COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors.

The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil.

Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate.

The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base.

Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Hop: Chinook, Kent Golding
Malt: Pale, Crystal, Black, Chocolate
Others: Roasted Barley, Coffee beans
SRM: 100

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2021 From slightly chilled bottle (BB Oct'21) into porter glass. Pours near black w/a cm of tan foam that settled into a ring, pleasant aroma of coffee & roast malt. Taste is magnificent, some spice up front w/a nice dark choc mudcake vibe closed out by balanced bitterness.

Alexander Suraev (36) - Moscow, RUSSIA - SEP 2, 2021
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2021 Japanese craft beer at it's best - superbly balanced, every promise delivered, no overwhelming notes. Chekhov once said: when offered coffee don't try to find a beer in the cap. Coffee stouts like this one make this advice an anachronism. Coffeish beers are here. And Hitachino makes one of the most remarkable of these.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2021 aroma of soy sauce, mellow brown head after shaking the tulip while there is nothing after the pour. I can only find the extra bitterness of the coffee addition and the other taste is all about stout.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2021 Coffee lovers are in for a treat. So are stout fans. Notes of chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Feels like an espresso shot mixed with a pale lager. I’m not a big coffee lover, so won’t rate it very high

LagerGuide122 (803) - - JAN 26, 2021
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2021 330ml bottle brewed in Japan at 7%. Pseudoblack brown with a nice-sized sandy head, good duration. Strong dark fruit aroma, blackcurrant raisin and fig, kept fairly airy however, with milk chocolate and coffee playing second fiddle. Lowish carbonation. Deep dark and sticky, viscous almost earthy bitter coffee develops and lingers constantly, with lighter fruity bramble tones, and milk chocolate kicking in at the end and in the aftertaste. An espresso stout for down and dirty coffee lovers, not Starbucks fans.
