5000 (7050) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - SEP 29, 2012Bottle:   (red cap) Super muddy brown, thick, large frothy beige head, sticky lacing.   Super strong chocolate like aroma, moreso a sweet carob and cocoa.   A little musty as well.   Somewhat of a sweet malty background, lots of cocoa and chocolate.   Backside shows a bit of apple skin, and a faint tartness.   Interesting to see how this one has aged.   The chocolate aspect is rather big.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate but smooth.   Soft hops remain on the exit, without the bitterness.   I thought this would be a lactic mess, but I was very surprised.
CanIHave4Beers (4332) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - MAR 17, 2010Thanks to ketchepillar for bringing this over. Pours a deep reddish brown with a big fluffy head and some good lace. The aroma is fruity and malty with some nice floral hops and a little bit of booze. The flavor is plenty of chocolate and a tinge of alcohol, nutty and fruity, not exciting but tasty.
ketchepillar (1218) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - MAR 16, 2010Huge pillowy light head. Lots of caramel. Not bad, but definitely has a weird twang.
Drake (18900) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 16, 200912 ounce bottle courtesy of mibirder,. Thanks! Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown color with a very large head. Aroma is chocolate, nutty notes and light tart fruit notes. Taste is chocolate, nutty notes, citrus and very light infection notes... nothing jumps out at you but this is clearly just a bit off.
mabel (11183) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 11, 2009[2117-20090426] 12floz bottle. Sweet corny yeast aroma with mild caramel butter. Murky, dark amber brown body with a long-lasting foamy tan head. Sweet boozy toasted yeast flavour has mild caramel notes. Medium-full body. Average.

jercraigs (13679) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 26, 20092009-04-26. Red Cap. Hazy dark brown with a massive beige head. Aroma of tangy malt, dusty toasty notes. Mild yeasty undertones. Flavour tastes suspiciously like one of my homebrews, with a tangy note to the malt. Pleasant mild hops over sweet caramel malt. Alcohol is quite restrained, only showing a bit of itself. Average plus palate is over carbonated. Okay. Bottle from Swoopjones’ Toronto Maple Leafs Store
HogTownHarry (8952) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - APR 4, 2009Bottle (12oz). Red Cap. Tried to gush on opening, but I tamed it - brilliantly refractive deep copper pour with a huge fluffy off-white head (floaties galore). Interesting, balanced aroma (brown ale? no way!) - dry resin hops and mild toasty malt, bit of cocoa and tart generic fruit in the background. Taste is very grainy and dry, lemony, bready and a tad alcoholic - holy crap that’s carbonated, not much bitterness in the finish, it actually sort of tastes like a slightly tart brown ale. Weird, but I liked it a bit, although it’s a bit off-puttingly sour - somewhat infrected?
jeffwilliams11 (310) - hooterville, Michigan, USA - MAY 31, 2008holy carb bomb batman. this beer took me like 15 minutes to pour. smells fruity and a little hoppy. adide from the carb issues, this is a very good beer.
Ofortuna (322) - Grafton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 8, 2008From my backlog. Very little carbonation. Dish soap with an odd sweetness underneath. Oxidized aroma and flavour. Yum, cardboard! I’m trying my best to pick out what in the world they were trying to do here. I get a little nuttiness and light notes of some pine in what used to be a more pronounced hop aroma and bitterness. An experiment gone horribly wrong.
blankboy (9237) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2008Bottle courtesy of swoopjones. Pours reddish-brown with a massive lasting foamy beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, some chocolate and very light earthy hops. Flavour’s malty (roasty caramel) along with fruit, spices, alcohol and earthy hops, slightly metallic or tangy or something. Average bitter finish. Overly carbonated. Medium bodied. Just O.K., seems slightly infected.
