COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Geuze with significant portion of lambic coming from peated sherry barrels. Very similar to some Zennes, but has more peated character. Note: ABV varies. Front label has word "Geturfd" and Ø sign. Blends without "Geturfd" and Ø on the front label should be rated under regular Geuze, even if there is small portion of sherry in them. Description from Oude Geuze (season 19|20) Blend No. 62: In the spring of 2019, we received a series of very old Oloroso, PX and Amontillado barrels through a local Jerez cooperage. The aromas were a mix of typical fine sherry notes and toasted, peated characteristics, which we have never experienced before. However, after a year of bottle conditioning – because of the higher peated aromas, albeit balanced – we decided to release this bottle not as a Zenne y Frontera, but as a peated geuze. This blend, like blend 61, comes mostly from Oloroso barrels. The weighted average age of this blend, upon its release, is almost three years old. The oldest lambik was brewed in April 2018.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2022 Flaska från Etre Gourmet, 1920 b62, 7,8%. Klar, gyllene med hög vit krona. Pigg och fin grund-geuze. Rökigheten kommer fram något i doften, men ännu tydligare i eftersmaken. Rökiga toner och torv hänger kvar länge i munnen. Kul och snygg, men tycker rökigheten tar över något. Gillade rök-Zwanze mycket bättre.

Scopey (21884) - Oldmeldrum, SCOTLAND - DEC 31, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2021 750ml bottle from Beer Gonzo. It pours hazy orange with a handsome white cap. The aroma is musty, funky, good hit of barnyard, medicinal action, touch of peat reek, granny smith apples, tart berries, damp oak, raspberry, bramble, gooseberry, lemon sherbet, damp hay and a touch of vanilla. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, sharp citrus vibes, lemon peel, vibrant and punchy, gooseberry, granny smith apple upfront, but also quite a bit of red berry, splash of Oloroso, minerality, firmly dry, oaky tannins, definitely peat smoke and medicinal vibes with a drying musty berry finish. Medium body and moderate, dense / prickly carbonation. Great depth of flavour. Interesting and someone balanced. Really moreish. Super fun stuff.
