UPDATED: DEC 25, 2021 330ml Bottle from Beersniffers (2021), Drinkswell, Ripon (2010), Utobeer (2005). Hazy dark brown coloured with a large white head of foam. It has a rich dried fruit, malt and burnt toffee flavour with almond, plum and spices on the warming finish. Excellent!

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2021 Bottle online from The Trembling Madness. Pours a hazy deep caramel brown colour with a medium sized creamy off white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, brown bread and brown sugar. Taste is fruity and a little spicy with more caramel and brown sugar. Medium body and a gentle light fizzy carbonation. Not bad but with no distinct flavours i can detect.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2021 Bottle from HOTM. Pours a red tinged mahogany with small beige head. Aroma is promising with notes of caramel, malt, red wine, mixed dried fruits. Great depth of flavour with notes of dark malts, caramel, spice, grape, raisins, lime zest, minor vinous. Medium body, semi-fine carbonation, semi-dry, alcohol warmth on way down. Excellent.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2021 Servida en copa. Apariencia algo 'sucia', muy turbia y de color marrón oscuro. Espuma color marfil, escasa pero que aguanta bien. Aroma dulce, fruta madura, levadura belga. Los sabores siguen al aroma, con predominio de las pasas, fruta madura y especias. Dulce y de cuerpo completo, carbonatación media, textura oleosa. Final seco y con la calidez alcohólica presente.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2021 Bottle from Hops and Crafts Exeter. Pours slightly hazy light ruby with an off white head. Aroma of raisin,plum, prune, some chocolate, brown bread ,burnt sugar & juicy grape. Taste of more raisin, plum , fig , prune , juicy grape, burnt sugar, brown bread , spicy pepper and a little booze. Medium medium with good carbonation, gum tingling. The finish is dry and bittersweet with more grape, raisin, fig , plum , prune , burnt sugar, brown bread , wholemeal biscuit and pepper.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2021 Bottle from somewhere or other. Medium brown, decent head. Brown sugar, complex yeasty nose. Very nice complexity on the tongue, big and caramel-biscuity, smooth raisiny Belgian flavors. Excellent!

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2021 Robe ambré sombre, trouble, mousse correcte mais une bonne part s'envole vite, carbo faible, pas mal de levure. Nez de confiture fort marqué sur les épices (cannelle, girofle). En bouche, attaque plutôt fraîche et acidulée, vite suivie par les épices, et en finale du houblon. Le malté arrive tardivement aussi, avec du fruit cuit, du pudding et du toast. Pointe poivrée aussi, avec les épices qui s'expriment fort en finale. Agréable et très riche, tout en restant subtile, de légères notes de madère, avec quand même un certain équilibre avec le malt. Bien.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2021 Robe noire et caramel, mousse onctueuse dotée d'une bonne tenue. Nez sur la lie de vin, senteurs boisées, les fruits rouges et le caramel En bouche, c'est épais et onctueux, on sent la force de l'alcool et des arômes de biscuit, de pruneaux et de caramel, on a des touches boisées et de réglisse avec une pointe vinaigrée en fin de bouche. Personnellement, la touche vinaigrée m'a un peu déçu et j'ai du mal à vraiment apprécié cette brune de noël à sa juste valeur. Peut-être est-ce mon exemplaire et sa conservation antérieure ? Il restait cependant 7 mois de conservation pour la DLC. Bilan mitigé, c'est dommage car elle semblait de très bonne facture.
