COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cuvee Ange was inspired by the French Oak wine barrels that once housed all French wine varietals. Fermented with wild yeast and aged in a combination of Cabernet, Merlot, and Grenache barrels with raspberries and blackberries, Cuvee Ange is a fruity, tart, and complex ale. Cuvee Ange pours a bright rose with aromas of fruit, funk, and wood.

Draft at the brewery. Hazy reddish amber color with a small off white head. Aroma is red wine, oak, leather, red berries. Sweet and tart vinous flavor, some tannins, tart berries. Medium bodied with a decent feel. Good stuff.

Bottle. Aroma is lots of funk and yoghurt, then raspberries. Color is a bit dead. Taste is funky, lactic, flower and dried grass notes, fruitiness is hindered. Still a tasty one.

On tap. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a fair head. Aroma of berries, oak and hint of wine. Taste of berries, bit of oak, tart and bit of wine. Touch of tart lingers into a fairly dry finish. Moderate body, has an aged wine feel as much as it is a beer. Interesting

500ml bottle. No apparent dating. Appearance: mostly clear, dark amber, with a thin white head that dissipated quickly. Aroma: Raspberry and cherry fruitiness is strong, with the brett notes of grass, hay, and barnyard funk. Some noticeable acidity as well. Well balanced Taste: Light malt sweetness quickly turning to a moderate acidic tartness, followed by tart berry and cherry, with undertones of brett funk retronasally. Mouthfeel: Light bodies with a low to moderate carbonation. Finish: Tart berry acidity sticks around long after the swallow. Only a touch of brett lingers. Overall: A very light and crisp wild ale, dominated by tart berry and cherry notes. A pleasant, contrasting brett aroma and light funkiness throughout adds complexity. Very well balanced

500 mL bottle. Pours deep red, like red wine. A thin collar. Smells of strong red wine, blackberry and sour raspberry. Oaky and acidic. Tastes much the same. Perhaps even more like red wine. Fruity, but less sour than it smells. It smells a little bit vinegary, but it doesn't come through in the taste at all. The blackberry flavor is dry without being juicy and sweet at all. Long oaky finish. Medium body with low carbonation. Dominated by wine and barrel. Maybe not so much by the fruit, but it's more prevalent than any base beer flavors.
