drpimento (6063) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 2, 2017Pretty okay beer. Basically sweet with a little bit of Carbonic tent going to hint of bitterness to balance it and not much more. There is no way that this is a Belgian beer that was double fermented.
balloonbuffoon (1125) - - OCT 4, 201712floz bottle, no date, $1.50 unit cost as part of a mix-your-own-six, large stem snifter. A head forms a ring and partially covers the murky light-brown body below. Whereas, a boozy aroma releases notes of date and sweet holiday bread. Plum and raisin flavors are tasted on the front end, Then on the back end, its very toasty and has a slick sweetness aftertaste. Bold, but not as spicy as many beers released during the winter. Granted this is most likely from last winter, but it seemingly could be aged a few years.
drdisque (1014) - Illinois, USA - FEB 16, 2017On tap at Haymarket. Flavor is boisterously fruity and spicy with a bit of alcohol warming but an overall bright character. Somewhat caramelly. Slightly dry finish. Quite good.
Drake (18900) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 15, 201712 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Milwaukee. Hazy amber, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toasted bready malt, caramel, raisin, cinnamon. The taste is cherries, spice, bready malt, apricot. Medium bodied, mild lingering spice.

Pours deep amber almost brown hue with a. Small lite eggshell head and sparse lacing. Nose is big dark fruits candy sugar spices toffee. Flavors show the toffee spice and dark fruit elements. Leaves a big spicy and caramel notes on the finish. Much better than I was expecting. Very dry finish with lingering spices. Very nice.
BlackBeerPG (2339) - Darien, Illinois, USA - NOV 20, 2016Taste: raisin, dark Cherries, not real tart, boozy, semi sweet malt notes. Fruit cake, herbal, and alcohol nose. Copper color, clear, average head and lace. Medium body. Smoother than I thought it would be.

islay (3622) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 25, 201612 oz. bottle, consumed on 8-6-16. Floral aroma features scents of caramel, cotton candy, and Red Delicious apple. Not my favorite set of scents. Lovely copper appearance. Mostly clear but slightly hazy. Small amount of beige head. Boring taste. Low in flavor. Tastes like the pale, American imitation of a Belgian strong ale that it is. Medium body. Very little to the palate. Overall, not a good beer. Displeasing aroma. Boring flavor. A big disappointment.
Cousin_Larry (1001) - - MAY 25, 2015Lots of caramel aroma and flavor. Not sure this is really a quad - no plum or alcohol burn. Maybe though.
tmoreau (7963) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAR 20, 2015Shared 12 oz. bottle poured to snifters, showing a clear, copper color, with a modest layer of off white head foam, and spots of lacing. The nose was malty, caramel sweetness, subtle spice, esters as dried fruit, and vegetal/herbal/garden hints that weren’t altogether offensive, but somewhat inappropriate, imo. The taste continued the malt sweetness, with fair carbonation, in a medium body, with low bitterness, and complementary alcohol warmth. After a slightly questionable start, a fairly decent, Belgian Dark Strong Ale.
