COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed in 2005 as the first in our annual Decadence series, AleSmith Olde Ale follows the tradition of classic British-style Old Ales. We’ve matured this batch in both premium bourbon barrels and brandy barrels to add a vinaceous complexity to its rich, malty profile. Notes of oak, vanilla, and bourbon compliment the beer’s dried fruit and burnt toffee character to make this limited release worth the wait. Designed to be enjoyed now or generously aged in the bottle for years to come.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2018 Bottle shared alexsdad06. Pours reddish/brown with an average creamy off-white head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Heavy complex roasted malt, toffee and sweet alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Good well balanced bourbon & brandy sweet flavor and finish of long duration. Standout brew.

Bottle pour, enjoyed at Matt's. Thanks! And happy 7k! A dark, near black pour with a tan foam head. Very rich, boozy aroma. Mostly bourbon, though I don't have a whole lot of brandy experience. Some maple like flavor. Bourbon. Viciously sweet. Must be the brandy influence. Dark fruit. Raisin, some plum. A bit too sweet for me, but it hardly takes away from it. Interesting.

Bottle in Seattle. Rating #7000! Lingering foam ring, dark and opaque nearly black. Lovely boozy aroma, complete Alesmith character, dark fruit and cherry. Boozy barley wine, bright and in good shape, lots of raisins and booze. Lots of brandy, dark bitter leather and tobacco, sweetness up front descending in to bitterness. A great beer to sit on for a few years and open for a random milestone. Very sweet up front but it’s countered just enough by leather, tobacco and raisin at the end for me. Hints of vanilla and maple syrup, pretty sweet. Boozy alesmith but pretty typical and nice flavors. A treat, but it’s rather sweet.
