. Lots of tart and almost musky apples. Canned pears, a mellow sweetness from yellow apples. What stands most out is the woodies. Really nice aroma. Tastes quite good also this. Its really low in the carbonation, near flat and it has a gliding oily texture in the mouth. Mild tartish and wood dry, yet shining with apple, apple juices and a little vanilla? Ah, a really good cider this. 15.06.2015

Tap. Pours clear pale golden with a small white head. Aromas of sweet apples, vanilla, light oak, pear. Taste is sweet, some vanilla oaky notes, mostly just apples and a bit of pear like sweetness. Dries out.
