jgb9348 (9218) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 5, 2022UPDATED: JAN 5, 2022 Very hazy and rich copper, bronze and light tan coloured body with a thick, four to five centimetre tall off-white head with a small lace on the sides that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of squash, light allspice and bananas and cloves with a good deal of bubble gum and yeast here a lot of malt and richness, but also a nice spicey quality with some dry and fairly sweet notes that come through at the very end - strong in the nose in a good way, and very reminiscent of a weizenbock, perhaps a little more than a squash-based beer. Full-bodied; Rich, full-flavoured and spicey allspice and cloves show up at first with a lot of yeast and bready flavours as well with a touch of caster sugar and some from caramelised sugar notes, toffee and even from a bit of lactose it seems. Aftertaste is rich and pungent as well with the squash coming out first along with a nice pungent banana and yeast complexity with some wheat, bread, clove and bubblegum note along with a pleasant sweetness and a touch of alcohol here as well. Overall, a nice and strong, pungent and squashy beer complete with a bunch of spice notes as well - very nice throughout and perhaps a bit too pungent in terms of the pumpkin/squash, but nicer with the yeast complexities here and subdued sweetness. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Costco in Alexandria, Virginia on 21-September-2021 for US$2,69 sampled at my house here in Washington on 04-January-2022 when I got my power back following a small storm here in the city.
radagast83 (11245) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - OCT 8, 2021UPDATED: OCT 8, 2021 16oz can, purchased at Costco. Poured a copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma was gourdy pumpkin, with nutmeg, allspice. Pleasant stuff, a bit heavy, but a decent pumpkin beer on a crisp, Autumn night.
