juiceisloose (3665) - Windermere, Florida, USA - DEC 23, 2021UPDATED: DEC 23, 2021 375 ml bottle. Pours pitch black in color and capped by a small tan layer of foam that settles quickly to the body below. The aroma shows shows notes of rich, dark chocolate, toasted coconut, and vanilla over a dark roasted malt base with further notes of bourbon soaked oak and boozy warmth. The flavor follows suit with the rich, dark chocolate, toasted coconut, and vanilla to go with the roasted malts, cinnamon spice, and bourbon oak on the back end with a touch of bitterness for balance. Full bodied and slick on the palate with soft carbonation that leads to a bitter sweet, dark chocolate, toasted coconut, vanilla, and bourbon soaked oak on the finish with some lingering boozy warmth from the alcohol. This is really damn good stuff here with loads of coconut and vanilla flavor with ample bourbon oak and boozy alcohol. So rich and decadent and really good stuff, but something that is best shared between a couple people. Really glad I got to try this one.
brokensail (18691) - Bay Area, California, USA - OCT 5, 2021UPDATED: OCT 5, 2021 Bottle @ Home. Pours black with a nice dark tan head. After the foam subsides, I see some coconut flakes floating in the beer. Hah. That said, it's not surprising that this beer has a ton of coconut character. Big time dark chocolate, fudge, bourbon, and toffee, too. Intense barrel, coconut, chocolate, and caramelized sugars. Despite the ABV and barrel aging, not really boozy. Really liked this.
