This canned brew from a bottle shop was served at a cool temperature and poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a very softly carbonated body opaque black brown colored body and a very good lacing. The weak aroma was brown malt. The mouthfeel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish roasted malt aftertaste. The smooth flavor contained notes of roasted malt velvety smoothness mild hops and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

12oz can from Three Cellars in the Falls. Very dark brown pour with a beige head leaving some streaky lace. Choco-caramel with also some dark malts. Fairly rich and leaning bitter. Taste is a bit smoky. Medium bodied, little alcohol presence. Blend is good, carbonation is solid. Finishes more bitter than bittersweet. Tasty porter. 14

On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. This is a deep dark looking one, near black in the glass and it has a medium sized sidesticking beige top. Smells dark chocolate and a little bit of sweet licorice. Quite nice and present aroma. It has a mild oily texture in the mouth and it’s just below average on the bubbles. Coffee-loaded, a little bit of paper, dark malts. Works well with the spicy smoked beef-jerky @ Mikkeller Bar. 16.05.2016

355ml can. Pricey but we’ll see. Brown pour. Aroma is nice, cocoa, and malt. Falvor is cocoa, bit metallic, fruity. Okay brown ale, bit sweet and sugary but decent.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home after running for a very long time. Appearance is pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is very nice, light nutty profile with chocolate, caramel and coffee, very good. Taste is also very good, not too sweet, chocolate notes, roasted malt. Nice one here.

Draft. A black beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, bread, and citrus fruits. The flavor is sweet with boots of chocolate, roasted malt, and citrus fruits, leading to a bitter finish.

Aroma is coffee and some toasted malt. Flavor is smokey, milky, and some coffee. Slightly milky finish and very soft feel. Pours deep brown almost black. Had out of a can at home

Glass at the Festival with James. Pours a dark brown, nearly black with average head. This porter was ultra bitter with overly roasted coffee bean, wood, and tobacco smoke. Light to medium in body with too much carbonation for a porter. Too much

Backlogged rating: Deep brown with a very frothy tan head and good lace. The nose shows roast, coffee, slight mocha, resin and herbal hops with faint pineapple and fig. The taste has moderate roast, bready and nutty malts with a touch of coffee bitterness. Faint fruit and grainy finish. The bidy is thin to medium, lively carbonation and ashy finish. it is okay, not all that complex really.
