LagerGuide122 (803) - - AUG 15, 2020UPDATED: AUG 15, 2020 330ml bottle brewed in England at 6%. 8 months past (conservative) Best Before. Fairly clear toffee colour, nice neat longlasting head. Toffee and raisin aroma. Slightly thick but refreshing texture, lowish carbonation. Some light toffee notes, more prominent raisin, quite transparent flavour profile. Possibly faintly nutty. Hint of metal in the aftertaste. Is this really more like the 70's ESB than Fuller's current ESB? Hmm. Not bad, and more easy-drinking than Fuller's ESB, but as a result not quite so rich. My biggest nitpick would be the slight metallic finish - not really a good thing IMO, even if some dry balancing to the sweet ESB flavours could work well. Second biggest might be it being a little light on flavour for the style - only a little, mind, and likewise aids drinkability. Nice to have tried this, some good flavours, but overall not quite what I look for in an ESB though. If this wasn't a one-off it would make a good pub beer. Adding the whole bottle improves things, bit more sweetness and depth with the (light) sediment included. Even a slight hint of apple emerges. Solid when all is weighed up - but add that sediment.
imdownthepub (22082) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 5, 2020UPDATED: JUN 5, 2020 Bottled, 330ml from the collaboration box kindly donated but originally from Waitrose. Chestnut amber type colour with cream head. There is a pleasing, fuller roasted nutty character to this with a note of caramel. Smooth malts to the fore but also fruity hopped notes, some peach, some leaf litter. Pleasant spicy finish, good to get a bottled ESB as they are getting rarer.

bilcho1 (1487) - Ruse, BULGARIA - MAY 28, 2019UPDATED: MAY 28, 2019 330ml bottle from the now-defunct Beer King, shared with Geri and Stefano. Pours almost clear amber with plenty of mousse-like and fluffy head, massive lacing but no rising carbonation. On the nose, citrus, apricot, honey with herbal hints in the background. In the mouth, bitter from the start (but that is the style) the flavour profile of an IPA, dominated by ripe citrus but backed up by honey and tropical fruit, thick texture with a fairly long bitter finish. Overall, just what a great Bitter should be: bitter but full-flavoured.
