haukur (2184) - Kópavogur, ICELAND - SEP 16, 2015draft. Pitch black, small brown head. Nose is coffee, slight hint of vanilla, roast. Tongue is medium sweetness, some hints of roast underneath. Creamy mouthfeel with vanilla beans, slight moccha. Heat from the peppers is not quite there. The barrel adds layers of complexity on top of the original. This is very nice. Reminds me a lot of Mikkeller BGBW bourbon. Very nice!
PartyFowle (954) - - MAY 21, 2015Growler pour. Looks like melted dark chocolate, thick and inky. Hardly any head, though it is from a growler, so it’s a little undercarbed. Tangy dark fruit leads the nose. Prune? It’s spicy and tangy. Red grape, molasses, a hint of anise and vanilla also poke up. A smooth blend. Tangy whiskey in the flavor, alongside raisins, green wood, vanilla bean, dark chocolate, toffee and a hint of roast. Just a touch of chile flavor and heat. Toasted wood, too. Thick, sugary medium-full body. Very low CO2; no noticeable alcohol. Tastes overall like bourbon-soaked, smoked raisins. It exhibits nice whiskey flavor without the bite, but loses some of the chocolatey and chili notes I liked in the un-barreled version.
Ernesto987 (6082) - Arizona, USA - MAR 29, 2015growler, counter pressured. Tasty extra thick. sweet stout Chillis are totally gone. Dryish finish, the thickness is unreal. Glad to try it.
jmagnus87 (2903) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - NOV 30, 2014Sampled at RBSG. From notes. Caramel, chocolate, a little vanilla and some green pepper.
decaturstevo (6342) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - SEP 28, 2014Light brown pour with tan head and lace. Sweet caramel malt dominates the aroma with a hinto abv. Flavor is sweet malt start with a bito cough syrup flavor on the back end along with the warmth. Medium bodied with good carbonation. pretty solid but for the cough syrup notes at the end
BiiruBierBeer (1101) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - AUG 20, 2014Smell is light coffee, alcohol, and moderate bourbon. Taste is bourbon, light to moderate chocolate, medium to heavy rye, and a moderate amount of alcohol. Not as thick or smooth as I’d like and a bit too boozy in taste. Didn’t hide the ABV nearly as well as other BA stouts I’ve had.
RussianDragon (578) - - AUG 9, 2014Growler shared by Huhzubendah, thanks Matt! Pours a dark brown/near black with a small ring of bubbles lining the rim. Dark cherry red hue when backlit. Aroma is oak, chocolate malt, slight coffee presence, vanilla, and whiskey barrel. Rye barrel is prominent with dark cherry sweetness. Flavor is same with roasted smoky anise and dark fruit complexity with oak and whiskey. Full bodied, mild carbonation, and oaky whiskey finish.
darkyellowsky (2) - USA - AUG 3, 2014 does not count From a growler during an epic bottle share at J. Greenwald's house. Pours pitch black with a deep aroma of smokey chilli and coffee. Taste was one of the most complex and balanced I have had in a few years. Tastes of chilli, semi sweet chocolate, vanilla and bourbon on the front and back end. Overall, it is damn near perfect. The age of two months in temp control probably created the perfect beer.

beernbourbon (1639) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - JUL 25, 2014Growler thanks to Blake! Pour is deep dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is musty, loaded with tobacco, malty, full of molasses, and faintly fruity. Flavor is really nice: sweet vanilla up front followed by smooth bourbon notes, more vanilla, light coconut, faint peat, and a touch of smoke. Really complex but really cohesive and well executed. Great beer.
Pilgrim_211 (4) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUL 15, 2014 does not count I was the 201st person to get a growler. Cool story about how it all went down.
