blipp (13335) - California, USA - APR 22, 2021
UPDATED: APR 22, 2021 Can. Pours golden orange with a white head. Crisp and super dry, a little straw, some really rich minerality that develops mid-palate, just a touch of that mildly sweet and slightly nutty character that Vienna malt brings, and some soft floral hoppy bitterness to round things out. Just a super crisp and clear malt profile with beautiful balance on the back end and super high drinkability. World class in it's style. This is great.

ineedbeer (3410) - California, USA - MAY 12, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 12, 2020 Poured from a 16 oz can dated March 31, 2020. Aroma is grain forward with notes of cracker, bread and biscuit. Light herbal, spicy hop notes with a light floral note. Ml Pours a fairly clear, golden orange with a fairly large, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes slowly to a small creamy film that lingers. Medium lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with moderately strong malt notes of biscuit, cracker and bread notes. Medium light bitterness and light, herbal, spicy hop notes. Light floral esters. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice, malt forward Bock that's clean and easy to drink.

Bottle pour, picked up at Hop and Hound. I'm so stoked that this brewery I used to specifically seek out every time I visited Oregon is now available at my walking distance local. Amazing addition to the style here, one that I honestly don't know nearly enough about, due to mostly my lack of samples. A clean golden pour, soft fizzing head that fades. Aroma is a nice, slightly sweet earthy grain. The slightest hint of a booze in the nose as well, but it actually adds to this for me. A thicker body to this. Not really creamy, but just thick. Nice malt bill to this lager. Clean finish, but with plenty of nice malt flavor. Really well constructed lager here.

Draught. Golden colour, delicious sweet pale malts. Yum. This is clean, well-constructed heller bock that brings out some beautiful malts, but is still dry and balanced. One of the best examples outside of Franconia.

Nutty malt aroma. Substantial mouthfeel. Flavor goes to an unusual ‘corner’ of the taste triangle - hard to characterize - pleasantly astringent with strong earthy notes....malty, but not in the least bit sweet. Enjoyable as a sipper on a cool fall day. My goodness, does Heater Allen ever make good beer!
