COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Robust Porter has notes of light roast coffee, cacao and fig newton. Dark caramel sweetness is balanced by chocolate and roasted malt flavours and a bold hop bitterness.
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2022 473ml can from Volo 2.0 (retail-only as it was then). Looks fantastic - deep ruby/brown/black (clear too - bubbly, but CLEAR, like actual BEER) - large fluffy lasting pillowy/whipped ice cream brown head - that's a five. Lush but not overpowering roast/nutty aroma, hint of cola sweetness, very light coffee and herbal notes; hardly any alcohol presence. Taste follows, a little chalky (in a good way) with more coffee and dark chocolate character, the alcohol is a little more present; not much sweetness at all, and it begins to border on a light cascadian dark as it warms - lovely and bitter, but still a lot of porter/stout roast malt body. Average body, fairly light carbonation (just right, really), with a medium herbal/pine bitter finish blended with roast coffee and chocolate. Damn, wish I had bought a few of these - it's from 2020 and still drinking great!
