UPDATED: JUN 18, 2019 750ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown almost black in color and capped by a thin tan layer of foam that settles quickly to a thin film and leaves some spots of lace on the glass. The aroma shows notes of dark chocolate, toasted almonds, roasted coffee, and vanilla cream over a dark roasted malt base with notes of apple brandy and bourbon soaked oak with no sign of alcohol. Smells really nice and as it’s warms the apple brandy and bourbon really start toshow through. The flavor follows suit with notes of rich, dark chocolate, earthy roasted coffee, and caramel cream up front to go with the dark roasted malts, apple brandy and bourbon soaked oak with some roasty bitterness on the back end. The barrels aren’t over done and lend smoothness and depth to the base beer. Really nice and tasty stuff. Very interesting beer with even more depth from the blend of barrels.

From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Brian’s on March 30. 750 mL bottle. The pour is a nice darker black with a thinner ring of medium khaki colored head and a couple spots of lace as it falls away. The aroma is fantastic. There is a huge coffee and strong almond butter sweetness throughout this one. There is a hint of vanilla and a light fruity bourbon and alcohol on the back end. The maltiness is sweet and there is a light roast underneath the coffee. I like this. The flavor is even better. The sweetness of the almond is just awesome. The coffee and roasted malt balance out and the light alcohol presence with a hint of vanilla is fantastic. Balanced, sweet, and the coffee adds a little bitterness. Damn. The mouth feel is heavy bodied and viscous with a soft carbonation and a lingering coffee and almond sweetness. This is just damn good. Oh man. 8 4 9 5 17

From draft at omnipollos Göteborg, amazing aroma of Apple brandy, and soft hot bourbon notes, deep roast, light molasses, roasted almonds and toffee. Intense full taste of Apple brandy, full silk mouthfeel, amazing brew. Finally a brew that’s not only pastry!
