DraftDodger (5615) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 25, 2021UPDATED: JUL 25, 2021 Copenhagen 25/7 202. 44 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Simon Daugaard drawing of a quite grumpy Rye-King on the can.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a mid-sized, dark beige head. Settles as 0,3 cm thick but frothy layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Rawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is intense with a dark, roasted sweet odor mingling with some subtle citric notes. Earthy touch. Dark roasted malts, tobacco, leather. Molasses, brown sugar. Light notes of smoked peat.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, slightly viscous, oily, soft, smooth texture. Lightly tingling.
Flavor is fairly intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and potent with a dry bitter undertone. Lingering. Finish is dry.
Wholesome and potent. So potent I hardly notice the Rye. But a very fine Stout. No need for the Rye King to be so grumpy.

Frothmeister (900) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 20, 2019UPDATED: MAY 20, 2019 500ml bottle. In the cellar for about 18 months. Pours black with a thin dark mocha cap, and clearly has some serious body coming out of the bottle. Glug. The nose is HUGE molasses up front, dark roasty malts, dark fruits underneath, but really, it's a WHOLE lot of molasses. Full bodied with expected sweetness, molasses, a apparent mineral note, espresso and dark malts that leads into surprisingly dry bitter dark coffee notes that take it out to the finish. This is a serious beast. Not my favourite flavour profile, but this is clearly a well made beer.
Nonshaugen (987) - Fetsund, NORWAY - MAY 14, 2019UPDATED: MAY 14, 2019 50 cl bottle, batch #1465. The pour is gloopy, thick and dense, jet black, thick chocolate mocca colored head. Aroma is dark chocolate, toffee and a touch of alcohol. Mouthfeel is wonderful, thick and well carbonated. Flavours of dark bitter chocolate, dark roasted malts, char, pipe tobacco, leather, you name it... Long aftertaste, unfortunately with an alcohol presence. It's not my perfect Stout, but pretty close :-)
FoamForever20 (1148) - STAVANGER, NORWAY - MAR 25, 2019UPDATED: MAR 25, 2019 Lots of dried fruit, rich taste, leather, chockolate, hint of vanilla tobacco. Superb.
