UPDATED: MAY 3, 2021 This is a backlog rating from 2008 from a bottle shared by Matt, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are sweet malts, caramel, holiday spices, good.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2019 I drank this beer @ Heren van Liedekerke. And it was in winter and they had special card. This one was from 2007... so 12 years old... it was amazing! 2019 only available on tap... taste was totally different.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2019 1/12/19. 750mL bottle from B$. B$ is an old friend of mine who randomly asked if I wanted some old beers he never drank. This is a 2013 bottle and boy was I surprised to see I had never rated this! So fun to have my first rate of this (I guess) be a 2013. Deep amber pour with a frothy khaki head that fades. Rich deep aroma, dark fruits, toffee, candi sugar, Belgian esters, Mrs. Owl swears tons of coconut. Age has diminished the spices which is okay by me. Rich flavor, enters sweet, fig newtons, raisins, candi sugar, toffee, caramel, but it’s balanced by a bit of bitterness, spice, phenolics, biscuit and toast. This has aged well. Super random rating for me!

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2019 Clear light brown with thick white head - frothy creamy. Good pleasant aroma. Not particularly spicy as expected for a Christmas beer - but quite drinkable.

750 ml cork and wire bottle with no clear bottling date but it has been cellared for at least 2 years. Pours clear reddish brown with a very durable and creamy beige head. Good lacing that quickly slides down the sides of the glass. Aroma: rich smells of dark dried fruits, light spices, and fruit cake. Flavor: follows the aroma. Very well balanced and harmonious mix of flavors including dates and raisins. Slightly sweet but with a lightly bitter finish. Feel: full body with rather lively carbonation.

lekker fruitig, kruidig en verwarmend bier. De donkere kleur van het bier met een plakkerige crèmekleurige kraag maken Kerstmis helemaal goed. Lekker veel alcoholwarmte met een volle krachtige smaak.

Poured from 750ml bottle after cellaring for 3 years. Hazy brown with an an off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of plums, raisins, caramel, spices and yeast. Taste of raisins, spices, plums, caramel and yeast. Medium body and medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Noel poured a deep brown body with an heavy off white cap which left decent lace on my glass. Aroma of candied plums, raisins, and spices. flavor was similar to the aroma with caramel hints showing up. Nice and smooth, good mouthfeel. Overall it was better than i thought it would be, a pretty good beer thats worth a try. Originally rated on 11/24/08

On tap. 2015 version. Limpid amber body headed by a fine and persistent foam. Aroma of candi, prune, clove. Taste is similar in addition to malt; fine, balanced, round but nos heavy; not very strong bitterness; quite light; coffee in the end. Matches well main courses a bit spicy as well as a waffer with toffee apples. Fairly classical and well done.
