A Märzenbier (Oktoberfest-style) brewed with dulce de leche and flavors inspired by hoja santa. Dulce de leche is a type of milk caramel widely used throughout Latin America. UPDATED: MAR 26, 2019 12 oz bottle 3/26/19 (Binny's Montgomery Mix A Six) 34° in Tulip (On bottle). Pours a murky amber with a small off white head. Aroma of pumpkin. Taste of spices, malt, and slight caramel. This medium bodied brew is all around tasty.

I had thought to use a German style Oktoberfest glass, but the label recommends a tulip. The beer pours a somewhat murky amber, with a fizzy, though somewhat persistent head. The smell… well, it seems like here we go with pumpkin spice again. It's not on the label, but some of the online sources mention "inspiration" by hoja santa, a Central American herb that adds complex flavors to cooking, kind of like the ingredients in root beer. So that might be what I'm thinking is the pie spice. The taste is caramel sweet, but not overly so. The smells are nicely focused by my little tulip after all. The taste lets my pumpkin pie spice impression dwindle away, replaced by a more complex spicy and slightly herbal note. Some of the beer sticks to my lip, so there's still some extra malts available. It's just a little stronger than usual, at 6.3% abv. A little bit of milk in the aftertaste. As I go further down, I can pick out chamomile and a little bit of pepper, maybe still a little cinnamon. It turns into a complex brew as I drink it, and it invites slow drinking.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2018 Pours a clear amber/copper color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, enhanced caramel, mild fruit character, a hint of earthy bitterness, generally decent for the style, but not much that stands out as special, a little sweet.

Pint a t ElijahPs. Looks like so many others being darker brown. No foam. Aroma is kind of like pumpkin pie with the gourd and the spices but the flavor brings less of both and more earth and alcohol. This is tasty enough but not among the top.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop was served at a cool temperature and poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a very softly carbonated body hazy light orange brown colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was caramel malt and toffee. The mouthfeel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish malty aftertaste. The tasty flavor contained notes of semi-sweet toffee caramel hops and malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

11/15 Dark amber to light umber in color. Smallish ecru head. Aromas of caramel, light spices of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. A bit of alcohol and menthol with a big sniff. Lots of malt in the front. Simple caramel and light toasted flavors. Some light citrus and spices in the middle. Finish is lightly sweet with a touch of fruitiness and a slight ginger bite. A spiced Oktoberfest. Interesting.

Pours a clear copper-golden with a light khaki head. Pumpkin pie and fainter notes of caramel on the nose. Flavors are the same except for a peculiar bitter off flavor that persists through and beyond the finish.

12oz bottle from Ray’s in Tosa. Reddish orange pour. Sweet and tangy. Spicy malts. Some surprising pumpkin/allspice. Tasty. A blend of the two autumn styles. 13.3
