COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In keeping true to this classic style, our Mid Summer Saison was brewed in March, fermented for three weeks and warm conditioned until late July. The delicate flavours of a saison develop over the months and can not be rushed. Brewed with German Pilsner and wheat malts, we also added lemon peel and coriander to the boil. A premium saison, it is complex enough for a discerning palate, but balanced and smooth enough to session.

Oh man, how repulsive can a beer get? I’m glad I didn’t order that taster flight, but my cousin, who wasn’t too bothered about the day choice for the “Adventure Brew”. The server babe insisted it was a saison, but the looks, “aroma” and flavour told us it was a witbier. I checked the description and it matched what our lovely server told us. But "why" on earth? If wasn’t enough to desecrate beer with coriander in the witbier style, these brewers did it with a saison. Of course one may ask why rate it if you don’t like it? Well, I wasn’t expecting the saison to taste like battery acid and regurgitated lemonade. But I grant you. This is not a cheap, bad beer. This is a very elaborate beer, very complex, with repellent smell and abominable flavour.

Hazy yellow golden with a thick rocky white head that endures. Citrus, pepper and spice (did I detect some clove and banana phenolics?) in the nose, with a grainy aroma in the background. Citrus and spice dominate the palate, zippy carbonation keeps the whole thing moving and the finish is fairly dry and short. Some alcohol warmth lingers and is nice. I imagine this would be a big seller on their new patio at the Brewhouse. Although having been down there a couple of times, the clientele

Belgian yeast, spice, coriander and a bit of sweetness in the nose. Hazy yellow, with longish-lasting white head. Not bad, upfront get a bit of banana and belgian yeast, followed by a spicyness and sweetness with a herbacious hop finish. For the style, would have preferred a bit drier. Not a bad example of the style.

[4636-20120803] Tap. Grainy orange pips and dry yeastiness aroma. Hazy, brown orange body with a foamy white head. Yeasty dry grains flavour has a lingering aftertaste. Medium body. Nice to sample. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

(On draught at Bryden’s, Sept 22 2012 as Late Summer Saison; assume this is the same beer with additional ageing per description). Poured a slightly cloudy blond with slight orange hints, seemed to clear a bit as it warmed. Aroma had moderate, slightly banana ester and funky yeast characters, Some wheat and graininess from the pilsner malts, herbal and citrus notes that showed coriander and a little lemon character with the hops. Flavour is nicely bitter and biscuity, with some light banana, herbs, light pepper and a bit of tart lemon peel on the finish. Mouthfeel medium for a saison, average carbonation. Nice, balanced and fairly complex saison but not overly polished. Refreshing and quaffable.

Impressive beer from amsterdam. Pours cloudy blond with lacing and a little head. Smell has bubble gum hops and soft carbonation. Nice soft feel on palate. There’s some bitterness and a little boozy fermented funk. Good saison.

On tap at the Only. Pours a cloudy golden orange with smallish white head. Aroma has lemon, banana and a light, yeasty spiciness. Flavour is lemon, grain, banana, other fruit and some spice. Nice.

Thank you Amsterdam for recognizing the need for this style of beer in Onterrible. Nice fuzzy peachy color, small white head, aromas citrus and sweet fruit. Taste is pale tree fruit and banana with a good dryness to it, some smooth phenolics, and some citrus. Could benefit from some earthiness, plus some peppery phenolics and a little more dryness on palate and finish - boost the rusticity and charm, but it’s wonderful.

Bottle picked up at the source. Pour is a cloudy rich yellow, with a white head that disipates quickly. Nose is reminisent of Belgian yeast, and a touch of barnyard and some orange peel. Tastes light, a little bitter, essence of grain, and again some Belgian yeast, also some orange peel.

Solid grassy hops, a nice dose of tropical fruits, the sweetness is notover the top, there is a nice pepperiness you would expect in a top notch saison, some light funk, and yeasty notes. Lively carb, solid mouthfeel, medium bitter finish, with a nice funky aftertaste,
