Schnabelhund (152) - TAIWAN - OCT 28, 2021UPDATED: OCT 28, 2021 Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel pours dark brown with a copper hue and sports a beige head, which dissipates rather quickly. The aroma is brimming with toffeeish caramel maltiness, accompanied by notes of prunes, dark berries, honey, and a hint of savory soy sauce character. The flavor begins with rich malty caramel and muted sweetness, which is then followed by blackcurrant and honey notes while a roasty-toasty dark bread crust note slowly builds up, forming a gently bitter finish. Andechs Doppelbock Dunkel carries its 7.1% ABV with impressive grace - the alcohol feels very gentle throughout. The body is silky and full. While the flavor overall is big, the subtleties are the key to making this beer really shine. Great stuff.
