tex3006 (36) - - DEC 11, 2021UPDATED: DEC 11, 2021 From a 375 ml bottle packaged on Sept ‘18. Headless hazy reddish. Aroma of strawberry raspberry. Medium body with berry vinegar flavor. Little/no carbonation. Not an aficionado of sours so I’m not a good judge but this beer wasn’t for me.
nathanvc (4147) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 25, 2021UPDATED: SEP 25, 2021 21 August 2021. At Gents Bierfestival. Cheers to the Ghent beer crew!
18/19, blend No° 57. Hazy red, no head. Strong aroma of raspberry, unripe strawberry, lemon peel, sour cherry, sour plum, vinegar, grapes. Taste has very sour plum, raspberry & lemon acid, funky straw, softly lactic-yoghurty but leaning more towards sourdough. Tart, acidic, fruity finish, very sour red fruits, plum, some woody tannins with an earthy rhubarb note. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Very complex, rich in fruitiness with the right amount of 'wildness'T. Excellent.
huineman (1166) - Madrid, SPAIN - SEP 7, 2021UPDATED: SEP 7, 2021 375 bottle from Lambik-O-droom, bottled June 17, 2020. Sipped away along with my old man, August 31, 2021, at the Tangla Hotel's terrace, Brussels, in a white wine glass, watching the sun set down beyond the Woluwe-Saint-Lambert windmill. That was an evening to remember.
This is a very interesting lambic, much more so taking into account that a couple days earlier, on our visit to 3F, we had the 2014 Framboos, and you can draw some comparisons. To begin with, I thought this was going to be a minor experience compared to that, but in no way: they were quite similar. I know this was much younger and the bottle was half the volume, but the hype surrounding Framboos is kind of unfair towards Hommage, IMHO.
This is a headless, cloudy, vermillion-hued lambic with some orange glittering and evident bubbles. Aroma is quite intense: acacia gum, cider, wild berries, apricot stone, balsamic vinegar... Wow. Mouthfeel is bone dry, light and tart. Bitterer than expected, leading to an ages-long finish with renewed dryness and sourness. Amazing (and it had only aged for a year in the bottle. Wait till I get my hands on an older one.)
