UPDATED: MAY 19, 2019 750ml bottle. Pours a deep, dark purple color and topped by a small pink head of foam that fades away quickly and rejoins the body below. The aroma isreally nice showing huge notes of tart and jammy black and red raspberries right up front, some funk, woody, old oak and vanilla with a touch of fruit sweetness from the blackberries. The flavor follows suit with the tart red and black blackberries adding loads of jammy, tart and sweet notes followed by some funky, old oak, and a touch fruit sweetness with ample sourness throughout. The fruit sweetness and acidity cut through the sourness perfectly to balance things out. Medium bodied with good carbonation that leads to a jammy and tart red and black raspberry finish with lingering notes of oak and funk. Really awesome stuff as usual from DeGarde.

Poured a deep purple color with aromas of raspberries, light funk and hay. Flavors are the same nice tart raspberries and some light wheat and hay, solid overall.

Shared bottle. Gusher, but still tasting fantastic. Big jammy fruit notes, big sweetness of raspberries, dark fruits and a perfect sourness. Light oak notes.

Bottle, by way of a trade with b3shine. Cheers, Beau! Just about clear, Ribena red. Thick, dense, lasting, lacing, dark, dusky pink head. Nose absolutely bursts with jammy, sweet raspberry. It has the intense sweetness that freeze dried fruit would add. Some maraschino cherry. Soft, white chocolate and vanilla oak. Ridiculous aromas here that are just leaping out of the glass. Taste is sweet and jammy, with perfectly pitched, tangy, woody sourness. This is hard to put down, to be honest. Foamy and juicy mouthfeel. Massaging carbonation. The majority of the Berliner twang comes on the finish, and rounds up beautifully a stunningly fruity, juicy, delight of a beer.

Bottle poured into a snifter showing dark vinous red and crimson pink lacing. The nose shows light oak support with a black forest fruit forwardness. Dark and juicy plums and cassis. The palate is light bodied and highly carbonated. Highly tart and extremely fruit forward with flavors of fresh juicy ripe raspberries. Dry but slightly obscured by something. Still a great de Garde.

Light haziness to the cranberry-violet body. Pink/red-tinged beige head atop shows moderate retention.
Awesomely integrated fruits in the nose with easygoing lactic acid, black pepper, cherry meat-like notes and very soft oak suggestions. Quite laid back for a De Garde though the big fresh fruit notes are there, just not as jammy as some of their beers. Very aromatic, with a hint of acetic character but mostly tons of raspberry acid and moderate lactic character.
The flavor is even better, serving up a funky, fruit-forward, but certainly not sweet character with tight carbonation and a very supple, wheat-heavy texture that allows the acids to sink in and helps soften the sourness. Nicely integrated, with long, berry-heavy flavors lingering and coming back enjoyably retronasal. Couldnt’ stop drinking the stuff. Another masterful fruited sour!

Bottle shared at Dean’s last Stand. No head. Very hazy burgundy pour, looks like wine. Sour with some raspberries. Too sour for me.

Bottle shared with and courtesy of a limping but not too distressed marmot in Deanso’s garage. Red wine look with a big but short lived purple head. Aroma of big tart dark berries, fairly funky, manure and vinegar. Flavour is heavy sour. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation. So this is number three for the style at the time, but it’s very far below the J Wakefields.

750ml bottle. Gusher - not explosive, but one that just kept coming and coming and coming out of the bottle. That being said, this one looked and tasted fantastic. I would normally knock a beer for gushing, but this one just looked and tasted fantastic. Deep purple with a pink head. Raspberries, berries, jammy, wood, oak, funky, and just all around goodness. Chunky fruits on the side of the glass.

From notes. This was shared at a tasting at Gus’s abode with several participants on September 10. 750 mL bottle. The pour is a dark purple, carrying a light purple head and a light bit of lace as it falls. This is dark and thick looking. The aroma is incredible. There is a huge bright fruit and a jamminess right off the bad. The tartness is right there and keeps it light and sour. I like it. The flavor is really sour up front. The jammy tendency rolls in toward the back end, but this is really a beautiful thing. The sour fruit is just great. The mouth feel is a little syrupy. There is a light crispness to it and a bright carbonation. The aftertaste is all sour and tart raspberries. This is a damn good beer. I love what deGarde is doing here.
